Replaces invented data in the free tools and two marketing pages with empty states or neutral copy. Real data only; tests stay data-free.

  • Drill simulator (a recall-simulation feature, so it stays working): removed Load Sample Data, the three invented scenarios (incl. "Fresh Produce Supplier"), and "synthetic drill data" copy. The sample CSV (14 invented rows) is now a header-only template.
  • fsma-unified: the dashboard only ran on generated data, so AnomalySimulator.tsx is deleted and the client shows an empty state.
  • Knowledge graph: hardcoded seeded nodes removed, empty state when no data; test now asserts no fake data and covers traversal with abstract a→b→c nodes.
  • SOP generator: Valley Fresh Farms / Jane Smith / product placeholders removed.
  • proof/transformation: invented lots, companies, GLNs, PO/BOL numbers and dates replaced with a field-shape walkthrough.
  • why-regengine: LOT-2026-001 and the invented GLN/dates replaced with <placeholders>.
  • lib/api-samples/required-kdes.json kept: it's a KDE field-name spec from the FDA rule, no records.

Untouched: recall simulations, epcis_export.py, proof_recall_router.py, #3524 files, uv.lock, ci.yml. tsc: no errors in changed files (errors left are the existing ones on main that #3524 fixes). eslint clean; KnowledgeGraph tests 8/8.

Reviewer: Gemini. Do not merge: merge freeze is on.

Note

Low Risk
Mostly copy, UI flow, and removal of demo-only code paths; no auth, payments, or server data handling changes in the diff.

Overview
This PR strips invented demo data from several free tools and marketing snippets, steering users toward real uploads or empty states with links to the Data Import Hub.

Drill simulator drops the three preset scenarios and scenario selection state; users start with Start Drill: Upload Your Records and go straight to upload. Reports, results copy, and lead-gate context no longer reference a scenario name or “synthetic drill data.”

FSMA unified (cold chain) removes the entire AnomalySimulator client (synthetic 90-day charts, lead gate, dynamic import). The dashboard is now an empty state with a CTA to Data Import Hub.

Knowledge graph removes the seeded graph generator (mulberry32 / seededScenario); the graph starts empty and shows an empty state with Import traceability data. Tests now assert no hardcoded supply-chain records and keep traceNodes coverage on abstract edges.

SOP generator removes example placeholders (company names, products, facilities). why-regengine replaces concrete lot codes, GLNs, and IDs in API/EPCIS samples with neutral placeholders.

Walkthrough

The changes replace populated sample records and seeded demos across frontend pages and tools. The transformation page describes field mappings and user-supplied values. The drill uses uploaded records and provides a CSV header template. The cold-chain dashboard displays an empty state instead of the anomaly simulator. The knowledge graph starts empty. Form and documentation examples use placeholders instead of specific sample values.

Priority: Low

Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~25 minutes

Merge Risk: High · up to 0573d

Merging leaves important tools empty after data import and publishes incomplete or misleading guidance. These user-facing issues should be fixed before merge.

Security architecture risk: Minimal · up to 2484a

The reviewed changes remove simulated records without introducing new data access or ingestion privileges. Import links retain the existing upload flow. The dashboard and graph remain empty-state experiences, not newly connected views of imported records.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The inspected change affects public tool presentation and navigation without adding tenant selection, credentials, protected-record loading, or direct service calls to the changed dashboard and graph entrypoints. The new links improve discoverability of an existing import surface but do not themselves grant ingestion authority.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The removed dashboard LeadGate enclosed a synthetic simulator, not a protected-data consumer. The underlying EmailGate renders tool children publicly, including for unverified visitors; its removal here is not removal of a data-authorization boundary. Backend ingestion authorization remains outside the verified source slice.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — The drill retains browser-local file selection and validation. Its analysis handler prevents overlapping runs, returns to upload after failure, and releases the in-flight guard; reset clears the selected file and results. The PR removes scenario identity and sample-loading paths without changing these execution and recovery controls.

REVIEW: FAIL gemini a9804a7

The data removal itself is good. The fail is for new empty-state copy that claims things the product cannot do.

