feat: split joined artist credits by decision, and a needs attention page - #316
Implements RFC-015 in full, every step of its order of work in one PR: splitting a joined artist credit by decision, and the "Needs attention" page.
Splitting a credit
src/credit_split.rs: the second step after tags::credits, as a pure function. It handles the desktop's four separator characters (,,、、), cuts nowhere inside parentheses, computes the folded key, and decides what counts as a candidate. resolve() applies a library's decisions to a track's first-step credits:
each part takes the role it replaces, in place;
sort forms are paired before deduplication;
an artist that already appears is not credited twice;
positions are contiguous per role;
a typed correction (track_override.artists) is final.
artist_credit_decision, one row per library and folded credit;
track_credit, the first-step credits filled from track_participant. No rescan is needed, and the RFC says why the copy is exact.
Scan (apply_catalog_track_in_transaction): it writes track_credit, then computes the participants with the library's decisions. The decisions are read inside the batch's transaction. The album's display string and the track hint still read the first step, so no album or track id moves.
Decisions (src/services/credit_decisions.rs): one route, for owners and managers.
A split recomputes the affected tracks with no file read, through the same function the scan calls.
An undo does the same from track_credit, which keeps the file's order when two credits share a part.
Favourites and ratings on the joined artist move onto every part through the journal (favorite/rating). The library feed records the track, album and artist events. The end-of-scan derivations then run again.
Needs attention
src/services/attention.rs: the credits to split, plus the desktop's track categories that the server can compute.
They read effective values: a correction takes a track out of its category at once.
Probable duplicates reuse normalize_name and chain_by_duration from waveflow-core.
untaggable, probable_fake_lossless and missing_title are left out, for the RFC's reasons.
Routes (src/api/attention.rs), all 404 to anyone who is not an owner or manager:
GET /libraries/{id}/attention, …/attention/credits, …/attention/tracks?category=;
GET/POST /libraries/{id}/credit-decisions;
DELETE …/credit-decisions/{decision_id}.
Web client
"Needs attention" page (/attention?category=), in the Library section of the rail, for owners and managers only.
The lists show with their counts, and an empty list stays drawn, greyed.
A credit's fragments link to an artist the library already has.
Split takes two clicks, as on the desktop; Keep as one takes one. A "Decided" view offers Undo.
A track list opens its tracks in the song table, whose menu holds the editor. The open list is pinned in the address so it does not jump when it empties.
Artist page: "Split into N artists" for an owner or manager on a joined artist.
English and French text.
Documentation
CLAUDE.md:
the identity section names what a decision re-identifies;
the count of test targets (nineteen, with credits).
RFC-015:
the compilation criterion states what the server can tell apart;
duplicate_group is named.
Tests
tests/credits.rs (new target, 15 tests). It covers:
the split and the reuse of an existing artist;
an album id unchanged, checked right after the decision and after a rescan;
a scan that applies a decision;
an undo that equals a scan without the decision;
two credits sharing a part, undone in both orders, with data out of alphabetical order;
a correction that survives (after the decision and after a rescan);
sort forms;
a retagged spelling;
favourites and ratings, and the journal;
the library feed;
the migration's copy against a scan, with a repeated credit and a shared part;
candidates and their sorting;
HTTP access (listener 404, 201/409/422/204);
each track category, plus a correction that takes a track out of its category.
Unit tests in src/credit_split.rs, vitest for lib/credit-fragments.ts, and Playwright: the page, the listener, the artist page, plus the "More" sheet updated (13 entries).
Every protection verified by inversion, on a build that compiles. 20 of them (15 on the server, 5 in the web client), each one failing on its own assertion:
the album display string fed by the first step;
a scan that reads the decisions;
the decision's pass sparing a correction;
sort forms paired before deduplication;
the file's order rather than the names';
favourites and ratings carried over;
a listener refused;
a second decision answered with 409;
the migration copying the sort forms;
a category reading the corrected year;
a decided credit leaving the list;
the album repointed by the decision's pass;
the undo that recomputes;
the artist delete event;
deduplication by identity;
Split in two clicks;
no request for a listener;
the artist-page offer for owners and managers only;
the list pinned in the address;
the rail entry hidden from a listener.
Backups were named by full path, anchors had to be unique, and the file status was compared after each restore.
Gates: cargo fmt --check, clippy -D warnings, cargo test --all-features (every target), vitest, tsc --noEmit, biome (only the warnings already in refresh.css), bun run build, then Playwright on that fresh build.
Not covered
Validated only against a temporary database and mocks: not on the dev server, which another session is running.
A file whose ALBUMARTIST tag literally reads Various Artists on a compilation is listed under "Compilations without an album artist", like the fallback: the server cannot tell them apart (stated in the RFC).

Implements RFC-015: a per-library decision splits a credit such as
"Ashreveal, Ashish Swargiary" into the artists it names, or keeps it
whole. Every scan applies it again from the stored first-step credits,
no album or track id moves, and favourites follow the parts through the
journal. The "Needs attention" page lists the credits to decide and the
desktop's track categories the server can compute.

Merge Risk: Minimal · up to cae97
The credit-decision and attention workflows preserve their documented behavior and are ready to merge with normal checks.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to cae97
Owners and managers gain a persistent, library-wide action that also moves affected users’ favorites and ratings. Access checks and all-or-nothing updates limit the impact; no permission bypass was established in the reviewed paths.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
observed — An authorized decision can affect multiple tracks and every account with a favorite or rating on the removed joined artist. Source user identities come from existing personal-data rows; fragment identities are derived within the validated library. Existing fragment favorite dates and ratings are preserved.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — HTTP mutations require authenticated write access. The service then checks membership and owner/manager metadata authority for the requested library before mutation. Attacker-supplied artist and decision identifiers are looked up with that library identifier, preventing those identifiers alone from selecting another library’s records.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Personal-data changes and their synchronization operations use the same transaction as the decision and catalogue changes. Derivation failures occur before commit, and notification publication occurs afterward. Durable synchronization events support recovery when post-commit notifications are missed.

…ction
Review on #316. A scan batch reads the library's decisions once, inside
its transaction, and every caller of the per-track apply passes them in.
A decision and its undo now run the end-of-scan derivations in the same
transaction that records them, so the two land or fail together. Probable
duplicates are computed off the async workers, the web client reloads
the credits after a refused decision, draws duplicates group by group,
and leaves a split artist's page before invalidating. A test no longer
prints a result that carries identifiers.
