fix(frontend): EPCIS Preview labels, remove made-up data and dashes, drop Outfit - #3554
Low Risk
Changes are mostly public marketing UI, removed static fixtures, and copy—not auth, ingestion, or tenant isolation. Broken external links to retired /proof URLs are the main operational concern.
Overview
This PR stops presenting fabricated proof content as if it were production evidence. The main /proof and /proof/transformation routes now notFound(), /case-studies is hidden the same way, and tracked synthetic downloads (FSMA CSV, EPCIS JSON-LD, audit ZIPs) are removed. Docs, nav, sitemap, and README links shift the public story to /verify and bundles from your own exports, not pre-built samples.
Empty states and copy are aligned with that posture: dashboard and marketing surfaces use shared NO_DATA_YET / NOT_SET labels, illustrative verifier transcripts and demo TLC hints go away, and CTAs point at /ingest or API docs instead of samples. EPCIS is labeled Preview consistently (registry status, ingest UI, records sources, blog/compare copy). Outfit is dropped; Inter is used for display typography.
Tooling and tests follow: build_audit_bundle.sh requires a real export CSV path and no longer writes into frontend/public/proof, proof ZIP round-trip API tests are skipped until real bundles exist, and empty-states-3554.test.ts locks several of these behaviors.

The frontend adds EPCIS preview labels across public and dashboard pages. It changes FSMA drill behavior and empty-state content, and updates missing-value displays. The changes hide selected case-study and proof routes, remove synthetic examples, and update audit-bundle generation to use a supplied CSV. They also change the display-font configuration and revise interface copy.
Before merging, fix the visual route classification for /case-studies. This is likely to break the visual suite. Also make the audit-bundle script build a fresh ZIP on each run. The remaining items are documentation wording, test strictness, and skipped tests, which are small follow-ups.
Security architecture risk: Moderate · up to 1f80e
Reusing an output ZIP can retain records from an earlier export even though its new manifest describes only the latest file. Sharing that bundle could disclose unintended records. Verification detects the inconsistency, and automatic publication is removed, but neither prevents stale data from remaining in the generated archive.
Retained concerns
Medium · security · inferred: The real-export bundle contract does not isolate successive outputs. If export A is packaged and a differently named export B later uses the same destination ZIP, the in-place update can retain A while replacing the manifest with one declaring only B. Distributing the resulting archive can disclose A to B's intended recipient. Existing verifiers reject the undeclared member but do not remove its bytes. The underlying update behavior existed before this PR; accepting real exports with caller-selected basenames broadens its confidentiality consequences.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The identified exposure is bounded to files already readable by the packaging operator and records remaining in a reused output archive. Disclosure requires that archive to be distributed or otherwise exposed. No new remote read authority is established, and the default output no longer targets the public frontend directory.
Security Findings and Attack Paths
inferred — A confidentiality failure can occur without bypassing verification: package one export, reuse the destination for a differently named export, and distribute the ZIP without first rejecting it through a verifier. The earlier file can remain readable even though the new manifest omits it. This is a source-derived architecture concern, not a demonstrated production incident.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The existing offline verifier rejects undeclared archive members. The ingestion verifier records manifest coverage failure and requires all checks to pass before reporting verified. Neither production verifier changes in this PR. These controls prevent verified acceptance of stale-member bundles but do not sanitize the archive.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Create a fresh archive for each invocation and publish it only after successful construction, using atomic replacement or refusing an existing destination. This would prevent stale-member carryover and keep failed construction from being mistaken for a newly completed bundle.