Blocking:

  1. fsma-unified/UnifiedDashboardClient.tsx
    • The subtitle "Ensemble, statistical, rule-based, and pattern-drift detection over your own cold-chain temperature and lot-flow records" is a new capability claim. Those algorithms existed only in the deleted AnomalySimulator.tsx. On main, git grep for ensemble or pattern drift in services/ and frontend/src finds nothing else, so nothing implements them now.
    • The EmptyState says "Connect or upload your temperature stream", but this page has no connect or upload control.
    • Please replace both with honest copy that states what the page does today, with no promised capabilities.
  2. knowledge-graph/KnowledgeGraph.tsx
    • nodes and edges start as [] and nothing ever loads them: there is no fetch, setEdges is never called, and setNodes only runs inside the drag handler.
    • So the graph, trace controls and inspector can never be reached, while the EmptyState says "Once your data is connected ... appear here" with no way to connect.
    • Either wire a real data source or say plainly that the builder is not available yet. Remove or comment the unreachable UI.

Verified OK:

  • No invented data is left in the touched files: no names, lots, GLNs, sample CSV rows, metrics or testimonials. Placeholders are style only. why-regengine and proof/transformation now show only shapes and field mappings.
  • Drill simulator flow: "Start drill" moves to upload, then analyze, results and report. All handlers are wired and the imports resolve. The template download is a header-only CSV matching the validator's columns.
  • The deleted component leaves no dangling references. The only remaining AnomalySimulator name is /tools/anomaly-simulator/page.tsx, an existing permanentRedirect to /tools/drill-simulator.
  • KnowledgeGraph.test.ts uses abstract ids (a/b/c) and checks the source for empty data.
  • No en or em dashes in the added public copy.
  • tsc: CI shows 10 errors, all in ErrorState and dashboard files this PR does not touch. They are the main collision that #3524 fixes, and none are in the touched files.
  • Unit Tests: the same 10 failures in the same 5 files as main job 120366116851. This PR adds 2 passing tests.
  • Frontend Unused File Guard: the 9 knip files are unrelated to this PR.

Not merging: merge freeze.

However, if you receive a food from a person who is exempt from the rule, you must assign a traceability lot code (unless you are a retail food establishment or restaurant) - 21 CFR 1.1345(b).

## What is a traceability lot code?

A traceability lot code means a descriptor, often alphanumeric, used to uniquely identify a traceability lot within the records of the traceability lot code source (defined below). This is similar to what industry currently refers to as a ‘lot’ or ‘lot code’.

Unless the relevant entity is exempt from the rule, the traceability lot code is assigned when the food is initially packed (for raw agricultural commodities not obtained from a fishing vessel), received by the first land-based receiver (for food obtained from a fishing vessel), or transformed. Once a TLC is assigned, it must stay the same as the food moves through the supply chain; it can only be changed if the food is transformed.

### What are some examples of traceability lot codes?

Several food industry-supported traceability initiatives offer best practices and standards for uniquely identifying a lot of food using a combination of a globally unique product identifier, firm-assigned internal lot code, and standard date code. </excerpt>

Describe the TLC as linked from initial packing.

For covered produce, the TLC is assigned at initial packing, not harvesting. The harvesting step can capture harvest KDEs and link them to that TLC. It must not say that harvesting defines the TLC. The current section label also incorrectly uses §1.1330; harvesting belongs under §1.1325.

This is a static proof/marketing-copy issue. It can mislead suppliers, but it does not directly alter stored traceability data.

Update the harvesting proof section so it uses §1.1325 and describes harvest
KDEs as linked to the TLC assigned at initial packing, rather than defining the
TLC at harvest. Align the related CSV note, example TLC value, canonical and FDA
annotations, and field mapping with that same initial-packing linkage.

Correct the temperature mapping. No Fahrenheit conversion runs on this path.

The walkthrough states that temperature_celsius is normalized to °F and mapped to the FDA temperature column. No code path does this. The conversion helper normalize_temperature exists, but nothing outside services/shared/rules/uom.py calls it. The FDA spreadsheet writes the raw temperature KDE unchanged. The page describes an output the code does not produce.

Suggested fix: state the actual pass-through behavior
- "temperature": "<temperature_celsius, normalized to °F>",
+ "temperature": "<temperature, as supplied>",

+ "TLC linkage proves continuity from harvest.",
- ["Temperature (°F)", "← temperature_celsius, normalized"],
+ ["Temperature", "← temperature, as supplied"],

If a °F conversion is intended, the export path must call normalize_temperature and map its result to the temperature KDE. Then the page can keep its current wording.

