Select a building in the world

English | Русский

Installable alpha: 0.19.329. Download and release notes. The original 2 November ZIP is unchanged; its internal “private test candidate” wording describes its manual-test origin. This is an alpha prerelease; beta follows completion of the full agreed goal. No Thunderstore upload is included.

Purpose and starting point

Capture saves a copy of loaded parts while leaving the original building in place. Stand near your accessible building and choose SELECT IN WORLD. The source starts in volume mode; installed builds may lag behind current changes.

Steps

  1. Drag LMB to define the area. Look down onto the horizontal plane; the diagnostic hint limits a corner to 512 m away.
  2. Check the displayed plane Y. Bottom and Top are offsets relative to this plane, not automatically relative to the ground. Bottom must not exceed Top.
  3. Adjust both heights and select Refresh selection.
  4. Read the selected count and unloaded-zone count. Inspect the paged list: [x] excludes an entry, [ ] restores it. The mode button switches to the screen rectangle: LMB/marquee selects visible pieces, Ctrl excludes them.
  5. After changing area/heights, refresh before manual changes or saving. Trust the actual list, not just the coloured frame.
  6. Use SAVE SELECTION, enter a name, then find the card in BLUEPRINTS and inspect it in the editor.

Expected result: a copy of selected available parts. The original objects are neither moved nor removed.

Limits and common failures

Capture does not force distant zones to load or guess their contents. If a boundary/limit check fails, reduce the volume and refresh; the previous selection may remain. Container/stand capture failures require checking access, busy state, and supported contents.

Basic capture has earlier acceptance, but coordinate/height issues were reported later. Existing-volume resizing, handles, and intersection rules are under further validation. Lower-corner resizing is included in installed .280, but its in-game acceptance remains open. No completed all-side gizmo or invented centre/corner inclusion rule is promised here.

Missing upper floor: check plane Y, relative Top, loaded zones, and the actual list. Refresh before saving, keep a separate variant, and compare it with the original.

Source321 lower-corner resizing preserves heights and manual inclusion/exclusion in CPU checks and is now installed in .280. The limited editor/import native run did not verify resizing in Valheim.
