Train 39: receiver typing for stated fields (TS, Python, Rust &dyn), --path pairs ordered by the question's words with test-copy disclosure, --grep carrier definitions, and two CI flake fixes.
What changes for answers
Receiver typing (receiver-fixes): TS this.f.m() / this.#f.m() on a field the class states as an in-tree class or interface no longer binds the caller's own m by name nor vanishes (kysely DefaultQueryExecutor). Python self.f: T / T | None / Optional[T] annotations type the field, a constructed value beats the annotation as for a local, and mod.X( … ) constructors type fields and locals. A Rust &dyn Trait call with an open implementor list declines (<dc gate="iface">, also with one candidate) instead of binding a same-file impl by name (mdbook). The --path bridge still crosses an interface decline.
--path pair order and test copies (path-order): with several reaching pairs, the pair whose from= owner (else to= owner) is a word of the argument as typed prints first within its proof class, marked qword=; an all-proven chain still leads every hedged one. When from=/to= binds a test or fixture copy while a source definition exists, the root says from_test="1"/to_test="1" and next= runs the nearest source definition that reaches the other end; the pair continuations become alt_next=/unlisted_next=.
--grep carrier definitions (for-small): <enc> carrier rows that print vals= carry p="file:line" for the carrier's one definition (exact or none). tmux --grep=split-window: ◐ → ✓.
CI flakes (ci-flakes): cppqualcheck's cold --uses= alarm follows the harness budget scale; memguardcheck B12/B12b get a parse-tree fixture and an outcome ladder; compactlegendcheck's budget 900 → 1800 s. Test-only.
Disclosed floors: a TS type-alias field type declines the cut (keeps the by-name set); a Python CapWords call naming no in-tree class leaves a field untyped; open Rust trait lists decline rather than bind; qword= fires only on an owner word as typed; the test-twin path classes are those of the listing verbs (tests/, __tests__/, benches/, fixtures/, testdata/, src/test/).
Measured
S1 (163 questions): Rule C 123 → 126 (new rule) / 120 → 123 (old), legacy 135 → 138, lower nowhere. Gains: kysely-06 ✗ → ✓, flake8-14 ✗ → ✓ (receiver typing composed with train 38's reaching pairs), tmux-05 ◐ → ✓, mdbook-14 ✗ → ◐. The sync with main moves legend bytes on 6 rows and no grade.
--impact census: 235/235 byte-identical.
Versions: parser 239 (rich 240), cache 44, qsnap 24. qd gating 0; ASan clean on the touched gates; full-suite-only gates pass.
Commits: lane merges f3aab18 (ci-flakes), 65f8e42 (for-small), 7bc8a77 (path-order), 1efc88c (receiver-fixes); train 99979d4 (qschemetrip re-pin), 3d03da5 (showcase capture + COMMANDS.md); pre-review fe55e01 (an arm for unlisted_next=), 4c09d28 (changelog wording); sync with main (train 38 #454) 41a4538 + regen c50458a.
All four lanes are maintainer work; no fragment takes an idea from an outside project.
Path results can prioritize matches to words in the query and disclose when an endpoint resolves to a test or fixture definition, including available alternate continuations.
Grep results can show the file and line for a carrier with a single definition.
Improvements
Receiver-based resolution better handles typed fields and annotations in TypeScript and Python, plus Rust trait calls with open implementor lists.
Documentation now reflects the updated gate-suite count.
…ords (after proven-ness) and discloses a bound test/fixture copy (from_test=/to_test= + next=)
fzf-14: a pair whose from= (else to=) owner equals a word of the path argument (owner-hop's ownerQuestionWords/ownerFoldName)
prints first within its proof class, marked qword=; an all-proven chain still leads. zed-03: when the bound from=/to= def is
in the test partition or a fixture dir (isTestSymbol / pathTierOf) while a source def of that selector exists, the root says
from_test=1 / to_test=1 and next= runs that def; never re-picked. Present-only legend clauses + compact entries.

cppqualcheck: pargates exports PARGATES_BUDGET_SCALE; a cold repo-root call gets alarm x scale, a warm call keeps the alarm.

