Gem Ores

The mod currently adds six unique gem ores, distributed across the Overworld, Nether, and End dimensions. Each ore has four variants: Stone, Deepslate, Netherrack, and Endstone. While not all variants generate naturally, they are available for use, making it easier for datapacks or other mods to enable world generation compatibility.

Naturally Generating Ores

The following gem ores generate naturally in specific dimensions and biomes. ⚠️ As of the latest update, some ores no longer generate underground and instead appear in biome-specific rock formations.

  • Atherium – Generates only in the End.

    • Y-levels: -32 → 16 (most common near -8).
    • Vein size: up to 5.
    • Frequency: ~1 vein per chunk.
    • Notes: The rarest gem in the mod, used for the strongest tools and armor.
  • Malachite – Generates only in Venomous Fen biomes.

    • Spawns in: Rock Formations, no longer as normal underground ore.
    • Notes: A strong late-game Overworld gem, second only to Atherium.
  • Ruby – Generates in the Nether.

    • Y-levels: 20 → 80 (most common near 50).
    • Vein size: up to 8.
    • Frequency: ~3 veins per chunk.
    • Notes: A durable Nether gem material with solid tool and armor stats.
  • Sunstone – Generates only in Shattergrove biomes.

    • Spawns in: Rock Formations, no longer as normal underground ore.
    • Notes: Paired with Sapphire in rarity; Sunstone gear often ties into heat and fire themes.
  • Sapphire – Generates only in Crystalfrost Vale biomes.

    • Spawns in: Rock Formations, specifically embedded in exposed ice blocks.
    • Notes: Counterpart to Sunstone, tied to cold and frost biomes.
  • Jaspilite – Generates in the Overworld.

    • Y-levels: -16 → 32 (most common around 8).
    • Vein size: up to 10.
    • Frequency: ~4 veins per chunk.
    • Notes: A mid-tier gem, stronger than Diamond but weaker than Sunstone/Sapphire.

Dirty Gems

When any gem ore is mined, it drops a Dirty Gem (e.g., Dirty Atherium). These cannot be used in crafting recipes until they are cleaned.

Players must clean them into Polished Gems before use. All tool, weapon, and armor recipes in the mod require Polished Gems.

Gem Polishing Table

The Gem Polishing Table is a functional block used to convert Dirty Gems into their usable, polished form.

Functionality

  • Inputs:

    • Accepts any Dirty Gem in its input slot.
    • Requires Water (added via buckets or piping from other mods).
  • Water Use:

    • Consumes 1 bucket (1000 mB) of water per polished gem.
    • The tank holds multiple buckets.
  • Output:

    • Produces the matching Polished Gem, stored in the output slot.
    • The process takes a few seconds to complete.
  • Automation:

    • Supports hopper/item piping input/output.
    • Accepts fluid input from compatible fluid transport systems.
    • Returns empty buckets to the output slot when water is used.

⚠️ Note for older worlds: In chunks generated before the update, Sunstone, Sapphire, and Malachite may still appear underground. New chunks will follow the updated biome/rock formation generation rules.
