tasks: the muse-glimmer onboarding on Metal is done (MLX and GGUF, with and without DFlash), and its think-on sampling card - #463
Conversation
…on card for it The plan for testing Meta's muse-glimmer on the Metal host, MLX and GGUF tags with and without their DFlash drafter, against production's 0.40.2 release build on :11437. Prepared, not run: the registry facts, what the code leads us to expect, five phases and their pass criteria, and the no-GPU gates' results. sampling.py gains a muse-glimmer think-on entry (temperature from THINK_TEMPERATURE, top_p/top_k from the packaged params), without which think-on cells would run at the packaged temperature 1. …duced, and glimmer against gemma4:31b think-off Phases 0-2 done (inventory, smoke on all eight tags, preflight ladders); phase 3 in progress. The findings and their draft PRs (#464-#468), and summarize_head_to_head.py's table of glimmer against gemma4:31b, thinking off, pasted as printed with its MIXED-build provenance. Several glimmer cells sit on the format + think-off path #464 fixes; the rglfix_ re-run is the comparison to read. Also corrects the record's unknown-think-level line (it falls back to the default; upstream ollama#18473) and the probe check that follows from it. …s 1-5, the fixes it produced, and the follow-ups Phases 0-5 ran on all eight tags. The record's outcome section lists the five fixes now in v0.40.2-dynres.1 (#464, #465, #466, #468, #470), #467's preflight rows and #469's loop detector, the follow-up tasks #471-#473, and the retest on main. Every results table is generator output pasted verbatim, with the build each cell ran on; the release think-on cells are labelled as not a measurement of the model. Also from gfx1151, for the record: DFlash drafting works on llama.cpp/ROCm (b11351). Per-request draft acceptance was 0.65–0.85, with a mean accepted length of 2.9–3.6, in the think-off cell. The think-on cell runs last in the campaign, around midday 10-14. From |

v0.40.2-dynres.1: fix(glimmer): a format with thinking off waits for the message header, in single pass and two-pass alike #464 (glimmer's format path, think-off and two-pass), feat(mlx): draft_num_predict per request on MLX: 0 turns drafting off, N caps the depth, no reload #465, fix(mlx): price muse-glimmer's KV cache; a config.json the estimator cannot read says so #466, fix(vision): an explicit image_max_tokens of 1120 (or min of 70) is honoured; unset reaches the runner as 0 (ADR 0048) #468 and fix(grammar): bound JSON whitespace at llama.cpp's limit on both runners #470.The record

docs/maxusai/vision-suite/sampling.py: amuse-glimmerthink-on entry. Temperature comes fromTHINK_TEMPERATURE(0); top_p 0.95 and top_k 64 come from the packaged params, the only published values. Main doesn't have it yet. Until it does, a glimmer think-on cell sends no sampling keys and runs at the packaged temperature of 1.Main is merged in. The diff is the record and those five lines.