Add a TLC source column to the CSV template.

tlcSource is a distinct parsed field. Source GLN and Reference Document map to different fields and do not populate it. Although the local required-KDE checks do not currently require tlcSource, users cannot provide it through the supplied template without adding a column manually.

Do not promise results that this page cannot display.

UnifiedDashboardClient always renders “No cold-chain data connected.” It does not read connected records or switch to charts, flagged lots, or risk scores after an upload. The empty state also has no upload action. Connect the page to a real data path before promising those results, or describe the tool as unavailable until that path exists.

Connect a graph data source. The empty state is permanent and disables the tool.

Nothing at this head can add nodes or edges. nodes and edges start as empty arrays, and the component takes no props. Both setNodes callers that change the array only copy or move existing items, and no setEdges call exists. Because nodes.length === 0 returns the empty state, the graph, trace controls, and inspector are unreachable. Before this PR, the seeded graph kept these controls usable. The empty-state copy says the graph appears "once your data is connected," but no connection path exists in this component.

Load nodes and edges from traceability records, or pass them in as component inputs. The data source must be defined before the empty-state branch can be removed or narrowed. The change needs design work, so no localized diff is proposed.

Give the product and facility inputs accessible names.

The product and facility rows have no <label>, and their placeholders were the only text that gave them a name. After this change, screen-reader users get no name for these controls. Give each row an aria-label that does not reuse fabricated example values.

For the three labeled inputs, the <label> elements have no htmlFor, and the inputs have no id. Add a matching id/htmlFor pair. Input spreads its remaining props onto the native <input>, so an id passed to it reaches the DOM.

Use a valid timestamp placeholder in the XML example.

The template literal does not cause a JSX or TypeScript error, and the browser renders it as text. However, copying this displayed EPCIS block as XML fails because <event timestamp> is not a valid element and has no matching closing tag.

REVIEW: PASS gemini 2484a62

The change since a9804a7 touches only UnifiedDashboardClient.tsx and KnowledgeGraph.tsx.

  • fsma-unified: the subtitle no longer promises any detection ("Review cold-chain temperature and lot-flow records in one place."). The EmptyState reads "No cold-chain data yet" with "Open the Data Import Hub", which links to /tools/data-import.
  • KnowledgeGraph: the EmptyState now says honestly that no data source is connected and that the view does not fetch data on its own. It has an "Import traceability data" link to /tools/data-import. No fetch was added.
  • /tools/data-import exists (page.tsx). It supports CSV/XLSX upload of CTE records, including Cooling, and an IoT tab for temperature logs (POST /api/v1/ingest/iot/sensitech). So both links point to a real import path.
  • No invented data and no en or em dashes in the added lines.
  • KnowledgeGraph.test.ts passes locally: 8 of 8.
  • Local tsc errors are all in files this PR does not touch (the ErrorState collision on main, #3524), none in the changed files.
  • CI Unit Tests: the same 10 failures in the same 5 files as main job 120366116851.

Non-blocking:

  • Importing data does not populate either view yet, because neither component fetches. A follow-up should wire them up or keep the copy as it is now.
  • DataImportClient.tsx (not touched here) still has invented SAMPLE_EVENTS (Green Valley Farm, TLC1001 and others), and both new links now point users to it. It should get the same cleanup.

Not merging: merge freeze.

Branch updated with main

Main was merged into claude/remove-tool-fake-data at the new head (ea0fba1bab8ae8a41936bfdb9c342d4fb9c2b497).

Because merge commits created with GITHUB_TOKEN do not trigger workflows, a push to this branch or a manual CI re-run is needed for checks to run on it.

REVIEW: PASS grok ea0fba1

Full review against merge-base 658bc7f (current main). Commits: a9804a7, 2484a62, and ea0fba1 (a clean bot merge of main). 9 files, +267/-907, frontend only.

Correctness

  • AnomalySimulator.tsx is deleted, and nothing imports it anymore. The only remaining match is the /tools/anomaly-simulator redirect page's own function name. generateSampleCSV is removed and has no callers. The drill simulator now uses generateCsvTemplate(), which returns a header-only row matching the validator's columns.
  • The KnowledgeGraph component starts with empty nodes and edges and renders an EmptyState. The fsma-unified view shows an EmptyState that links to /tools/data-import.
  • proof/transformation and why-regengine now use <placeholder> field shapes and column mappings instead of records.

