Train 38: hedged hops compose (with a hub fold), Python queue hand-offs join both hedged walks, and --path lists every reaching definition pair.

What changes for answers

  • Composed hedged hops + hub fold (composed-hops): --impact's reaches_hedged= now adds the proven callers of a hedged caller, a third struct-field hop (<ring d="3">) and a container hop (a call through a table element); each <rh> prints its forward width (slot_fns=/cands=). A ring member with more than 16 proven callers prints ONE <hub n= via= d= behind= tested= sample= next=> row; the root says reaches_hedged_hubs=K; under --limit hedged rows are cut first (ring_cut=N + next=). --path's hedged <bridge> crosses a container call. On the 235 slot-bound tmux/htop functions reaches= is unchanged on all 235 and reaches_hedged= grows on all 235 (e.g. cmd_attach_session_exec 1 → 10). All of it stays hedged: never in reaches=/reachable=/hops=/by_depth=.
  • Python queue hops (queue-hop): self.q.put(item) hands off to self.q.get() readers in the same class or a base/subclass the index proves, and to their proven callers one level up (<rh via="queue" d="1" cands=K>); the --path bridge crosses it. textual --path=post_message,_dispatch_message used to end with no bridge; it now goes through _process_messages_loop (via="queue" cands="3"). Hedged, never proven.
  • Every reaching definition pair (trace-ep): --path=A,B where a name has several definitions prints pairs_reaching=N, up to three <pair hops= hedged=> chains (all-proven first, then fewest hedged, then fewest hops — the endpoint rank of feat(resolvers): order every multi-definition name answer with one tower; disclose splits in --lsp (RIPWIRE-RUBY C) #432, thanks @mpapis, now shared with --connect), alt=N + <alt> rows + next= past three. fzf --path=Loop,extendedMatch now shows Matcher.Loop's 5-hop chain beside Terminal.Loop's. One reaching pair, no pair and a glob endpoint keep their bytes.

Disclosed floors: queue hops read Python only (Go channels, Rust split handles, JS/TS emitters not covered); a call with a keyword other than timeout=/block= is no queue op; an aliased or star-imported base draws no hop; a queue handed out of the class has readers not seen (cands= is a floor). A --path to= name with more than 16 definition groups keeps its one chain and says so (pairs_unlisted=G + next=).

Measured

  • S1 (163 questions): 11 answers change; Rule C 122 → 123 (new) / 119 → 120 (old), legacy 134 → 135, lower nowhere. Gains: fzf-14 ✓, kysely-14 ◐, ninja-14 ◐ (trace-ep).
  • --impact census: reaches= 0 of 235 changed.
  • Versions: parser 235 (rich 236), cache 44, qsnap 24. qd gating 0; ASan clean; full-suite-only gates pass.

Commits: lane merges 56c0fc6 (composed-hops), a059057 (queue-hop), ff1c9ed (trace-ep); train cfdacb8, bbbb5c5 (showcase capture + COMMANDS.md); pre-review fix aaadc62 (dead-code reuse in the declined-cross rule, zero answer bytes); sync with main (train 37b) 6392316.

The trace-ep fragment thanks @mpapis for #432's endpoint tie-break; the other lanes are maintainer work.

… reach + a third field hop, narrow declined/container crossings compose in the bridge

The backward hop provider (src/backhops.h) names its hop kinds as data (kHopKinds: name,
field call, followed by the --impact ring), gains the container kind (a call through a
container element or a called parameter, the --callers called_by= join) and a forward
twin (forwardHops: slotSiteRows + container calls, each confirmed by the target's own
backward hop). The --impact ring counts the proven callers of ring members reached past
narrow hops and takes a third field hop on a field-only chain; ring rows print their
forward width. The --path bridge reads slot and container crossings from the provider
and lets a narrow (<= 4 candidates) declined or container crossing compose past the
general two-crossing bound like a slot crossing.

