Mobile discovery now exposes a bounded public shop-name response so the app can label nearby tills clearly. The response contains no branch IDs, staff data, credentials or connection grants. Disabled Mobile POS branches are excluded. The mobile app retains compatibility with the existing Captain discovery endpoint on older installations.

Generated API documentation, endpoint counts and the explicit public-route allowlist include the new endpoint. The REST regression test now uses a dedicated collection for its deliberate legacy email index, preventing normal startup migration from racing the test fixture.

Validation: Mobile POS integration suite passed 22 tests; five optional browser/full-app tests skipped. Includes an exact-response discovery test. Public-route and README claim checks passed all 34 tests.

Merged to develop. Anyone can test this - you do not need write access.

Try it at https://develop.posnic.io, or run it yourself:

git fetch origin develop && git checkout develop
npm install && npm --prefix api install
npm run dev # then http://localhost:3000

When you have tested it, say what you did and what happened, and set
QA passed or QA failed. If you cannot set labels, just comment -
a maintainer will.

Reporting that something is broken is as useful as fixing it. It is
better found here than by a shopkeeper.