Real-data check

  • The diff adds no invented companies, lots, GLNs, dates or people. The test uses abstract a→b→c identifiers, which is data-free and allowed.

Tests (run locally at this SHA)

  • vitest src/app/tools/knowledge-graph: 8/8 passed.
  • tsc --noEmit: 0 errors.
  • eslint on all changed directories: clean.
  • CI: 8 pass. The only failure is the non-required visual-report.

Out of scope, flagged separately: invented records already on main are still in other /tools files this PR doesn't touch. They are tools/export/page.tsx SAMPLE_RECORDS (TLC-2024-00x, "Farm A, California"), tools/ask/page.tsx (GLNs 0614141234567-70, "Goodrich Farm CA") and tools/data-import DataImportClient.tsx (sample dataset, "Green Valley Farm, Salinas"). They don't block this PR.

Delta review of merge 0573d0d (parents 3392741 = prior head, 66a5146 = main incl. #3557). Resolutions in DrillSimulatorClient.tsx match the description (generateSampleCSV import and handleLoadSampleData removed, 'Download CSV template' label from main), and record-validator.ts takes main's CSV_TEMPLATE_HEADERS + generateCsvTemplate with generateSampleCSV dropped.

Blocking:

  • frontend/src/app/tools/drill-simulator/lib/record-validator.ts:912 — stray closing brace left after generateCsvTemplate() from the conflict resolution (the PR side's old function closer). tsc fails: TS1128 'Declaration or statement expected' at 912:1. Vercel and Bundle Size Check are already failing on this head. Fix: delete line 912.

Otherwise no imports of deleted sandbox files and no /sandbox links introduced.

Delta review 0573d0d..1243085: the only change deletes the stray } after generateCsvTemplate() in frontend/src/app/tools/drill-simulator/lib/record-validator.ts (~L912), which fixes the prior FAIL. tsc --noEmit is clean at this head. There are no drill-simulator-specific vitest files. frontend-hygiene and experimental-features tests pass (20/20).

REVIEW: FAIL muse f0755be

  • Blocking: this PR deletes the protected drill simulator sample-data path. It removes generateSampleCSV from tools/drill-simulator/lib/record-validator.ts, and handleLoadSampleData plus the Load Sample Data button from DrillSimulatorClient.tsx. Under the recall ruling, those two are the only protected sample-data items and they have to stay. Please restore them as they are on main.
  • OK: main merged in at the expected head; proof/transformation isn't in the diff, so it's main's version ("No worked example is published yet"); no conflict markers. The rest of the diff removes made-up data and I didn't see any added.
  • CI: Copy gate fails on files this PR doesn't touch (pre-existing). Other checks were failing on review gates or still pending.

REVIEW: FAIL muse 39e11e6

Fixed: generateSampleCSV is back. record-validator.ts is identical to main. handleLoadSampleData and the Load Sample Data button are restored in DrillSimulatorClient.tsx. Removing the three made-up scenario cards is good.

Blocking (one line, two places): DrillSimulatorClient.tsx ~L526 and ~L604 now say "Self-check on the records you uploaded." That's false when the user clicked Load Sample Data, which is still a supported path. Please use wording that's true for both paths, e.g. "Self-check on the records analyzed. Not a compliance verdict." I'll pass on that delta.

The Copy gate failure comes from main's own baseline, not this PR.

* fix(dashboard): drop fabricated demo data from recall report page

Remove the hardcoded demo investigation stats and affected-lot rows
(invented suppliers, lot codes, consumer counts). Demo mode now renders
the same No data yet empty state with a link to import records.

* feat(copy): label every EPCIS intake and export mention as (Preview)

EPCIS is preview on both paths, so feature-name mentions across app and
marketing copy now carry the (Preview) marker. The integrations eyebrow
now reads CSV upload, JSON events API, EPCIS (Preview). The FDA sortable
export stays unlabeled. Stored keys and option values are unchanged.

* fix(copy): keep typed EPCIS format value unlabeled in customer-readiness

The format field is a string union used for logic; the (Preview) marker
stays on the display name only.

