fix(copy): remove proof and case-studies pages, point CTE upload copy to /ingest, label EPCIS as preview - #3586
Replaces #3554 (#3554), whose branch commits use a non Conventional copy: prefix. This is #3554's net diff applied on current main as one signed-off commit.
What it does:
Removes /case-studies, /proof and /proof/transformation (pages, opengraph images and public/proof assets)
[cte] page: "Upload your {name} data to RegEngine" with RegEngine linking to /ingest
frontend/tests/visual/routes.json: adds /proof, /proof/transformation and /case-studies to expectRedirectOr404
Two files keep main's version where main moved after #3554 branched (#3560): import order in fsma-204/[cte]/page.tsx and the removed /sandbox/results entry in marketing-analytics-routes.ts.
Note
Low Risk
Frontend and documentation copy/routing only; no auth, ingestion, or persistence logic changes. Main user-facing risk is SEO/navigation shifts away from removed proof and case-study URLs.
Overview
This PR tightens honest, pre-production messaging across marketing and product UI: synthetic proof assets and “validation” pages are retired or hidden, empty states steer users to real intake paths, and EPCIS is consistently labeled (Preview).
Public proof & case studies:/case-studies and /proof/transformation now notFound(); public proof zips/samples are removed; /proof shows a “no public artifacts” empty state instead of downloadable demos. Docs/README/nav/sitemap drop links to regengine.co/proof and case studies; /verify remains the public verifier. Visual route config expects 404s for /case-studies and /proof/transformation.
Copy & UX: FSMA CTE pages link uploads to /ingest (not sandbox). Dashboard/marketing pages use shared NO_DATA_YET / NOT_SET empty copy with CSV/API next steps; security page drops illustrative verifier output; FSMA dashboard removes demo TLC hints and requires a TLC before recall drills. Notice-validator sample notices removed; typography switches display font from Outfit to Inter.
Registry & tests:customer-readiness adds a preview status for EPCIS; new #3554 tests lock in these behaviors; copy-lint baseline updated.

… to /ingest, label EPCIS as preview
Replaces #3554 with a single Conventional Commit on current main. Removes /case-studies, /proof and /proof/transformation and their assets, links the [cte] upload copy to /ingest, and adds the removed routes to routes.json expectRedirectOr404.

It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
The changes remove the public proof and case-study pages, related sample artifacts, and links to those surfaces. The audit-bundle script now builds a bundle from a supplied CSV file. Dashboard and support pages use explicit empty or missing-value displays, and EPCIS is labeled as a preview. Other edits update page copy, typography, and punctuation.
The PR still breaks common audit-bundle workflows and leaves several user-facing inconsistencies that should be corrected before merging.
Security architecture risk: Moderate · up to 0184c
Removing the public sample surfaces reduces exposure. However, reusing an audit-bundle destination can retain earlier exports inside a newly shared ZIP. Relative output paths can also lose the generated bundle after success is reported. The identified exposure is limited to operator-generated archives, not a demonstrated new remote service attack path.
Retained concerns
Medium · security · inferred: Reusing the same output ZIP for exports with different basenames can retain earlier CSV members while replacing the manifest with one declaring only the latest export. Sharing that archive can disclose earlier export data to the latest recipient. Both verifiers reject undeclared members, but that integrity control does not sanitize the archive. This requires operator access to the source exports and reuse of a destination; no automatic cross-tenant service exposure was established.
Low · reliability · inferred: An explicitly supplied relative destination such as bundle.zip resolves inside the temporary workspace because ZIP creation changes directory there. Cleanup then deletes the generated audit artifact after the script reports success, breaking the durable artifact handoff. The absolute default destination is not affected.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The identified confidentiality scope is the historical content of a reused output archive. An operator must first package accessible exports into the same destination; disclosure requires subsequently sharing the resulting archive. The evidence does not establish remote invocation, automatic tenant crossover, new credentials, or broader datastore access.
Security Findings and Attack Paths
inferred — Packaging first-export.csv and then second-export.csv into the same destination can update manifest.json and add the second CSV without deleting the first. A recipient can read the retained first export even though strict verification rejects the archive. This is an accidental data-disclosure path, not a demonstrated verification bypass.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The SDK rejects undeclared archive members and recomputes declared-file hashes and the Merkle root. The API also checks manifest coverage and file hashes. These are existing integrity controls; they do not remove unexpected archive content or prevent its distribution by the builder.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Define bundle publication as replacement rather than archive update: resolve the destination before changing directory, create a fresh archive, validate exact membership and hashes, and publish it only after successful validation. This would separate temporary-workspace ownership from durable output ownership and prevent historical exports from carrying forward.