Disable the recall-drill action until a lot is selected
When the FSMA dashboard is opened with experimental features enabled and no active drill, activeTlc is initially null, so clicking “Run Recall Drill” now silently returns without starting anything. The RecallTimer caller still passes an unconditional onStartDrill callback, which keeps that button enabled; unlike ComplianceReadiness, it does not account for the newly required lot selection. Pass an undefined callback until a lot is selected and explain that prerequisite, or prompt for a real lot when the action is clicked.
Head unchanged at 574bf49. Checked out read-only: tsc --noEmit clean. The vitest failures I saw locally (posthog/conversion/cookie-banner, localStorage undefined) come from my local Node 26 and aren't in files this PR touches. Removing invented content (TLC1001 fallback, sample lots, sample notices, EPCIS snippet) and the Outfit font is consistent across css, tokens, layout and docs. Two non-blocking nits: (1) RecallTimer onStartDrill at fsma/page.tsx:327 now does nothing silently when no TLC is entered; consider gating it like line 334. (2) records/page.tsx drops the 'edi' label, so any edi-sourced rows will show the raw key 'edi'. CI was still pending at review time.
Main was merged into claude/copy-fix-epcis-preview at the new head (574bf497d89f530eb49845de09679af09a1a3777).
Because merge commits created with GITHUB_TOKEN do not trigger workflows, a push to this branch or a manual CI re-run is needed for checks to run on it.
REVIEW: PASS pi 828d2b9
Delta since 574bf49 is only the github-actions main sync merge (clean, no manual conflict resolution; parents = prior PASS head + main), no PR code changes.
The synthetic data is still published. frontend/public/proof/audit-bundle.zip and audit-bundle-tampered.zip are still tracked and served. audit-bundle.zip contains the same fsma-204-sample.csv and epcis-sample.jsonld this commit deletes, and its manifest says "_comment": "SYNTHETIC ... data is not". The fixtures need replacing or removing. services/ingestion/tests/test_proof_verify_router.py (lines 579-633) reads both zips, and its docstring says they are "linked from /proof", so it needs updating too.
Live links still point to the removed /proof page: README.md:9 and :391, docs/PRODUCT_DESCRIPTION.md:32 (regengine.co/proof), frontend/README.md:18, and docs/security/PRE_PUBLIC_CHECKLIST.md:75. The /proof link on LICENSE:26 and the verify_chain.py docstring are wording only.
Verified OK:
EPCIS: the registry entry is GS1 EPCIS 2.0 (Preview) with a new preview status labeled Preview. Both integrations pages have tones for it, and why-regengine has Preview labels.
/proof calls notFound(). The footer link, the sitemap entry, the fsma-204 "Try it" link and the analytics route are removed. No remaining frontend hrefs to /proof or /case-studies. Hits in docs/qa/**/artifacts are historical snapshots.
build_audit_bundle.sh now requires an export path, exits 2 with a usage message, and no longer writes into frontend/public. It has no callers in CI or scripts, only the new test.
The empty states use NO_DATA_YET = 'No data yet', with /ingest and /docs/api actions. Support fields use NOT_SET = 'Not set'.
No invented data, no added em or en dashes and no secrets in the added lines.
fsma-204/[cte]/page.tsx:426: "to the sandbox" is now a "RegEngine" link to /ingest. Link is already imported (line 2). The copy reads correctly ("...data to RegEngine and RegEngine surfaces..."), with a slight repetition of "RegEngine" that is non-blocking.
Update the stale reference to the "public proof surface above".
Line 9 no longer links to the public proof page, and /proof now returns 404. Line 387 still says that transparency and audit "are served by the public proof surface above". Change this to refer to the public verifier (/verify). This matches the wording in docs/security/PRE_PUBLIC_CHECKLIST.md.
Proposed fix
-Transparency and audit are served by the public proof surface above, which requires no source access;+Transparency and audit are served by the public verifier above, which requires no source access;

Remove the claim about public sample EPCIS downloads.
This PR deletes frontend/public/proof/epcis-sample.jsonld, and the new test checks that the file is absent. Line 34 still says that "Public sample EPCIS downloads are a separate proof surface." No such download remains. The document is the canonical product description, so this capability claim is now false. Delete that sentence.

frontend/src/app/case-studies/page.tsx calls notFound() unconditionally. The public smoke test records the resulting 404 as a same-origin failure, so /case-studies cannot remain in routes.public. Move it to expectRedirectOr404.
Add excludedReason entries for /case-studies, /proof, and /proof/transformation. The route cross-check requires a reason for every non-public route.
Also add exclusion reasons for all three routes in excludedReason.

Move /case-studies from public to expectRedirectOr404 in the route data, and add
excludedReason entries for /case-studies, /proof, and /proof/transformation so
every non-public route has a reason.