* feat(pricing): show honest unavailable state when billing is unreachable

Drop the hardcoded tier prices and the silent fallback. Prices now come
only from the billing service; when it cannot be reached the page renders
a Pricing is temporarily unavailable state with signup and contact links
instead of invented figures. Hardcoded dollar amounts in the pricing copy
and metadata are removed as well. EPCIS 2.0 export carries the (Preview)
label; the FDA sortable export stays unlabeled.

* fix(app): remove sample and sandbox banners and the simulated ingest walkthrough

Dashboard shell and DemoBanner now say No data yet with a link to connect
real data on the Ingest page. The ingest page no longer fakes a job for
the first example URL; it submits for real. The Sample: Daily FDA package
archive entry is removed from the archive jobs list. Test assertions
updated for the EPCIS (Preview) status labels.

* fix(data-import): remove synthetic sample dataset simulation

Delete SAMPLE_EVENTS, the handleLoadSample flow with its state and types,
and the Load Sample Dataset / Run Simulation card. A regression test
asserts the control is not rendered. Real CSV upload and the API guide
are unchanged.

* test(copy): assert csv-sftp display text never renders SFTP

Display labels were already clean (CSV Import); this locks the invariant
for the csv-sftp registry entry name, customer copy, and the
csv_sftp_import delivery-mode label. Stored keys and ids are unchanged.

* fix(receiving): use a comma in generated Receiving Dock location names

New receiving submissions name the location 'Receiving Dock, <supplier>'
instead of using a dash. No existing records are touched.

* fix(inflow-lab): hide Inflow Lab links from dashboard, docs, ingest, integrations and product

* fix(tools): remove Inflow Lab simulator, walkthrough sample payloads and recall drill demo data

Drops tools/inflow-lab components, lib/api-samples ingest walkthrough JSON, synthetic tools/ask and tools/export copy, and invented proof/recall-drill numbers. Recall report shows the #3536 no_data empty state.

Delta since my FAIL at 39e11e6 is one commit (e053dd2). Both results notes in DrillSimulatorClient.tsx now read "Self-check on the records analyzed. Not a compliance verdict." * feat(suppliers): agreed sending hours per facility and live late CTE metric

Adds supplier_facilities.agreed_sending_hours (nullable, positive) with Alembic and Supabase migrations and downgrades, a tenant scoped PUT route and dashboard control, and computes the late CTE metric against the agreed sending time.

Signed-off-by: Christopher <131207452+PetrefiedThunder@users.noreply.github.com>

* feat(epcis): record a receipt for every EPCIS document and live failure metric

Adds fsma.epcis_document_receipts with forced RLS and tenant policies (Alembic and Supabase migrations with downgrades), writes an accepted or rejected receipt with a sanitized error summary from the EPCIS ingest routes, and computes the EPCIS failure metric.

* test(epcis): size receipt batches from MIN_RECORDS and check partial counts are ints

Signed-off-by: Christopher <131207452+PetrefiedThunder@users.noreply.github.com>

* test(security): count the agreed sending hours PUT as a dual session CSRF mutation

Signed-off-by: Christopher <131207452+PetrefiedThunder@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(copy): real-data follow-up to #3471 (v3) (#3544)

* feat(suppliers): track data gap time to fix per supplier

Open one gap event per flagged missing KDE or failed CTE validation, close it only when a passing record for the same lot and CTE arrives, and store a receipt hash of the closing record. Adds a per supplier view with open gaps, median time to fix, oldest open gap and a 24 hour at risk flag citing 21 CFR 1.1455(c)(1). Migration included but not applied.

* ci: trigger required gates

* fix(ci): Engine Review Pass picks up real PASS markers (#3577)

* fix(ci): Engine Review Pass reads issue comment markers and allows pi, deepseek, devops

Real PASS markers on #3553, #3547, #3530 and #3527 were ignored: pi was not an
allowed engine, issue comment markers were never read, and devops/ branches
failed as an invalid author engine. Also rerun on PR issue comments.

* fix(copy-gate): reject unparseable registry, fail on baseline lookup errors, diff pushes against event.before

* chore(copy-lint): refresh baseline after main removed sandbox copy (SEL-452)

* chore(copy-gate): refresh copy baseline after merging main (counts only dropped)

* fix(schema): include public.data_gap_events in expected schema snapshot

Regenerate docs/schema/expected_schema.json from a fresh alembic upgrade head so the RLS isolation suite schema parity check stops reporting EXTRA TABLE for the v135 data gap migration.
