feat(site): remove dollar amounts from public pages, contact for pricing, retailer dates and compliance claims cleanup - #3725
Updates public site pricing to the owner-approved A-2155 terms, removes the Albertsons retailer deadline from buyer-facing copy, and replaces compliance overclaims with recordkeeping wording. Frontend copy only. No backend, billing, schema, or deploy changes.
Founding design partner price: $499 per month, per facility.
Pilot: $2,000 for 90 days on 1 facility, or $1,500 if the customer converts to a subscription within 30 days. The pilot fee paid is credited toward the first subscription invoice on conversion.
No multi-facility discounts, annual pricing, or other terms added.
Pages changed
/pricing (app/pricing/page.tsx, components/pricing/PricingPageClient.tsx): approved terms always render as three cards. Billing-sourced tier price figures, "50% off", "Annual billing saves ~15%", and the "temporarily unavailable" state are removed. Metadata now states list and founding prices. FAQ: new "What does RegEngine cost?" and "How does the pilot work?" entries. Annual-billing and "Founding rate ever change" entries are replaced. FTL FAQ now says covered person instead of "entities on the list".
/why-regengine: $425/$849 plus the $549/$1,099/$639/$1,275 stickers replaced with list, founding, and pilot. "Ready to Get Compliant?" becomes "Ready to organize your traceability records?". "FSMA 204 Compliance" headline/meta becomes Recordkeeping. Lifetime-rate promise removed. Disclaimer now says RegEngine has no FDA endorsement or certification and makes no promise of a compliance outcome.
/buyer-programs (also what /retailer-readiness redirects to): Albertsons deadline card removed. $425 billed-annually block replaced with approved terms.
/about, /supplier-compliance: $425 replaced with list and founding prices. "Check Your Readiness Score" becomes "Review buyer-program notes".
/compare/foodlogiq, /compare/repositrak, /compare/tracegains: price notes updated. "validates whether the underlying data is FSMA 204 compliant" now reads as advisory gap checks with no compliance certification. Titles say "Traceability Comparison".
Metadata overclaims: /fsma-204 ("how to get compliant"), /tools/knowledge-graph and /compliance/labels ("FSMA 204 compliant").
/tools/roi-calculator: "Founding rate" now reads "founding design partner price" (no figures).
Tests: pre-revenue-copy.test.ts pins the approved terms and bans stale prices, billed annually, and Sysco/Albertsons across all edited pages. about-copy.test.tsx now expects the new price.
scripts/copy-lint/baseline.json: removals only, for 10 entries already at 0.
Walmart and Kroger dates on /buyer-programs were left in place because the brief scoped removal to Sysco and Albertsons. The A-2155 audit says to drop them too. That needs a decision.
Backend billing not changed:services/ingestion/app/stripe_billing/plans.py still defines growth $999/mo and $832/mo annual, and scale $1,999/mo. PricingCheckoutButton defaults to billing_period: 'annual'. Checkout from /pricing can therefore charge prices that do not match A-2155. Billing change needs separate approval.
Out of scope, still present: blog "Get Your Readiness Score" CTAs, nav/footer "compliance" wording, Base/Standard/Premium plan cards (kept with no price figures).
node scripts/copy-lint/check-copy.mjs . --gate --base-baseline <main baseline>: FAIL, only on the pre-existing trust/page.tsx live-claim (see above). No new violations from this PR.
Medium Risk
Wide marketing copy changes affect legal positioning and buyer-facing pricing expectations; checkout/billing may still charge amounts not reflected on the site (not changed in this diff).
Overview
Implements A-2169 by pulling every public dollar figure off marketing surfaces and centralizing pricing language in lib/pricing-terms.ts (per-facility, contact us, written proposal / pilot terms with no numeric prices).
Pricing UX drops billing-sourced tier amounts, founding-rate strikethroughs, “50% off,” annual-billing copy, and the “pricing temporarily unavailable” gate; /pricing and PricingPageClient now always show contact copy plus founding-design-partner and 90-day pilot cards from the shared module.
Claims cleanup shifts much “compliance” positioning to recordkeeping, removes “published / transparent pricing” assertions, softens compare-page compliance certification language, trims buyer-programs (Albertsons card out; Walmart/Kroger deadline specifics replaced with “confirm with buyer”), and retargets CTAs (e.g. readiness score → buyer-program notes).
ROI calculator drops revenue-based dollar tiles and platform-cost / payback math; results are hours per year only.
Tests expand pre-revenue-copy.test.ts and about-copy.test.ts to enforce no $ amounts, stale list prices, and banned phrasing across the touched pages; copy-lint/baseline.json is trimmed for resolved violations.

