Superseded by #162, which takes nanoid to 3.3.19 (this PR proposed 3.3.18) and covers alerts 153, 159 and 164.

Closing because this PR is CONFLICTING against main after the 09-14 merges (#153, #158, #160) rewrote frontend/package-lock.json, and because #149/#150/#151 all touch that one lockfile — merging any one re-conflicts the other two. #162 consolidates them into a single commit.
