CARD TITLE (intent, not commit subject): fix-forward #4004 (tsk-pxwdmj): make the one-open-request-per-kind check atomic inside AuthBrokerStore.create

Autonomous build of board card tsk-7tkh3z.

REVISION: built on exec/tsk-pxwdmj (cut at d789bedf2ecf459cad19266ac1911f75f6ecb628), not on dev. That branch's

Summary by Gitar

  • Behavior change:
    • A second open sign-in request for the same agent and kind now returns 409 instead of 429
  • Atomic check:
    • OpenRequestExists is raised inside the AuthBrokerStore.create lock to prevent races
  • Docs:
    • docs/agent-coordination.md now describes the one-open-per-kind rule and the 3-request cap

This will update automatically on new commits.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes

    • Duplicate sign-in requests for the same agent and request type now return a conflict response instead of creating another request or sending another notification.
    • A new request is allowed after the earlier request expires, and other agents can still submit requests of the same type.
    • The limit of three open requests remains in effect.
  • Documentation

    • Clarified the per-agent and overall limits for open sign-in requests.

- Add open_request method to AuthBrokerStore returning the newest pending or
code_ready request for a requester+kind that is not expired
- In create_request route, check for existing open request before creating; return
409 with detail 'a sign-in request is already open for this agent' and raise no
  notification when one exists
- Update tests to verify the new behavior
- Update docs/agent-coordination.md to reflect the new limit

Walkthrough

The sign-in broker now rejects a second unexpired pending or code-ready request of the same kind for an agent. The store raises OpenRequestExists, and the route returns HTTP 409 without sending another notification. The existing overall request cap remains in place.

Changes: Sign-in request duplicate prevention

Layer / File(s) Summary
Atomic store guard
tinyagentos/auth_broker.py, tests/test_auth_broker.py
The store detects an unexpired pending or code-ready request for the same requester and kind. It raises OpenRequestExists before applying the existing per-agent cap. Store and cap tests cover the guard and cap behavior.
Route response and request behavior
tinyagentos/routes/auth_broker.py, tests/test_auth_broker.py, docs/agent-coordination.md, changelog.d/tsk-4bw2ew-signin-broker-cap.md
The route maps duplicate requests to HTTP 409. Tests cover notification behavior, expired requests, requests from different agents, and the overall cap. The documentation and changelog describe the duplicate-request response and limits.

Possibly related PRs

  • jaylfc/taOS#4001: Adds the original one-open-request-per-agent-and-kind behavior that this PR moves into the store’s atomic create operation.
  • jaylfc/taOS#4004: Implements the same sign-in broker rule and response behavior; this PR moves the duplicate check into AuthBrokerStore.create.
Merge Risk: Low · previous review 409c5

The change is mergeable with follow-up. Clarify when the request cap applies and test concurrent creation; a notification-storage failure can also delay a sign-in retry for up to ten minutes.

Lead review (taOS-dev): PASS against tsk-7tkh3z. The one-open-per-kind check now runs inside AuthBrokerStore.create under self._lock (open_request takes no lock, so no deadlock), raised as OpenRequestExists and mapped to 409 in the route; ordering vs the 429 cap unchanged; no notification on the 409 path. RED-FIRST test present with FAILED run. Cap tests adjusted via set_code/take_code per card. This PR carries #4004 and #4001: merging it supersedes both. Security path: Jay merges.

Make the concurrency test deterministic.

The current test is sequential. A plain asyncio.gather call only creates an opportunity for interleaving. It does not guarantee that both duplicate checks finish before either insert. Gate both calls at lock acquisition so the test fails when the check runs outside the lock and passes when the check remains inside it.

State the overall cap without conflicting status limits.

Line 2349 says the cap covers pending or code-ready requests, but also says it includes code_read. AuthBrokerStore.create counts all non-expired, non-completed requests, including code_read. State that rule directly so readers can predict when a request returns 429. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