Delta review of 5bc7490 (one signed-off commit off main 5099c45).
Content checks pass:
/case-studies, /proof and /proof/transformation now call notFound(). OG images, public/proof assets, sitemap and nav entries are gone. A frontend grep finds no remaining links (only a prose mention in frontend/PAGE_AUDIT.md:22).
[cte] reads "Upload your {name} data to RegEngine", with RegEngine linking to /ingest.
routes.json puts all three routes in expectRedirectOr404.
[cte] imports and marketing-analytics-routes match main (#3560). SENSITIVE_ROUTE_PREFIXES is ['/portal'].
Net diff vs #3554 is identical apart from that one /sandbox/results line and blob index hashes.
Blocking: CI is red. The Copy gate fails with 'baseline.json is stale, run --update-baseline' for many files whose counts dropped to 0 (for example tools/notice-validator, trust/*, why-regengine 7->1, customer-readiness 4->1). The copy-gate baseline needs regenerating in this commit. PR Blocker Checklist and Head SHA Check Guard also fail, and about 54 checks were still pending.

The delta is one commit (0184cb0, "fix: restore main's placeholder block in why-regengine") and touches only frontend/src/app/why-regengine/page.tsx (+6/-6).
git diff origin/main 0184cb0e -- frontend/src/app/why-regengine/page.tsx now shows only the PR's intended changes: the "EPCIS (Preview)" wording and the removal of the EPCIS XML example card. The placeholder block near line 418 is identical to main's.
None of the invented values (LOT-2026-001, Organic spinach, 5012345678909, 2026-04-05, cte_abc123def456) is added anywhere in the PR diff. The only match is a removed (-) line in tools/notice-validator/page.tsx.
copy-lint: node --test in scripts/copy-lint at 0184cb0 gave 16 pass, 0 fail, run locally.
The delta has no other changes or regressions.
CI at review time: Copy gate was still pending, PR Blocker Checklist was failing (it printed no failed-step log) and most other checks were pending.
Align the EPCIS delivery label with the preview copy.
The EPCIS entry renders Export Only together with EPCIS export and ingest are in Preview. These claims describe different delivery scopes. Change the customer copy to state that ingest is not included, or change the delivery contract if ingest is supported. The single correction should make the displayed delivery mode and copy agree.

