The CUDA host serves v0.40.3. The README's CUDA rows come from production's runs on that build. Docs and run records only.

The first cuda run failed, and why it doesn't count

The first post-deploy cuda run is kept here as preflight-cuda-0403-prod-g75c6d35-contended.json. It failed gemma4's token_ladder and pinned_image_token_budget, every value off by the same +573.

  • What was happening: a production client's gemma4:31b-it-q8_0 shared the GPU, reloading at -c 8192 and -c 32768 in turn.
  • The effect: some gemma4:31b-it-q4_K_M launches got -b 1024, and llama-server logged cap image_max_tokens (original=1120) to n_ubatch (1024) because model needs non-causal attention on image.
  • The result: the two-image calibration mixed counts from runners with different caps, so the in-image prefix came out at −554.
  • The re-run: on an idle server (no requests for 15 minutes, nothing loaded), the prefix is 19 again and every row passes (PASS=20). That idle run is the matrix's cuda row.

Harness gap this exposed: text_baseline passed a −554 in-image prefix. A negative prefix can't be real and should fail the check rather than skew every later count. I'll send that as its own small PR.

This PR

  • README:
    • the CUDA deploy row;
    • the release matrix, regenerated verbatim with release_matrix.py --version 0.40.2-dynres.1 over the four named runs. The comment names the runs and the contended one.
  • runs/: production's idle cuda run, mlx-cuda run and host profile, the canary's two runs, and the contended run.

test_verdicts passes.

…ction's runs

:11497 went to 0.40.2-dynres.1-17-g75c6d35 at 2026-10-14 07:53 AEST: main
75c6d35, the v0.40.3 fold (#488) on the point tag plus #487, a Go-only swap
onto the release image, after a production-like canary passed both platforms.

- README: the CUDA deploy row, and the release matrix regenerated by
release_matrix.py from production's runs on that build.
- runs/: production's cuda run on an idle server (PASS=20) and mlx-cuda run
(PASS=11), its host profile, the canary's two runs, and the first post-deploy
cuda run as -contended.json. That run failed gemma4's ladder and pinned
  budget by a constant +573 while a client's gemma4 q8 shared the GPU: some
  gemma4 q4 launches got -b 1024 and llama-server capped image_max_tokens
  1120 -> 1024, so the two-image calibration mixed caps (in-image prefix -554).
On the idle server the prefix is 19 again and every row passes.

gfx1151 review of #493 at 733b85dcf: confirmed.

Release matrix: I re-rendered it from the PR's tree with the command in the README comment:

release_matrix.py --version 0.40.2-dynres.1 runs/preflight-mlx-metal-0402-dynres1-prod-g3960244.json runs/preflight-rocm7-0402-dynres1-release-g3960244.json runs/preflight-cuda-0403-prod-g75c6d35.json runs/preflight-mlx-cuda-0403-prod-g75c6d35.json

All seven rows match the README byte for byte.

The run files agree with the text:

file verdict build
preflight-cuda-0403-prod-g75c6d35.json PASS 20, SKIP 9 0.40.2-dynres.1-17-g75c6d35, container ollama-0.40.2-dynres.1-17-g75c6d35
preflight-mlx-cuda-0403-prod-g75c6d35.json PASS 11, SKIP 18 the same
-contended.json FAIL 2: gemma4 token_ladder and pinned_image_token_budget, 560 → 1102 the same

The contended run's 1102 is the profile's 529 plus 573, which matches the comment's "constant +573".

gfx1151's rows are unchanged and still true:

Merging at this head under the maintainer's standing permission.

Metal review at 733b85dcf: approve. Docs and run records only, and it merges cleanly into main.

  • The deploy row: 10.8.0.6:11497/api/version answers 0.40.2-dynres.1-17-g75c6d35, as the table says. No v0.40.3-dynres tag has been cut yet, so the row rightly names the main build, not a tag.
  • The release matrix: the comment's command, run on this branch over the four named runs, reproduces the README's table byte for byte. The mlx-metal and rocm7 rows are unchanged.
  • The contended run: keeping it as a named record, with its +573 explained (a client's gemma4 q8 shared the GPU, and image_max_tokens was capped to n_ubatch), is right. It's the same automatic-batch confound that faked a +573 regression on Metal on 2026-10-13. The idle re-run is the row to show.

Approved from Metal. The merge is yours.
