Inline comments:
In `@agent/internal/executor/restore.go`:
- Line 83: Normalize an empty PageBrokerTransferEngine to the posix-copy default
before Restore converts the configuration and calls Client.StagedRestore.
Preserve explicitly provided engine values, and ensure direct brokered callers
that omit the field no longer pass an empty engine to protocolIOEngine.
In `@agent/pagebroker/transfer/model_streamer_api.hpp`:
- Around line 6-15: Pin and validate the Model Streamer wheel used by the Docker
build before copying or linking libstreamer.so. Ensure the selected wheel
matches commit bc21fd4182cc06ce9475452d16697d50ce3588c4 and validates
ResponseCode::TimedOut as 16; reject unapproved metadata or fail startup before
enabling Model Streamer, rather than relying only on symbol-name linking.
In `@agent/pagebroker/transfer/model_streamer_restore.cpp`:
- Around line 103-108: Document in restore_plan.hpp that
BuildFilesystemRestorePlan produces safe relative paths without traversal
components and orders directories parent-first. In RestorePlan::Stage, validate
absolute paths and reject any .. components before composing destination paths,
including plans created by other backends.
- Line 377: Update RestoreFiles around completion.get() to bound the wait while
mapped destinations remain alive: if the active Model Streamer submission
produces no terminal response, stop Model Streamer and fail the active entries
before the mappings unwind. Preserve the existing completion handling for
submissions that do return a terminal response, and coordinate the timeout with
ReceiveAndDispatch’s kTimedOut rescheduling path.
- Line 1: Add the repository-standard SPDX headers to every changed PageBroker
transfer, utility, and test source/header file, including the files containing
model streamer restore/transfer declarations and implementations and the
EventLoop implementation, declaration, and test. Run the existing
add-license-headers target and verify the working tree remains clean afterward.
In `@charts/snapshot/templates/configmap.yaml`:
- Around line 12-14: Normalize .Values.pageBroker.transferEngine by trimming
whitespace and defaulting empty values to posix-copy before the validation
condition and subsequent rendering use it. Update the transferEngine checks in
the configmap template to use this normalized value, while preserving acceptance
of posix-copy and model-streamer.

In `@agent/pagebroker/transfer/model_streamer_restore.cpp`:
- Line 445: Make ModelStreamerRestore recoverable after EventLoop failure:
update Stage and the start lifecycle around start_once_ to detect a failed loop,
recreate the streamer/event loop, and allow subsequent restores to proceed
instead of permanently relying on std::call_once. Scope non-fatal submission
errors to the affected submission where possible, and return a distinct terminal
error that preserves the original failure cause rather than the generic
cancellation message.

| ### Native S3 read tests |

This should be part of either the make test or the e2e, not as a dedicated test with a different set of instructions.

These tests now run through PageBroker’s make test and image CI. The separate test instructions were removed.

Let's keep ut now without integration tests for pagebroker.
We'll add e2e with Oleg before the release.

So what will happen if we have 2 inflight restores and one of them is cancelled?
There was a problem hiding this comment.
If both have active submissions, cancelling one stops the shared session and fails both: the SDK cannot cancel a single submission.

OK. Can we open issue for that for future work?

Why do we have the previous? also, should we retry in case it Failed again? (maybe 3 times or smtn like that)
There was a problem hiding this comment.
previous lets us release the lock before cleaning up the old coordinator. Retries would need to happen around the restore operation; creating a replacement here doesn’t start a restore.

why we need this and not using the ApplyPermission with std::fd?
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Reused the existing path-based ApplyPermissions helper for files too and removed ApplyFilePermissions. File permissions are still applied during preparation, after mapping nonempty files.

or is there an std::fd? I don't know if this exists

Couldn't we just make this a simple open with the correct permission?

Adds a Model Streamer engine that restores files from prepared S3 plans into local staging directories.
Filesystem transfers continue to use POSIX. Remove the obsolete
pageBroker.transferEnginesetting; the agent and Helm now reject it.This PR adds the restore component. S3 uploads follow in #410; artifact handling and production broker integration follow in #416.
Stack: #264 → #258 → #410 → #416 → #469.
Refs #267 and #237.
Validation: CPU tests, repeated concurrency tests, native buffer-lifetime tests, and local HTTP/HTTPS S3 tests passed, including untrusted-certificate rejection. GPU and cloud-cluster tests were not run.