A grep <enc> carrier row that prints vals= now carries p=file:line of its one

…ping, open Rust trait declines
TS-FIELD-SELF: a `this.f.m()` / `self.f.m()` whose field the class states as another in-tree
type never binds the caller's own-class namesake (ReceiverEvidence::foreignFieldOwner, cut in
graph.h's name tiers); `this.f` reaches the dispatch tier (gate="iface", one structural
candidate included); `#private` fields and `this.#f = ...` record MemberType; a type-only
`import type { T }` resolves its module for an interface T.
PY-CTOR-ANNOT: `self.f: T`, `T | None`, `Optional[T]` annotations (pyOptionalInner) and
`mod.X(...)` constructors (pyQualifiedConstructed, through the written-qualifier check) type
fields, locals and parameters; `x = mod.X(...)` no longer writes the base Type tombstone.
RUST-DYN-NAMESAKE: an open trait implementors list declines over the bodied methods inside
the trait's impl blocks (IfaceDispatch::openTraitAnswer) instead of a same-file by-name pick;
gate="iface" lists name non-test candidates first.

…aliases keep the own-class candidate, open Rust list cands=1 declines
- F2 pySelfFieldType: a constructor value (CapWords X( ) / mod.X( )) beats the annotation, as for locals
- F1 foreignFieldOwner: a field typed by a TypeScript type alias (indexed as a Struct) does not cut the caller's own methods
- F4 IfaceDispatchAnswer.open: an open Rust trait list with one candidate declines (cands=1), never the name tiers
- F5 ImplBlock records the written trait path; a path that leaves the tree is no in-tree implementor of the open list
- G1/G2 receiverfixescheck: two-member union arm (goBoth2), run() fails on rc != 0, presence controls for T4 and Y2

…till a #11 crossing; receiverfixescheck accumulates
fbd4d91 routes `this.f.m()` / `p.f.m()` with f stated as an in-tree interface to the
L6 dispatch tier, so the declined row's kind is Iface (gate="iface"), no longer Ladder.
DeclinedCrossRule (backhops.h) lifted the builtin-name skip for Ladder declines only, so
hono's `this.router.match( … )` read as String.prototype.match again: no bridge crossing,
near_sink why="external" (hop1check D1, D2, D8, M1). Accept Iface too; the stated-class
conditions (3)/(4) are unchanged, so a field typed string / outside the tree stays skipped.
receiverfixescheck: new fixture tshop and arms H1 (this and parameter shapes, bridge via=declined
cands=2), H2 (gate=iface cands=2 kept), H3 (string field not crossed); the wrapper now reads the
harness status and accumulates (house style of hop1check), clearing gateexitcheck (C).

… train 39
Conflicts resolved keeping both sides' behaviours:
- src/pathpairs.h: train 39's qword= / test-twin legends and twin helpers kept;
pathPairsLegend takes main's std::string form with the bridges_unsearched
clause. Root attribute order is written once: pathPairsRootAttrs
(pairs_reaching= bridges_unsearched= alt= alt_capped= next=), then
pathTestTwinRootAttrs renames that next= to alt_next=/unlisted_next= and
appends from_test=/to_test= next=.
- test/pathpaircheck.sh: union of arms (main's N + bridge-cap L, train 39's
Q*/Z* incl. ZX); the xmllint list carries both sides' files.
- changelog.d/versions.md: train 39's 239/240; dictv re-derived by the regen.
- docs/COMMANDS.md: ours for now; regenerated in the next commit.

