An uploaded dashboard_image currently renders as a full-width illustration below the dashboard search bar. A photograph grows with the page width, pushes content below the viewport and leaves the patterned background visible behind the cards.

Render a configured image as a decorative background behind the cards and search controls, using centered cover sizing and a light theme-coloured overlay. The image no longer contributes to document height or receives pointer events. Keep the existing pattern and people illustration when no custom image is configured. This reuses the existing theme value and changes only the staff dashboard component.

Validation:

  • Browser component checks passed in Firefox at 1440×900 and 390×844 with both a configured data-URL image and no custom image. Checked cover sizing, no additional image-driven page height, no horizontal overflow, foreground hit targets and the existing fallback. The actual dashboard component, Next Image and compiled Tailwind were used with local fixtures for contexts/cards/search; this was not a deployed portal acceptance test.
  • npm ci --no-audit --no-fund and npm run build passed, including TypeScript and static page generation.
  • Targeted ESLint for src/app/[locale]/page.tsx and git diff --check passed.

This changes the presentation of existing custom dashboard images from illustrations to backgrounds. Image cropping follows the viewport aspect ratio. No theme schema, backend, image-publication or deployment changes are included.
