Summary

Wires the new hoppy-turtle brand assets (already supplied under public/ and public/brand/) into the site, app icons, and outbound trade email — replacing the old icon set and giving trade customer emails an intentionally branded shell.

  • Favicon/app icons: favicon.ico, favicon-16/32.png, apple-touch-icon.png, and android-chrome-192/512.png regenerated from the Option C circular badge (avatar-light-512.png); new favicon.svg adapts to light/dark browser chrome via prefers-color-scheme, plus favicon-16/32-dark.png and favicon-48x48.png variants with explicit media hints in metadata.icons.
  • Manifest: site.webmanifest pretty-printed; both chrome icons now declare purpose: "any". Maskable left as a documented follow-up — the supplied badge is not safe-zone guaranteed.
  • BrandMark component (components/brand-mark.tsx): monochrome black-on-light / white-on-dark variants from public/brand/, decorative mode, responsive sizing. Wired into both site headers and the footer (layout unchanged, not taller).
  • Trade email: buildTradeLeadOutboundHtml wraps the staff-written body in a lightweight branded table shell — hoppy turtle mark at top, white card, compact footer with site link. Mark URL resolves to an absolute siteUrl URL so mail clients can fetch it. Plain-text part is sent unchanged; subject, Reply-To, Message-ID, In-Reply-To/References, and Resend idempotency behavior are untouched.
  • Admin trade timeline: subject now displayed, quoted reply text (from splitQuotedEmailText) rendered quieter/collapsed, outbound DDB mail gets a subtle brand avatar, action buttons separated from message body. Inbound and system entries keep their existing treatment.
  • Docs: THEME_AND_BRANDING.md gains a brand-marks section (hoppy turtle primary, wordmark secondary, circular micro-badge for favicons, monochrome rule, email file usage, BIMI deferred); TECHNICAL.md notes the branded outbound shell.

Changes

  • Regenerated: favicon.ico, favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, apple-touch-icon.png, android-chrome-192x192.png, android-chrome-512x512.png
  • Added: favicon.svg, favicon-16x16-dark.png, favicon-32x32-dark.png, favicon-48x48.png, public/brand/* (supplied assets)
  • app/layout.tsx, public/site.webmanifest
  • components/brand-mark.tsx (new), components/site-header.tsx, components/site-header-default.tsx, components/site-footer.tsx
  • lib/trade-leads-email-common.ts (buildTradeLeadOutboundHtml, splitQuotedEmailText, TRADE_EMAIL_MARK_PATH), lib/trade-leads-email.ts
  • components/admin-trade-workspace.tsx (timeline polish)
  • tests/brand-assets.test.ts (new), tests/lib/trade-leads-email.test.ts
  • THEME_AND_BRANDING.md, docs/TECHNICAL.md

Verification

  • npm run check:react-versions — react/react-dom 19.3.0 match
  • npx tsc --noEmit — clean
  • npm run lint — exit 0 (one pre-existing TSSatisfiesExpression parser notice)
  • npm test — 499/499 pass
  • npm run test:rules — pass (Firestore/Storage emulator)
  • npm run build — clean
  • npx playwright test — 135/135 pass
  • npm run check:md-links — pass
  • Vercel preview reviewed (for UI changes)

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The changes add a reusable brand mark to site UI, update browser and app icon declarations, and brand outbound trade-email HTML. The trade activity timeline now separates fresh inbound email text from quoted history and places eligible communication actions below previews.

Branded outbound email
lib/trade-leads-email-common.ts, lib/trade-leads-email.ts, tests/lib/trade-leads-email.test.ts, docs/TECHNICAL.md
A shared helper builds branded HTML email content, and outbound sends use that HTML while retaining the plain-text body. Tests and technical documentation cover the branded content.
Activity timeline email content and actions
lib/trade-leads-email-common.ts, components/admin-trade-workspace.tsx, tests/lib/trade-leads-email.test.ts
Inbound previews separate fresh text from collapsed quoted history. Outbound previews retain the full body. Eligible Resend and Reply actions appear below the preview.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 0f185

Staff may miss an instruction in an inbound reply, and some earlier email sends may fail when retried. Resolve those issues before merging; the favicon inventory and test assertion also need correction.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 0f185

Mail-sending access controls remain intact. However, retrying an uncertain email after deployment can change its payload while retaining its original idempotency key, potentially disrupting safe recovery.

Retained concerns

  • Low · reliability · inferred: Queued or failed communications regenerate HTML using the current template while retaining their original idempotency key. Deployment or rollback can therefore violate the identical-payload replay contract. A rejected replay may also mark an originally uncertain send failed, weakening recovery containment because failed records bypass the queued-record age guard.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The identified compatibility concern is bounded to existing outbound trade communications retried across template changes. The inspected send path remains active-admin gated and lead scoped, without a caller-supplied arbitrary recipient.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Stored direction controls timeline presentation, but server-side producers assign inbound and outbound direction. Reply opens the composer; Reply and Resend ultimately rely on server authorization and lead-scoped record validation, not quote markers or UI visibility.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — The branded template makes deployment version part of replay identity without recording that identity durably. This weakens the existing uncertain-send recovery guarantee; provider rejection and any subsequent duplicate delivery remain unverified outcomes, not observed incidents.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Preserve a reproducible full send payload or compatible rendering version for each communication. Verify provider mismatch semantics and retain uncertain-delivery status when replay incompatibility does not establish that the original send was rejected.

Assert the required icon purpose.

The branding guide requires purpose: "any" because these badge assets are not maskable-safe. The current truthiness assertion accepts "maskable", and no other test checks manifest icon purposes. Changing either icon to "maskable" would pass.

Suggested fix
-      assert.ok(icon.purpose, `manifest icon ${icon.src} lacks a purpose`);
+      assert.strictEqual(icon.purpose, "any");

- Line 384: Update the reply parsing logic around `lines.slice(cut)` so unquoted
lines appearing after quoted lines remain visible in `fresh`; alternatively,
keep the full message expanded whenever quoted and new text are interleaved. Do

- Line 420: Update `PreparedSend` and `TradeLeadCommunicationRecord` to carry
rendered HTML, persist it when creating new communications, and return it from
`prepareRetrySend` for both retry paths. Reuse stored HTML when available; for
existing records without it, fall back to `plainTextToHtml` of the stored text