…overclaims
- Add frontend/src/lib/pricing-terms.ts with the owner-approved terms:
$999/mo per facility list, $499/mo per facility founding design
partner price, $2,000 90-day pilot on 1 facility or $1,500 on
conversion within 30 days, pilot fee credited to the first invoice.
- /pricing always shows the approved terms; drop billing-sourced tier
prices, "50% off", and annual-billing copy; add pilot FAQ.
- Replace $425/$849 and tier stickers on /why-regengine, /buyer-programs
(served for /retailer-readiness), /about, /supplier-compliance and
/compare/*.
- Remove the Albertsons deadline card from /buyer-programs.
- Replace "Get Compliant", "FSMA 204 compliant" and similar overclaims
with recordkeeping wording.
- Ratchet copy-lint baseline down (removals only) for entries now at 0.

The changes replace fixed public pricing claims with shared per-facility, written-proposal, and pilot terms. The pricing page now retains static tier copy when billing plans are unavailable or lack usable features. The ROI calculator now presents illustrative annual hour estimates instead of dollar-based returns. Public pages revise RegEngine’s positioning toward FSMA 204 recordkeeping and update buyer-program information.
Public pricing now says to contact RegEngine, but the Base and Standard buttons can still start annual Stripe checkout without showing an amount. The Terms page still publishes a dollar charge, and a buyer-programs line overstates the Base plan's CTE allowance. Fix these before merging. The ROI calculator notes are minor.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 6e3c4
The pricing page now remains available when billing information cannot load. Existing payment and identity controls remain unchanged, but unavailable-plan behavior and recovery from unfinished purchases are not fully established.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The demonstrated exposure change is additional visibility of existing checkout initiation during failed or incomplete plan retrieval. The inspected change does not grant additional tenant authority or let browser-supplied prices determine charges. Whether live-plan omission represents a separate operational restriction remains unresolved.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The unchanged checkout boundary retains authenticated tenant matching and redirect protections. Anonymous checkout is explicitly a new-tenant flow, not authority to select an existing tenant through request data.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Inspection of the existing checkout transition found webhook deduplication, retry claim release, tenant binding, and payment-settlement checks. Session creation precedes recording the tenant hint, and hint-storage failure does not block redirect. These paths are unchanged by this PR; cleanup ownership for abandoned sessions was not established.

Blocking: approved prices are correct where present, but this PR adds frontend/src/lib/pricing-terms.ts as the single source and then hardcodes the same figures elsewhere. That will drift on the next A-2155 change. Wire the other surfaces through the module (or drop the single-source claim and tests).
frontend/src/app/why-regengine/page.tsx:442-453,723 — already imports LIST_PRICE / FOUNDING_PRICE / PILOT_LINE (used at :54, :143, :465) but the pricing cards and :723 still hardcode $999/mo, $499/mo, $2,000, $1,500.
frontend/src/app/about/page.tsx:67 — list and founding prices hardcoded; no import from @/lib/pricing-terms. frontend/src/__tests__/pages/about-copy.test.tsx:25,38-39 locks the literals in.
frontend/src/app/supplier-compliance/page.tsx:77 — same hardcoded list/founding prices.
frontend/src/__tests__/pages/pre-revenue-copy.test.ts:50-61 — test titled “pricing surfaces take prices only from the approved terms module” only checks pricing/page.tsx and PricingPageClient.tsx, so the duplication above still passes CI.
Non-blocking:
Price values themselves match A-2155 ($999 / $499 / $2,000 / $1,500 + credit). No invented annual tiers or stale $425/$849 figures in the changed pages. Sysco/Albertsons deadlines absent from buyer-programs. Recordkeeping wording and the why-regengine FDA non-endorsement disclaimer look right. Beta/Preview labels on pricing tiers look accurate. No placeholders found.
Copy-lint --gate vs origin/main baseline exits 1 only on pre-existing frontend/src/app/trust/page.tsx live-claim (this PR does not touch that file; #3706/#3707 own it).
Vitest pre-revenue-copy + about-copy: 29/29 pass.
Backend plans.py still has $832 annual / $1,999 — out of scope for this frontend PR; tracked on the separate billing build.
C.Lee approved removing all dollar amounts from the public site (Approvals
A-2169, Oct 28 2026), reversing the A-2155 plan to show prices.
- pricing-terms.ts keeps the module with no amounts: per-facility basis,
written-proposal terms, and 'Contact us for pricing.'
- /pricing, /why-regengine, /about, /compare/*, /supplier-compliance and
/buyer-programs: no prices, and no 'published/transparent pricing' claims.
- ROI calculator shows modeled hours per year; the hidden platform cost,
net benefit, payback, ROI and revenue-based risk tile are removed.
- /buyer-programs: Walmart and Kroger dates removed (C.Lee, Oct 28 2026).
- Tests: no-dollar-amount and no-published-pricing gates on public pricing
files, ROI hours check, buyer-programs retailer-date check; stale-price
and Sysco/Albertsons gates kept.
- copy-lint baseline ratcheted down for roi-calculator-data hyphen-dash.