Remove the skipped tests for retired ZIP fixtures.
The public proof ZIPs are no longer supported fixtures. These methods cannot validate a supported workflow. A permanent skip hides dead coverage. Delete these tests with the retired fixtures. Keep the active generated-bundle tests for normal and tampered verification.
Also applies to: 629-629

Keep the generic verifier test active.
This test checks a verifier contract that is independent of the retired public ZIP. Build its input with an existing generated-bundle helper instead of skipping the method. Otherwise, regressions in the API or SDK verifier can pass unnoticed.

Re-running the merge yields exactly one conflict, frontend/src/lib/marketing-analytics-routes.ts. The committed tree differs from git's auto-merge only by that hunk, resolved as the union of both removals (/sandbox from main, /proof from this PR). No other edits.
The PR's own changes against the new main are byte-identical, per file and over the same file set, to its diff at 84e9869. The merge brings in main's changes only.
The /proof/recall-drill page and sample_recall_drill.csv are untouched (C.Lee's exception). Dropping '/proof' from PUBLIC_MARKETING_SECTIONS only stops /proof/* paths being labelled in marketing analytics; it doesn't remove or break the route.
CI at review time: 26 pass, 0 failures besides Engine Review Pass (which awaits this review), and 46 still queued or pending. The merge gate still needs those green.
Resolve conflicts with #3543, #3557, #3561, #3572 and #3580:
- keep /case-studies, /proof and /proof/transformation hidden (notFound) and drop case-studies OG image
- CTE help copy keeps 'Upload your {name} data to RegEngine' with the /ingest link; closing CTA uses main's sandboxCta() blurb (sandbox retired), test updated to match
- keep EPCIS (Preview) labels; take main's empty states for trust scheduled exports and walkthrough package details
- drop both proof/samples zip exceptions from .gitignore (files removed)
- routes.json: main's version plus /proof and /proof/transformation moved to expectRedirectOr404

… to /ingest, label EPCIS as preview (#3586)
* fix(copy): remove proof and case-studies pages, point CTE upload copy to /ingest, label EPCIS as preview
Replaces #3554 with a single Conventional Commit on current main. Removes /case-studies, /proof and /proof/transformation and their assets, links the [cte] upload copy to /ingest, and adds the removed routes to routes.json expectRedirectOr404.

* fix(copy): refresh copy-lint baseline and drop walkthrough dashes
Regenerated scripts/copy-lint/baseline.json with --update-baseline: 46 entries removed, 5 lowered, none raised. Replaced the two em dashes in docs/walkthrough inherited from main so no entry is added.

* fix: restore main's placeholder block in why-regengine
* fix(#3586): audit bundle output path + fresh zip, unskip verify tests, copy review fixes
- build_audit_bundle.sh: resolve relative output against caller PWD; build zip in WORK and mv over destination so stale entries never survive
- test_proof_verify_router: drop skips; public-bundle tests build a bundle with the script from a header-only CSV (no record data)
- docs/frontend README: drop dead /proof/recall-drill links, point at dashboard recall drills
- fsma-204 CTE upload link -> /ingest?tab=file (+test)
- fsma RecallTimer start disabled without active TLC
- why-regengine: drop empty md:grid-cols-2 column
* test(proof): expect empty state instead of removed route

Note
Low Risk
Changes are mostly public marketing UI, removed static fixtures, and copy—not auth, ingestion, or tenant isolation. Broken external links to retired
/proofURLs are the main operational concern.Overview
This PR stops presenting fabricated proof content as if it were production evidence. The main
/proofand/proof/transformationroutes nownotFound(),/case-studiesis hidden the same way, and tracked synthetic downloads (FSMA CSV, EPCIS JSON-LD, audit ZIPs) are removed. Docs, nav, sitemap, and README links shift the public story to/verifyand bundles from your own exports, not pre-built samples.Empty states and copy are aligned with that posture: dashboard and marketing surfaces use shared
NO_DATA_YET/NOT_SETlabels, illustrative verifier transcripts and demo TLC hints go away, and CTAs point at/ingestor API docs instead of samples. EPCIS is labeled Preview consistently (registry status, ingest UI, records sources, blog/compare copy). Outfit is dropped; Inter is used for display typography.Tooling and tests follow:
build_audit_bundle.shrequires a real export CSV path and no longer writes intofrontend/public/proof, proof ZIP round-trip API tests are skipped until real bundles exist, andempty-states-3554.test.tslocks several of these behaviors.Reviewed by Cursor Bugbot for commit 57610cf.
