Apply profile length limits only to the write model
For tenants whose saved profile exceeds a newly introduced limit (for example, a website longer than 500 characters), these constraints make existing settings unreadable. The previous endpoint accepted and persisted those values, but _db_get_settings() now deserializes them through SettingsResponse.profile: CompanyProfile and raises an uncaught validation error. GET and both PUT endpoints consequently return 500; even submitting a corrected profile cannot recover because PUT loads the old settings before replacing the profile. Separate the bounded write model from the legacy-compatible read model, as this change already does for retention, or migrate existing profiles before enforcing these constraints on reads.

Split the read model from the bounded write model for CompanyProfile.
CompanyProfile now has extra="forbid" and max_length caps. The same class is the profile field of SettingsResponse. _db_get_settings builds SettingsResponse(**{**stored, ...}) from stored JSONB. Pydantic v2 applies these constraints to the nested dict.
A tenant may already have a stored profile that is over a cap, such as address or website over 500 characters. It may also hold a key the model does not define. In that case:
GET /{tenant_id} raises ValidationError and returns a 500.
Both PUT handlers call _db_get_settings first, so they also return a 500.
The tenant cannot read or repair its own settings. The same lockout also blocks the retention PUT.
The retention change avoids this problem. DataRetention stays floor-free for reads and DataRetentionUpdate enforces the floors. Use the same pattern for the profile. The new test_model_forbids_extra_fields and test_model_enforces_max_length tests must then target CompanyProfileUpdate. Also add a test that a GET with an over-length legacy profile returns 200.
In update_profile, change the body type to CompanyProfileUpdate. Then assign settings.profile = CompanyProfile(**profile.model_dump()).

Separate CompanyProfile’s tolerant read model from the bounded write model: keep
stored profiles permissive of legacy values and unknown keys, and add
CompanyProfileUpdate with the existing extra-field rejection and length limits.
Use CompanyProfileUpdate for update_profile request bodies while retaining
CompanyProfile for SettingsResponse reads. Update the validation tests to target
CompanyProfileUpdate and add coverage confirming GET returns 200 for an
over-length legacy profile.

Log audit setup failures at warning level, not debug.
The except Exception branch covers failures that happen before the audit coroutine exists. These include the audit import, AuditLogger.get_instance(), and construction of AuditActor and AuditResource. These failures log at debug, which production log levels hide. The PUT still succeeds and no audit event is written, so the gap is not visible.
Failures inside audit.log(...) run later on the scheduled task. _audit_task_done already logs those at error. The except RuntimeError branch drops the event without any log. audit.log is an async def, so the coroutine must be closed on that path to avoid a "never awaited" warning. The PUT handlers are async def, so this branch runs only when the helper is called without a running loop.

Update the settings audit exception handling so setup failures in the broad
`except Exception` branch log at warning level with tenant and endpoint context;
in the `except RuntimeError` no-running-loop branch, close the created audit
coroutine and log a warning with the same context instead of silently dropping
the event.

Key the settings rate limit by tenant as well as client IP.
The limiter key is the client IP only. Requests from different tenants that share a source address share one 30/minute bucket per endpoint, so one tenant can block settings writes for others. The same key applies to the second limiter decorator at line 372.
With the default memory:// storage, each worker process keeps its own count. The effective limit is the configured limit multiplied by the worker count. Production should use a shared storage URI, such as RATE_LIMIT_STORAGE_URI or REGENGINE_REDIS_URL. Use a key function that combines the authenticated tenant identifier with the client IP.

Update both settings rate-limit decorators using limiter.limit to key buckets by
the authenticated tenant identifier and client IP, so tenants sharing an IP have
separate limits. Configure production rate limiting to use shared storage rather
than memory:// so limits are consistent across worker processes.

Trivial · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Audit changed_fields lists every field, not the fields that changed.
profile.model_dump().keys() and retention.model_dump().keys() return all model fields on every PUT. This includes fields that kept their old value and fields the client did not send, because they take defaults. The audit event therefore cannot show which setting changed. The trail is misleading for a compliance setting such as retention.
Compare the old and new values before the assignment. Record only names whose values differ. Names are safe to record; values are not. Capture the previous value before settings.profile = profile and before settings.data_retention = ....

Update the audit `changed_fields` calculation for profile and retention settings
to include only field names whose values differ from the previous settings.
Capture each previous value before assigning `settings.profile` or
`settings.data_retention`, compare it with the submitted model, and record only
differing names without logging field values.
