L597: 【64†`branch-name-case`】 | String | Not set | Apply case transformation to the branch name content after the prefix. L598: 【65†`template`】 | String (max 200 characters) | Not set | Custom format template using placeholders. L599: All options are composable. When `template` is set alongside simple options, the processing order is: L600: L601: 1. Template rendering (placeholder substitution) L602: 2. Case transformation applied to content after the prefix L605: 5. Max-length truncation L606: ### 【61†`separator`】 L607: L608: Specify a character to use in place of `/` between branch name segments. L609: L610: Supported values: `"-"`, `_`, `/` L611: L612: For example, with `separator: "-"`: `dependabot/npm_and_yarn/lodash-4.17.21` becomes `dependabot-npm_and_yarn-lodash-4.17.21`. L622: L623: For example, with `prefix: "deps"`: `dependabot/npm_and_yarn/lodash-4.17.21` becomes `deps/npm_and_yarn/lodash-4.17.21`. L624: ### 【62†`max-length`】 L625: L626: Set the maximum allowed length for generated branch names. L627: L628: * Minimum value: `20`. L629: * Maximum value: `244`. L630: * Default value: `100`. L631: * When a branch name exceeds this limit, it is truncated and a hash suffix is appended to preserve uniqueness. L632: L633: For example, with `max-length: 40`, a branch name like `dependabot/npm_and_yarn/some-long-dependency-name-1.0.0` is truncated to 40 characters with a hash suffix. L637: L638: For example, with `word-separator: "-"`: L639: L640: * `npm_and_yarn` → `npm-and-yarn` L641: * `front_end_dir` → `front-end-dir` L642: ### 【64†`branch-name-case`】 L643: L644: Apply a case transformation to the branch name content after the prefix. L645: L646: Supported values: `"lowercase"`, `"uppercase"` L647: L648: For example, with `branch-name-case: "lowercase"`: `dependabot/npm_and_yarn/Lodash-4.17.21` becomes `dependabot/npm_and_yarn/lodash-4.17.21`. For examples, see 【35†Customizing Dependabot pull requests to fit your processes】. L652: L653: Available placeholders depend on the update strategy: L654: Placeholder | Solo updates | Grouped updates | Multi-ecosystem groups | Description L655: --- | --- | --- | --- | --- L656: `{prefix}` | | | | The configured prefix (defa…[truncated]</excerpt> </source> <source kind="open_page"> <title>Customize Dependabot pull request branch names - GitHub Changelog</title> <location>https://github.blog/changelog/2026-08-04-customize-dependabot-pull-request-branch-names/</location> <excerpt>citeturn1view3 [wordlim: 200] Crawled: today; Content type: text/html; Source: open({"ref_id":"turn0search2","lineno":null}); Total lines: 140 L0: 【0†Skip to content】 【1†Skip to sidebar】 L1: L2: / 【2†Blog】 L3: L4: [Input: Search the blog…] L5: L6: Search L7: L8: * 【3†Changelog】 L9: * 【4†Docs†docs.github.com】 L10: * 【5†Customer stories†github.com】 L11: 【6†Attend GitHub Universe†githubuniverse.com】 【7†Try GitHub Copilot app†github.com】 L12: L13: 【3†Back to changelog】 L14: L15: Improvement L16: L17: August 4, 2026 • 1 minute read L18: # Customize Dependabot pull request branch names L19: L20: 【8†Image】 L21: L22: You can now customize the branch names Dependabot creates for pull requests. New `pull-request-branch-name` options in `.github/dependabot.yml` let you set a prefix and maximum length, choose segment and word separators, set letter case, or define a custom template using placeholders. L23: L24: For example, a branch like `dependabot/npm_and_yarn/Lodash-4.17.21` can become `dependabot-npm-and-yarn-lodash-4.17.21` with a few lines of configuration. L25: These controls help you keep Dependabot branch names compatible with CI/CD systems that enforce naming or length limits. They also make branches easier to identify in monorepos and repositories with established naming conventions. Require Dependabot identity before skipping the deployment.
VERCEL_GIT_COMMIT_REF contains only the GitHub branch name. A regular pull request can use a branch beginning with dependabot/, so the current command can skip its Vercel preview. Check the trusted commit-author login as well as the prefix.

Changes frontend/vercel.json ignoreCommand so only dependabot/* refs are skipped; all other branches (including PR previews) build. #3398 skipped all non-production builds, which canceled every PR preview (e.g. #3471). Written by Codex; committed by DevOps.
Note
Low Risk
Deploy-only change to Vercel ignore rules; restores preview builds with no application code impact.
Overview
Re-enables Vercel builds for non-production branches by replacing the
ignoreCommandinfrontend/vercel.json. The previous logic skipped every deployment unlessVERCEL_ENVwasproduction, which stopped PR preview builds; the newcaseonly skipsdependabot/*refs (exit 0) and builds all other branches (exit 1).Reviewed by Cursor Bugbot for commit 876e851.