…ring arms follow the third field hop

New gate: the ring's proven tail and its width bound, one step short / past the field
depth, the mixed-chain twin that stays at d=2, the container kind in the ring and the
bridge (16 crossed / 17 not), a narrow declined crossing composing as a third crossing
while a 5-candidate one stays a gap, a namesake table that must not bridge, JSON/MCP
twins and legends. hop1check I1/I4/I5/M2: the c3 chain is field-only and narrow, so the
ring takes its third slot hop (reaches_hedged 2 -> 3, rows print slot_fns=) by design.

containerBackHops joined every value-ref Through, including a bare call's
argument (scope a): run( cb ) { cb(); } then named every caller of run as a
hop to every function any caller passes, inventing a hedged bridge (tmux
main -> cmd_split_window_exec via proc_loop) and an inflated reaches_hedged.
An argument binds per call site; the value crossing already names the
passer. Skip scope-a refs; legend, comments and changelog now say
"container element (or a parameter's default)". Arm P1 (composedhopscheck)
is red at fe4a52d (false bridge top1 -> h0, reaches_hedged=9) and green.

The lane adds one cap declaration (188 -> 189); capsweep.py emit --check was
red at fe4a52d. Regenerated with capsweep.py emit.

Mutant: crossNarrow ignoring fan survived composedhopscheck 29/29, because
B2's wide crossing is the first one and the composable bit refuses that.
Arm B3: slot + slot + a container of 4 composes (crossings=3), of 5 stays a
gap. Red under the mutant, green at head.

A Python put onto a queue field of its own object (self.X.put/put_nowait, one
positional argument) pairs with a get of the same attribute (self.X.get/get_nowait,
none) in the same class or a base/subclass of it; the readers are the get's function
and its proven same-family callers, one level up. backwardHops gains the queue kind
(kHopKinds row "queue", ring, listed at d=1), ForwardHops a queue branch confirmed
both ways, BridgeVia::Queue sits before the slot pair. Every queue hop is hedged:
reaches=/reachable=/hops= never move. Present-only legend clause; compact crossings
and calls terms name queue.

textual: --path=post_message,_dispatch_message now bridges post_message ->
_process_messages_loop (via=queue cands=3) -> _dispatch_message; --path=post_message,on_*
reaches on_event. Gate test/queuehopcheck.sh (21 arms), gate count 715 -> 716.

…der lookups

ImpactRingWalk keeps the d=1 queue rows itself and depthTwo lists them first (depthOne's
contract unchanged); QueueHops answers putsIn/readersOf by binary search over a sorted
(function, put) table and the (site, reader) pairs instead of a scan per node; build()
split (pairSites); the depth/has-queue helpers use ranges max/contains.

Counts never move. Arms H1, O1, W1 in composedhopscheck; compact + full legend clauses; changelog fragment.

A many-definition --path endpoint printed the first chain one multi-source BFS met. Now one reverse
walk per to= definition group ranks every reaching pair (fewest hedged hops, then hops, then tower
order: the shared reachRankBefore that --connect's #432 terminal pick also uses), prints up to 3
chains, discloses the rest as alt= rows + next=, keeps today's chain printed, and leaves the
one-pair, no-pair and glob answers byte-identical. MCP path_between shares the emitter.

sample), H5 (17 wide d=2 callers behind a member still fold).

…ir; legend says Python only

The queue hop's class family was keyed by the base NAME across the tree, so an unrelated same-named
Base in another file paired two classes' queues (a false hedged hop). It now reads the graph's Proven
implementors edges (the same-file declaration or an import that names the base): a base the evidence
leaves by name, or binds to another same-named class, is no family link.

