What

A new, skippable wizard step after Contact details. It asks owners to connect the node to their account. If they don't have an account, one is made for them. It posts to the same /set-up/claim route as the Node claim section on the Configuration page, so only the wording is new. If they skip or enter the wrong address, the step points them to that section.

Behaviour

  • Prefill: the stored claim address first. If none is stored, the contact email from the previous step fills the box as a suggestion. Nothing is emailed until Send is pressed.
  • Already claimed (wizard re-run): shows the owner's address read-only with an "Already claimed" note. Send is hidden, so Skip is the only way on. This matches the Configuration page's rule.
  • Empty box + Send: asks for an address or a skip, rather than posting. On this route an empty box would delete the stored address.
  • Limitation: the claimed check reads the claim state reported by retina-telemetry, as the Configuration page does. If telemetry isn't reporting, the step falls back to the normal, sendable view.

Files

  • templates/setup/_claim.html: new step
  • templates/setup.html: include + footer buttons
  • static/setup.js: step name + enter hook
  • src/routes/setup.py: passes the claim prefill and owned flag
  • tests/test_claim.py: render, prefill and claimed-node tests

Testing

  • Full suite passes locally (1016).
  • Not yet clicked through in a browser. The contact-email prefill happens in the browser, so no automated test covers it.

A new step after contact details asks for the address that should own the
node and posts to the same /set-up/claim route as the Node claim section on
the Configuration page. It is skippable, and points owners to that section if
they skip or get the address wrong.

The box is prefilled with the stored claim address, or failing that the
contact email from the step before as a suggestion. A node that is already
claimed shows its owner read-only and can only be skipped past.

postJSON rejects on any non-2xx response and dropped the per-field errors,
so the claim step's refusal branch never ran and a malformed address read as
a connection failure. The rejected error now carries the errors, and the
claim step shows the first one. Found testing the step live on owl-ded9.
