Removes synthetic sample files (approved by C.Lee, Oct 23 2:41 PM PT and 2:45 PM PT):

  • frontend/public/proof/fsma-204-sample.csv
  • frontend/public/proof/epcis-sample.jsonld
  • frontend/public/samples/sandbox_sample_ftl.csv
  • frontend/public/proof/audit-bundle.zip
  • frontend/public/proof/audit-bundle-tampered.zip
  • scripts/build_audit_bundle.sh (only packaged the deleted CSV; no callers)

References cleaned up honestly, with no replacement fake data:

  • /proof: an empty state ("No public artifacts are published yet") linking to /verify. No downloads, transcripts, hardcoded hashes or sizes, or synthetic footer.
  • /verify, /docs and verify_chain.py usage text refer to the user's own exported bundle.
  • /sandbox: removed the "Run a sample FTL chain" CTA; uploading your own CSV is the only path.
  • Backend proof-verify tests build their bundle in-test instead of reading the deleted fixtures.
  • New data-free /proof test; .gitignore comment updated. Dated docs/qa history left as is.

Tests: affected vitest files 27/27 passed; eslint clean; backend proof verify/recall router tests passed; check_trust_safety_copy.py passed. Full tsc --noEmit has 11 errors, all in dashboard files this PR does not touch.

VS Code Grok reviews.

Note

Low Risk
Public marketing fixtures and UI copy only; verifier behavior unchanged and backend tests were rewired to in-memory bundles.

Overview
Removes all synthetic public proof artifacts (FSMA 204 CSV, EPCIS JSON-LD, audit bundle ZIPs, and scripts/build_audit_bundle.sh) so the site no longer ships downloadable demo data or hardcoded hashes.

The /proof page is replaced with an empty state (“No public artifacts are published yet”) and a link to /verify, while keeping the open-source verify_chain.py download. Copy on /verify, /docs, and in the SDK now points users at their own exported bundle (your-bundle.zip) instead of audit-bundle.zip.

Tests add a Vitest guard that /proof has no sample downloads or fake hashes; ingestion proof-verify tests build generic ZIPs in-test and drop assertions against the deleted tampered/checked-in bundles. .gitignore and copy-lint baseline are updated to match.

Walkthrough

The changes remove the public EPCIS sample and audit-bundle build script. The proof page now directs visitors to verify a bundle exported from their workspace and describes the manifest, SHA-256, and Merkle-root checks and their limits. Verification examples use your-bundle.zip. The router test creates a generic bundle, and a new proof-page test checks the empty state.

Priority: Low

Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~20 minutes

Merge Risk: Low · up to 7c72c

The bundle verification behavior is intact, so this is mergeable with a follow-up test for corrupted generic bundles. The proof page now accurately says no public artifacts are published.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "chore(frontend): remove synthetic sample files" matches the main change. The PR deletes the synthetic CSV, EPCIS JSON-LD, sandbox sample, and audit ZIP fixtures, plus build_audit_bundle.sh. It also rewrites /proof, /verify, /docs, and verify_chain.py text. The title covers the core removal and omits the copy and test updates, which is acceptable for a title.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the template's main sections: Summary, a test plan with results, and a checklist-style structure. It lists the removed files, the cleanup of references, and the test outcomes (Vitest 27/27, ESLint clean, backend router tests passed, check_trust_safety_copy.py passed). It does not fill in the Summary bullets in template form, does not mark Type of Change, does not tick the Test Plan or Checklist boxes, and has no Related Issues section. The approval note and the Cursor/Grok bot text are not template content. The required information is present, so the check passes. The author should still mark the Type of Change and the checklist items.

Additional findings

  1. frontend/src/app/sandbox/SandboxClient.tsx:173-174 — When the sandbox evaluator is mounted, the retained sandbox-front-door E2E test times out clicking the removed “Run a sample FTL chain” button instead of testing CSV evaluation.

    Fix on Vercel

Delete audit-bundle.zip and audit-bundle-tampered.zip (approved by C.Lee)
and scripts/build_audit_bundle.sh, which only packaged the deleted CSV.
/proof now shows an honest empty state and links to /verify; /verify and
/docs reference the user's own bundle. Backend tests build their bundle
in-test instead of reading the deleted fixtures. Add a data-free /proof
test.

Update the artifact regeneration claim.

The footer says that all artifacts are regenerated on every release. scripts/build_audit_bundle.sh now reports that the source CSV is absent and exits with not found until a real export is added. Update this text to match the current build workflow.

frontend/src/app/sandbox/SandboxClient.tsx:170-175
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Update the sandbox E2E test to upload a CSV.

When the evaluator is mounted, frontend/tests/e2e/sandbox-front-door.spec.ts reaches the removed Run a sample FTL chain button and fails. QA Health runs the full Playwright directory, so this remains a supported test workflow even though the narrower frontend CI gate excludes sandbox specs.

Replace the obsolete sample click with a CSV upload and retain the diagnosis assertion.

REVIEW: PASS grok 39ac1a5

The synthetic data is gone and nothing still refers to it. The diff matches the description.