A Python call with the keywords timeout= / block= is the same queue operation (get( timeout=2 ),
put( v, block=False )): ingest records a Python call's keyword arguments on its call reference's
composeRel (kParserVer 228), and QueueHops subtracts them from the positional count. Any other
keyword stays no hop; the changelog names that floor, and the Go, Rust and emitter cards.

queuehopcheck gains N5 (same-named Base, a real subclass through an import, an own-file Base), T2
(16 producers and a re-putting reader: reaches_hedged=32, red under the dropped self-exclusion) and
K1-K3 (keywords). The legend says called_by= is an attribute of the same row, Python only.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…lArity keeps its signature (quality-delta gating 0)

Threading the keyword tally through callArity raised its complexity from 22 to 39 and its parameter
count from 3 to 4 (quality-delta gating). callArgumentList now holds the call/argument-list walk
both functions share, callArity is back to three parameters, and callKeywords reads the keywords of
a Python put/put_nowait/get/get_nowait call only (isQueueCallName), so no other Python call pays
the second walk. Same extraction as before.

…group cap, legend wording, DASSERT today's chain

rv-trace-ep F1: two definitions of one name on one line (JS `compile: function compile`) fold into one definition group, so an answer that
reaches one site no longer prints two byte-identical pairs (nunjucks --path=render,compile pairs_reaching 15 -> 11). N1: the changelog says 7
of the 15 stored --path argvs change. N2/N3: to_p= on a hedged pair is a candidate, not a proven binding; hops=/hedged= count the whole chain
beside joins=. N4: more than 16 to= groups keep the one chain and say so (pairs_unlisted=G + next=, legend clause). N5: DASSERT that
shortestPathAny's chain is among the pairs. pathpaircheck arms T (fold) and U (cap) are red on e408cfd.

HUB x QH (10 hunks, real merge; tmp review patch used as reference only,

- backhops.h: depthOne keeps QH's atOne d=1 queue rows (now carrying

Walkthrough

The PR adds composed impact-ring and path-bridge hops for containers and Python queue hand-offs. It adds hub folding and paging to impact output, and reports multiple reaching-definition pairs for path queries in CLI and MCP output. It also adds regression gates and updates parser versions, counts, and documentation.

Changes: Impact and path navigation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Queue metadata and hop providers
src/model.h, src/ingest_*, src/backhops.h, test/queuehopcheck.sh, test/qschemetripcheck.sh, changelog.d/queue-hop.md, .github/pargates-shard-weights.json, changelog.d/versions.md, src/quality.h
Ingestion records Python queue-call keyword metadata. Backward and forward hop providers add container relationships and pair queue calls within resolved class families. The queue regression gate checks pairing rules, exclusions, and CLI, JSON, and MCP output.
Impact ring composition and hub paging
src/backhops.h, src/graph.h, src/verbs_navigate.h, src/mcpverbs.h, src/compactlegend.h, test/hop1check.sh, changelog.d/hub-fold.md, docs/LIMITS.md, docs/TUNING.md, README.md
Impact rings add composed field and container hops, queue rows, and proven callers of qualifying ring members. Output adds depth and width data, folded hubs, ordering, pagination, and replay selectors.
Container and queue path bridges
src/pathgaps.h, src/compactlegend.h, test/composedhopscheck.sh, changelog.d/composed-hops.md, test/regression.sh, .github/pargates-shard-weights.json, README.md, docs/EVALS.md, present/deck5_ripwire_build.js
Path bridge search supports container and queue crossings, with a third crossing allowed when the chain meets the composability and fan-out rules. The composed-hop integration gate checks ring and bridge behavior. Gate counts and related documentation are updated.
Reaching definition pairs in path output
src/pathpairs.h, src/main.cpp, src/mcpverbs.h, src/verbs_navigate.h, src/compactlegend.h, test/pathpaircheck.sh, changelog.d/trace-ep-path-reaching-pairs.md, docs/LIMITS.md
Path queries enumerate and rank reaching definition pairs, then emit pair rows, alternatives, joins, bridge details, and continuation metadata. CLI and MCP output use the selected displayed chain for endpoint and row data.