Walkthrough
The changes update receiver-based resolution in Python, TypeScript, and Rust; add ordering and test-definition details to path results; expose eligible grep carrier definition locations; and revise CI gate budgeting, fixtures, suite membership, and gate-count references.
Changes: Receiver-Based Resolution
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Capture receiver type evidence src/ingest_binds.h, src/langfacts.h, src/ingest_cache.h, src/quality.h, changelog.d/*, test/qschemetripcheck.sh
Ingestion now captures Python optional annotations and qualified constructors, TypeScript private fields, and Rust trait paths. Language facts identify instance receiver names. Parser version records and changelog entries describe these extraction updates.
Dispatch uses typed field receivers and open Rust trait implementor lists to return candidates or declines. Regression checks cover Python, TypeScript, and Rust cases.
Path Pair Reporting
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Order pairs and identify test twins src/pathpairs.h, changelog.d/path-pairs-question-words.md, changelog.d/path-test-twin.md, src/compactlegend.h
Path pairs can be ordered by matching owner words in the query. Results can also disclose test- or fixture-bound endpoints and provide an outside-definition continuation.
Wire path output and validate CLI and MCP src/verbs_navigate.h, src/mcpverbs.h, test/pathpaircheck.sh
CLI and MCP path commands pass the query into pair calculation and emit the new legend and root attributes. Tests compare path results, continuation attributes, and MCP output.
Carrier rows can include p= when they have stored values and exactly one definition. CLI and MCP output and legends expose the location, with checks for eligible and ineligible rows.
CI Gate and Suite Updates
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Pass budget scale to gate scripts test/pargates.py, test/pargatescheck.sh, test/cppqualcheck.sh, changelog.d/ci-flakes-cppqual-memguard.md
The harness exports PARGATES_BUDGET_SCALE. The C++ qualified-call check applies a scaled alarm to cold calls and reports timing. Tests check budget propagation.
Update gate fixtures and suite records test/memguardcheck.sh, test/regression.sh, README.md, docs/EVALS.md, present/deck5_ripwire_build.js
The memory-guard check tries generated fixtures at multiple sizes and reports attempted sizes on failure. The regression list includes swiftshapecheck, and gate-count references change to 720.
A loaded CI run may time out, and some path results lack a compact explanation for their test-copy attribute. These are bounded risks, but both should be fixed before merging if feasible.

Review comments at @src/compactlegend.h:
- Line 837: Split the `from_test` compact-legend row in the legend table into
independent `from_test` and `to_test` rows, each with a self-contained reading,
so a `to_test`-only answer also prints its reading. Verify the per-verb byte pin
in `test/compactlegendcheck.sh` and add a compact-legend assertion for fixture
`ZT` in `test/pathpaircheck.sh`.
Review comments at @test/pargates.py:
- Line 334: Increase the timeout budget for the compactlegendcheck.sh entry in
the test budget table above the measured 2115-second loaded run, so comparable
contention does not trigger the hang tripwire.

A to_test-only --path answer (fixture ZT) carried no reading for to_test=,
next= or alt_next=/unlisted_next= in the compact dialect: the one row was
keyed on from_test and "also defined" to_test=, but the two attributes are
independent. Split it into a from_test row and a to_test row, each
self-contained. pathpaircheck pins the compact reading on a to_test-only,
a from_test-only and a both-sides answer.

Two completed runs on a loaded host (2115 s, 3072 s) outlast the 1800 s
hang tripwire. A budget under a measured completed run reads contention as a
hang; 3600 clears the longest by 17 % and still stops a real hang.

CodeRabbit reviewed c50458a and left two inline comments (no nitpicks or outside-diff items in the review body). Both were checked against the code and both were real; the fixes are in the three commits after c50458a:
8ea3e81: the compact legend gets a separate to_test= reading (from_test and to_test are independent, so a to_test-only --path answer had no reading); pathpaircheck pins the compact reading on a to_test-only, a from_test-only and a both-sides answer.
fc469a5: the compactlegendcheck.sh hang-tripwire budget is raised from 1800 s to 3600 s, above both completed loaded runs on record (2115 s and 3072 s).
0b87a18: the showcase capture, COMMANDS.md and the legend-dictionary version (946 -> 947 entries) regenerated once for the new legend row.
Answer change: a --path answer carrying to_test=1 gains the to_test reading (+258 B on the test fixture); one carrying only from_test=1 loses 14 B; one carrying both gains 244 B. Every other answer is byte-identical (33 argv checked).
Checked on a plain dev build at 0b87a18: pathpaircheck (also under ASan), compactlegendcheck, showcasecapturecheck, docscommandscheck, legenddriftcheck, printffmtparitycheck, mcpmanifestcheck (tools/list 47,411 B), the rest of the full-suite-only list, and the quality-delta gate (0 gating).