Verified:

  • Deleted: frontend/public/proof/{audit-bundle.zip, audit-bundle-tampered.zip, fsma-204-sample.csv, epcis-sample.jsonld}, frontend/public/samples/sandbox_sample_ftl.csv and scripts/build_audit_bundle.sh. A repo-wide rg for fsma-204-sample|epcis-sample|sandbox_sample_ftl|audit-bundle|build_audit_bundle (excluding docs/qa) finds only the two negative assertions, in verify-no-sample.test.tsx:15 and proof-no-sample.test.tsx:12.
  • frontend/src/app/proof/page.tsx shows an EmptyState ("No public artifacts are published yet.") that links to /verify and /sdk/verify_chain.py. It has no hashes, sizes, transcripts or download links, and every import is used.
  • verify/page.tsx:32,45,72, docs/page.tsx:309 and verify_chain.py:20,263 now refer to the user's own bundle (your-bundle.zip), which reads correctly.
  • SandboxClient.tsx: onSample, SAMPLE_URL and the button are removed. No dead state or handlers are left.
  • services/ingestion/tests/test_proof_verify_router.py:577-597 builds its bundle in the test from data-free values only (b"generic-bundle-test-file", evidence.txt, and the SDK's Merkle root). There are no invented products, farms or lots. The tests that read the checked-in zips were removed.
  • .gitignore:88-91: the comment is updated. The !frontend/public/{proof,samples}/*.zip exceptions remain, which is harmless.

Tests:

  • vitest: proof/verify/sandbox/docs pages 8 files, 78/78 pass. Full src/tests/pages: 10 failed and 335 passed on the PR, 10 failed and 334 passed on origin/main. The failing tests are the same set, all in dashboard, suppliers and qa-health.
  • tsc: 10 error locations across 9 dashboard-related files, identical on main.
  • The PR touches none of the files with failures.
  • eslint on the touched files: clean.
  • ruff: clean.
  • pytest test_proof_verify_router.py: 41 pass.

CI at review time: 1 pass, 3 fail (Vercel, PR Blocker Checklist, Engine Review Pass, which waits on a review), 46 pending, 7 skipping. I did not look into the Vercel failure.

REVIEW: PASS grok 87915a7

Delta review from 39ac1a5 (previously PASS) to 87915a7.

  • One commit, 87915a7 ("fix(proof): drop sample wording from /proof empty state"). It changes a single line, frontend/src/app/proof/page.tsx:31.
  • The new copy is "RegEngine doesn't publish its own artifacts here. To check RegEngine's output, export an audit bundle from your own workspace and run the open-source verifier on it." It makes no sample or fake-data claims, invents no data, and still matches the empty state ("No public artifacts are published yet.").

Tests: proof-no-sample vitest 1/1 pass, and eslint on proof/page.tsx is clean.

Branch updated with main

Main was merged into claude/remove-synthetic-sample-files at the new head (d720fdc72540db8904f8e37a99eccfec42017d00).

Because merge commits created with GITHUB_TOKEN do not trigger workflows, a push to this branch or a manual CI re-run is needed for checks to run on it.

REVIEW: PASS grok d720fdc

Delta review from my previous PASS at 1223cf1.

  • 1223cf1..d720fdc is one commit, d720fdc "ci: trigger required gates" (Christopher, parent 1223cf1, signed off). It is an empty commit.
  • Tree hash is the same at both SHAs: 49b333581aaf79350d1b2093fd9318659d594d01. git diff --stat is empty.
  • No merge of main and no conflict edits. Content is byte-identical to what I already passed, so the previous findings carry over unchanged. No new data of any kind.

Delta review of merge fae4c04 (parents 171b0fe = prior head, 66a5146 = main incl. #3557).

  • remerge-diff: single modify/delete conflict on app/sandbox/SandboxClient.tsx resolved by taking main's deletion, as described. No other conflict hunks; PR changes (proof samples removal, proof-no-sample test) intact.
  • No imports of deleted sandbox files; no /sandbox links in src (only pre-existing main entries noted on #3543).
  • Local (npm ci): tsc clean; knip reports no unused files; vitest proof-no-sample and sandbox-cta pass.

* feat(suppliers): agreed sending hours per facility and live late CTE metric

* fix(copy): real-data follow-up to #3471 (v3) (#3544)

* fix(dashboard): drop fabricated demo data from recall report page

Remove the hardcoded demo investigation stats and affected-lot rows
(invented suppliers, lot codes, consumer counts). Demo mode now renders
the same No data yet empty state with a link to import records.

* feat(copy): label every EPCIS intake and export mention as (Preview)

EPCIS is preview on both paths, so feature-name mentions across app and
marketing copy now carry the (Preview) marker. The integrations eyebrow
now reads CSV upload, JSON events API, EPCIS (Preview). The FDA sortable
export stays unlabeled. Stored keys and option values are unchanged.

* fix(copy): keep typed EPCIS format value unlabeled in customer-readiness

The format field is a string union used for logic; the (Preview) marker
stays on the display name only.