…, copy review fixes
- build_audit_bundle.sh: resolve relative output against caller PWD; build zip in WORK and mv over destination so stale entries never survive
- test_proof_verify_router: drop skips; public-bundle tests build a bundle with the script from a header-only CSV (no record data)
- docs/frontend README: drop dead /proof/recall-drill links, point at dashboard recall drills
- fsma-204 CTE upload link -> /ingest?tab=file (+test)
- fsma RecallTimer start disabled without active TLC
- why-regengine: drop empty md:grid-cols-2 column
Delta review from 0184cb0 to 1e202b1 (one commit, 8 files, +50/-18).
scripts/build_audit_bundle.sh: a relative OUT now resolves against the caller's $PWD before the script changes into the temp dir. The zip is built fresh at $WORK/bundle.zip and moved into place with mv -f only after zip succeeds, so files from an earlier build can't carry over. The script keeps set -euo pipefail and trap 'rm -rf "$WORK"' EXIT, and its paths are quoted. No path or cleanup bugs found.
services/ingestion/tests/test_proof_verify_router.py: all 3 skips are removed. The bundles come from the real builder script with a header-only CSV, so no record data is used. The tamper test changes the CSV bytes after packaging. Ran locally: 43 passed, 0 skipped.
Copy fixes: the dead /proof/recall-drill links now point to dashboard/recall-drills, which exists. The CTA links to /ingest?tab=file, which the ingest page handles. onStartDrill is gated on activeTlc. The EPCIS section is single-column. The empty-states assertion is updated to match.
Review threads: all 15 threads on the PR are resolved, and the ones this commit targets are addressed in the diff.
Real data: this commit adds no invented values.
Local checks: copy-lint tests 16/16 pass and check-copy exits 0. I couldn't run the frontend vitest because vitest isn't installed in this worktree.
CI was still running at review time. Head SHA Check Guard and PR Blocker Checklist were failing, likely because they wait on a review.
972a3f0 is a merge commit (parents 1e202b1 + origin/main eeefc57); git rev-list --no-merges 1e202b1d..972a3f07 --not origin/main is empty, so no new branch commits.
git show --remerge-diff: only the two conflicted files differ from a mechanical remerge.
frontend/src/app/docs/walkthrough/page.tsx: conflict resolved to main's wording ("...one shipping event. That is three events in a single supplier-to-shipping chain."). No new values, lot codes, or entities introduced.
scripts/copy-lint/baseline.json: resolution only lowers counts or drops entries (fsma-204-cte-kde-guide epcis-unlabeled 5 vs main's 6; ingest/page.tsx 3 -> 2; entries for regengine-vs-spreadsheets-traceability, controls, docs/api/ApiReferenceClient, onboarding/bulk-upload, proof, tools/notice-validator removed). No count increased.
node scripts/copy-lint/check-copy.mjs at 972a3f0 exits 0, so the regenerated baseline matches the merged tree. Worktree clean.
No invented data in the delta.
Tests not re-run locally (host load above threshold); relying on CI.

Delta for main merge 08b21b2: remerge-diff is non-empty only in docs/PRODUCT_DESCRIPTION.md:32. Correct. Branch is 1 behind main.

Delta re-review 08b21b2..001a7a9. The only new branch commit is 'chore: merge origin/main' (parents 08b21b2 + 206676d), signed off. git show --remerge-diff is empty, so my earlier PASS carries. The PR is 1 commit behind main again.

Other PR intent survives (case-studies/transformation hidden, CTE copy -> /ingest, EPCIS Preview labels). No invented test data added by the delta.
FAIL: /proof resolution is inconsistent with the PR's own tests.
frontend/src/app/proof/page.tsx:23 now takes main's renderable "No public artifacts are published yet" empty state, but:
frontend/src/tests/pages/proof-trust-copy.test.tsx:60 still asserts expect(() => ProofPage()).toThrow(). That test will fail against the kept component.
frontend/tests/visual/routes.json still lists /proof under expectRedirectOr404 (enforced by frontend/tests/visual/pages.visual.spec.ts:106), but the page now renders 200.
Fix: either keep main's empty state and update both expectations (test asserts the empty-state copy; move /proof out of expectRedirectOr404), or keep the PR's removal of /proof. Pick one so the code and the tests agree.
CI at review time: most required checks still pending; Head SHA Check Guard / PR Blocker Checklist cancelled.
frontend/src/tests/pages/proof-trust-copy.test.tsx:59: now renders ProofPage and asserts /no public artifacts are published yet/i, matching the EmptyState title at frontend/src/app/proof/page.tsx:39; the UNBACKED_AUTHENTICITY_CLAIMS loop is kept.
frontend/tests/visual/routes.json: /proof removed from expectRedirectOr404 and back in public and priority, the same as origin/main. The only remaining routes.json differences from main are the PR's intended /case-studies and /proof/transformation moves to expectRedirectOr404.
git grep: no remaining test or spec expects /proof to throw or 404.
No other files changed and no invented test data. Static check only (no node_modules in the review worktree), so CI's frontend tests are the runtime confirmation.
