test(edi): guard the rejection log import under the prod layout - #3813
test_prod_import_path_tenant_validation.py: new test posts a future-dated 856 to both EDI routes under the prod sys.path layout. It asserts the 400 and that the rejection is recorded.
Verification
With the unfixed routes.py, the new test and the guard both failed.
After merging main: this test file, the guard, all test_edi_*.py and test_r3_restored_fixtures_e2e.py pass in the production image (Python 3.11).
Before the fix, in the production image, a future-dated asn_856.edi returned 500 with ModuleNotFoundError. With it, 400 edi_date_in_future with a rejection_id.
Tests only, with no production code change against main.
Low Risk
Changes are limited to test files; no production code paths are modified.
Overview Tests-only follow-up now that EDI route import fixes are on main: regression coverage so prod sys.path layout cannot silently reintroduce 500s on rejected EDI uploads.
The absolute app.* import guard in test_no_absolute_app_imports.py drops PENDING_ELSEWHERE, so any absolute app import under services/ingestion/app fails CI with no allowlist (closing the loophole that let a closed-branch exception slip through).
A new test_edi_rejection_is_recorded_under_prod_path uses the existing prod-path fixture, posts a future-dated 856 to both EDI ingest routes, and asserts 400edi_date_in_future plus two audit rows in the rejection log—matching the failure mode where lazy rejection-log resolution via absolute app.edi_ingestion turned validation rejections into 500s and dropped audit records.

_record_edi_rejection looked up the rejection log with an absolute
"app.edi_ingestion.rejection_log". In the consolidated server the
top-level app package is another service, so every EDI rejection raised
ModuleNotFoundError: the caller got a 500 instead of the 4xx with a
rejection_id, and the audit record was lost.
Resolve the module against this package. The lookup stays lazy, as the
tests rely on it.
Remove both PENDING_ELSEWHERE entries so the absolute-import guard has no
exceptions: #3793 landed the webhook_compat fix, and the branch named for
this one was closed in #3778.

Walkthrough
The ingestion import test now reports all detected absolute app imports. A production-path regression test submits a future-dated EDI document to both route variants and checks for HTTP 400 responses, the edi_date_in_future reason, and two rejection records for the tenant.
This PR strengthens EDI regression coverage and import enforcement without establishing an actionable merge-blocking defect.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title names the main change: a test under the prod layout that guards the rejection log import. The changeset removes the PENDING_ELSEWHERE allowlist from the absolute app import guard and adds a prod-path EDI rejection regression test. The title's 'test(edi)' prefix and its focus on the prod layout match the changeset. It does not name the allowlist removal, which is a secondary aspect of the change.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template's main sections. The Summary gives two concrete bullets. The Verification section gives test results before and after the fix. The description does not fill in the Type of Change checkboxes, the Test Plan checkboxes, the Checklist, or Related Issues. It also does not explain the sys.modules stub checklist item, though the change does not appear to add any stub. Most required content is present, so the check passes, but the template sections are incomplete.

Reviewed the complete diff against main: removal of the obsolete absolute-import exceptions and coverage of both EDI rejection paths under the production import layout. Ran test_no_absolute_app_imports.py and test_prod_import_path_tenant_validation.py locally on this exact commit: all 5 tests passed. No blocking correctness, tenant-isolation, or audit-evidence findings. Review performed by Codex; the implementation is attributed to Claude.

Summary
The
routes.pyfix this PR started with landed on main through #3782, so what remains is the protection against it coming back:test_no_absolute_app_imports.py: removePENDING_ELSEWHERE. Both entries are now fixed on main, so the guard has no exceptions. One had been allowlisted against a branch whose PR (fix(ingestion): unbreak CSV/EDI ingest and let EDI 856 shipments pass KDE validation #3778) is closed, which is how the bug got past it.test_prod_import_path_tenant_validation.py: new test posts a future-dated 856 to both EDI routes under the prodsys.pathlayout. It asserts the 400 and that the rejection is recorded.Verification
routes.py, the new test and the guard both failed.test_edi_*.pyandtest_r3_restored_fixtures_e2e.pypass in the production image (Python 3.11).asn_856.edireturned 500 withModuleNotFoundError. With it, 400edi_date_in_futurewith arejection_id.Tests only, with no production code change against main.