* feat(pricing): show honest unavailable state when billing is unreachable

Drop the hardcoded tier prices and the silent fallback. Prices now come
only from the billing service; when it cannot be reached the page renders
a Pricing is temporarily unavailable state with signup and contact links
instead of invented figures. Hardcoded dollar amounts in the pricing copy
and metadata are removed as well. EPCIS 2.0 export carries the (Preview)
label; the FDA sortable export stays unlabeled.

* fix(app): remove sample and sandbox banners and the simulated ingest walkthrough

Dashboard shell and DemoBanner now say No data yet with a link to connect
real data on the Ingest page. The ingest page no longer fakes a job for
the first example URL; it submits for real. The Sample: Daily FDA package
archive entry is removed from the archive jobs list. Test assertions
updated for the EPCIS (Preview) status labels.

* fix(data-import): remove synthetic sample dataset simulation

Delete SAMPLE_EVENTS, the handleLoadSample flow with its state and types,
and the Load Sample Dataset / Run Simulation card. A regression test
asserts the control is not rendered. Real CSV upload and the API guide
are unchanged.

* test(copy): assert csv-sftp display text never renders SFTP

Display labels were already clean (CSV Import); this locks the invariant
for the csv-sftp registry entry name, customer copy, and the
csv_sftp_import delivery-mode label. Stored keys and ids are unchanged.

* fix(receiving): use a comma in generated Receiving Dock location names

New receiving submissions name the location 'Receiving Dock, <supplier>'
instead of using a dash. No existing records are touched.

* fix(inflow-lab): hide Inflow Lab links from dashboard, docs, ingest, integrations and product

* fix(tools): remove Inflow Lab simulator, walkthrough sample payloads and recall drill demo data

Drops tools/inflow-lab components, lib/api-samples ingest walkthrough JSON, synthetic tools/ask and tools/export copy, and invented proof/recall-drill numbers. Recall report shows the #3536 no_data empty state.

* feat(suppliers): agreed sending hours per facility and live late CTE metric

* fix(copy): real-data follow-up to #3471 (v3) (#3544)

* fix(suppliers): lock agreed sending hours to tenant admins

Suppliers no longer set their own late CTE threshold. The write moves to
PUT /v1/supplier/admin/facilities/{facility_id}/agreed-sending-hours,
gated by the tenant Owner or Admin role check from tenant settings (#1386)
and scoped to facilities in the caller's tenant. The supplier dashboard
shows the agreed time read only.

* fix(copy): real-data follow-up to #3471 (v3) (#3544)

Trivial · Add a corrupted files[] case for both verifiers. · test_proof_verify_router.py:599-628

services/ingestion/tests/test_proof_verify_router.py:599-628
🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Add a corrupted files[] case for both verifiers.

The success test uses a valid files[] digest and only asserts success. The router and SDK currently compare each file's SHA-256 value, but the existing tampering tests cover legacy or FDA bundle shapes. A regression in the generic files[] path could therefore pass this test.

Codex review on the exact head 7c72ca6.

Blocking:

  • frontend/src/app/proof/page.tsx:58 brings back <Link href="/sdk/verify_chain.py">. Main's #3569 (dd33b4b, "remove /proof verifier prefetch 404") changed this link to a plain <a href="/sdk/verify_chain.py" download> because next/link prefetch 404s on a .py static file. The 9ea0c11 remerge-diff takes the PR side of page.tsx wholesale, so that fix from main is lost. Please use <a href="/sdk/verify_chain.py" download> inside the Button asChild.

Checked and fine:

  • .gitignore conflict (9ea0c11 remerge-diff): resolved to the PR comment, and the !frontend/public/proof/*.zip rule is kept. That's correct now that no proof zips ship.
  • #3544's "(Preview)" copy applied only to the removed artifact list, so it's correctly dropped.
  • No live references remain to audit-bundle*.zip, epcis-sample.jsonld, fsma-204-sample.csv or build_audit_bundle.sh. The only hits are historical docs/qa/2026-10-02 artifacts and the negative assertion in proof-no-sample.test.tsx.
  • The changed tests add no invented ids or dates.

State: up to date with main, 0 threads unresolved. PR Gate: Backend is pending, and most checks are pending. Head SHA Check Guard and PR Blocker Checklist are failing.

REVIEW: FAIL codex 7c72ca6

Keeps the #3569 fix: a plain download anchor for /sdk/verify_chain.py
instead of a next/link that prefetches and 404s.

Delta 7c72ca6..7d0ddcb: no main merges in range (2 commits). frontend/src/app/proof/page.tsx:58 restores #3569's <a href="/sdk/verify_chain.py" download> (Link replaced). proof-no-sample.test.tsx:14-15 now allows only that download and asserts it exists. vitest proof-no-sample 1/1 pass. Note: branch is 3 behind main.

Delta re-review 7d0ddcb..5cb60c6. The only new branch commit is 'chore: merge origin/main' (parents 7d0ddcb + 206676d), signed off. git show --remerge-diff is empty, so my earlier PASS carries. The PR is 1 commit behind main again.