The title names three changes: composed hedged hops with hub fold, Python queue hops, and --path reaching pairs. The raw summary and objectives show all three are implemented in the changeset, so the title matches the main work. It is long (83 characters, 14 words) and packs three topics into one line, but it stays specific and accurate.

…oups its next= alternatives

CodeRabbit 4387143935: the trace-ep fragment pointed at "the lane report" (not published); the 7-of-15 figure stands alone.
CodeRabbit 4387143991: in queuehopcheck W1, `A and B and C or D` let any next= ending in "drain" pass without total=17 / shown=16
(a wrong total printed PASS in a Python replay); the two next= alternatives are now one parenthesised term under the total/shown checks.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
CodeRabbit 4387143955: a ring whose rows are all queue hand-offs prints d="1" on the root, but the legends defined d= only as 2|3 on the root
and d=1 only on a row. The queue clause now says the root d= is the deepest row and 1 means only queue hand-offs; the compact `calls` reading
says d=1|2|3. queuehopcheck L1 pins the clause (red on 6392316).

and later were skipped with nothing on the answer, and the legend said "a hedged bridge per to= definition". An active pairs answer now
carries bridges_unsearched=K for the K groups past the cap; the pairs clause says "the first 4" and a present-only clause defines K (full
legend and compact dictionary). pathpaircheck N (5 unreached groups -> K=1; 4 -> absent) and the L legend arm are red on 6392316.
Answers with no skipped search are byte-identical.

…eue hand-offs is d=1); bridges_unsearched without a ternary; dictv=0ecfc7f421ee85e3

The first compact wording added 46 bytes to every ring answer in every language; the queue-only root d=1 now rides on the via=queue reading (+26 bytes).

CodeRabbit's review of 6392316 raised four inline comments and no nitpicks or outside-diff items. All four were checked against the code and all four were valid. The review body only repeats the four as a fix prompt.

Commits after 6392316:

  • 6a19019: the trace-ep changelog fragment no longer points at an unpublished report (comment 4387143935); the queuehopcheck W1 row-cap arm groups its two next= alternatives so total=17 and shown=16 are required for either (comment 4387143991).
  • f9b9b6a: the queue legend defines the root <ring d=1> as a ring of only queue hand-offs (comment 4387143955).
  • 43964e3: --path with several reaching pairs counts the to= definitions past the four bridge searches (bridges_unsearched=K) and the legend says only the first four are searched (comment 4387143972).
  • 296d8ab: legend dictionary version after the added entry (dictv, entries=943).
  • 93df172: the trace-ep changelog fragment names the bridge-search cap and the new attribute.
  • a4bf085: the compact ring reading is shorter (about 32 bytes on a ring answer instead of 46), the bridge count is computed without a branch, and dictv is updated again.

The new arms are red on 6392316: pathpaircheck N and the legend arm, queuehopcheck L1. The touched gates, the legend and doc gates and the full-suite-only list pass on a dev build, and the touched gates are clean under ASan. Rows of 34 of 36 sampled answers are byte-identical to 6392316; the other two (queue-hop --impact) differ only in the legend comment.

The threads are answered individually. Any re-review of these commits goes to the follow-up PR.

… train 39

Conflicts resolved keeping both sides' behaviours:
- src/pathpairs.h: train 39's qword= / test-twin legends and twin helpers kept;
pathPairsLegend takes main's std::string form with the bridges_unsearched
clause. Root attribute order is written once: pathPairsRootAttrs
  (pairs_reaching= bridges_unsearched= alt= alt_capped= next=), then
pathTestTwinRootAttrs renames that next= to alt_next=/unlisted_next= and
  appends from_test=/to_test= next=.
- test/pathpaircheck.sh: union of arms (main's N + bridge-cap L, train 39's
Q*/Z* incl. ZX); the xmllint list carries both sides' files.
- changelog.d/versions.md: train 39's 239/240; dictv re-derived by the regen.
- docs/COMMANDS.md: ours for now; regenerated in the next commit.