Re-review of A-2169 no-prices rework (prior FAIL at 07027ac for hardcoded RegEngine prices).
Checks:
No RegEngine dollar amounts on PR-touched public pages or in pricing-terms.ts. Grep of frontend for $ + digit: pricing-terms, PricingPageClient, pricing/page, why-regengine, compare/*, buyer-programs, supplier-compliance, ROI files all clean. Remaining $ hits are FDA threshold wording in FTL checker, industry/blog cost ranges, LeadGate revenue buckets, and the Terms CTE overage line (see note).
ROI calculator is hours-only (hrs/yr, laborHours/operationalHours/totalHours). Removed platformCost / payback / netBenefit / annual-revenue dollar paths. Vitest asserts this.
/buyer-programs: Walmart and Kroger blocks have no retailer dates (no Month YYYY / Aug 1 2025 / etc.). Only FDA July 20, 2028 appears outside those retailer deadline claims. Vitest covers this.
Copy gates catch $ amounts: pre-revenue-copy.test.ts / about-copy.test.tsx use /$\s?\d/. Local probe: injected $999 into pricing-terms.ts → 2 test failures; reverted → 42/42 pass again. (scripts/copy-lint has no dollar rule; A-2169 enforcement is these vitests.)
plans.py and Stripe/billing files untouched in origin/main...HEAD diff.
Note (do not fail per brief): Terms of Service still has $0.002 per additional CTE in frontend/src/app/terms/TermsClient.tsx — pending C.Lee decision.
Non-blocking observation: node scripts/copy-lint/check-copy.mjs --gate exits 1 on frontend/src/app/trust/page.tsx live-claim vs main baseline, but that file is identical on origin/main and is not in this PR's diff — pre-existing baseline staleness on main, not introduced here.

Include the linked Terms page in the no-dollar change.
The pricing cards link to /terms, but frontend/src/app/terms/TermsClient.tsx (Lines 43–46) still displays a $0.002 overage charge and says prices are listed on the pricing page. This test omits TermsClient.tsx, so it passes while the public site retains a dollar amount and conflicting pricing instructions. Align the Terms copy with the approved pricing policy, then include that page in the public-price check. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Qualify the CTE-cap statement by plan.
The pricing section says “No CTE cap,” but Base includes only 500 CTEs/month on frontend/src/app/pricing/page.tsx (Lines 70–73). A reader can mistake the Base allowance for an unlimited plan. State which plans have no per-CTE cap, or remove the blanket claim.

Avoid counting the same work twice.
If per-record work is part of the reported manual work, this sum can exceed the entire modeled workload. For the “0–10 hours” and “Less than 1,000” selections, the representative inputs produce 298 hours saved from 260 annual manual hours. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
Cap the combined savings at the manual baseline, or collect a separate operational baseline that excludes the manual work.

Overview
Implements A-2169 by pulling every public dollar figure off marketing surfaces and centralizing pricing language in
lib/pricing-terms.ts(per-facility, contact us, written proposal / pilot terms with no numeric prices).Pricing UX drops billing-sourced tier amounts, founding-rate strikethroughs, “50% off,” annual-billing copy, and the “pricing temporarily unavailable” gate;
/pricingandPricingPageClientnow always show contact copy plus founding-design-partner and 90-day pilot cards from the shared module.Claims cleanup shifts much “compliance” positioning to recordkeeping, removes “published / transparent pricing” assertions, softens compare-page compliance certification language, trims buyer-programs (Albertsons card out; Walmart/Kroger deadline specifics replaced with “confirm with buyer”), and retargets CTAs (e.g. readiness score → buyer-program notes).
