feat(webapp): editorial pass over the playing, albums and artist pages - #347
Four refinements from the UI/UX review, all in the web client.
1. Now playing in two columns on wide screens
playing-page.tsx gains a DetailView: above 64rem the track becomes a column of its own (the artwork, up to 26rem instead of the 18rem it was capped at, with the names and the file facts under it) and the lyrics get a tall column beside it (min(70vh, 44rem), larger type). The column still follows the sung line through useFollowSungLine and still seeks on click through LyricLines; the sheet is now read once by DetailView (useLyricSheet) and handed to LyricsStrip, because the layout depends on whether there is one. Between 52rem and 64rem the cover sits beside the names with the words under both, as before; below 52rem everything stacks, cover first, as before. The Lyrics and Immersive views are unchanged.
No lyrics: one centred column, not the queue. A track without lyrics is most of a library; a second column held open for them would be an empty half of the screen. The queue was the other candidate and was not taken: it already has a page and a panel, it is empty as often as the sheet is (so the column would need its own fallback in turn), and a column that changes subject from one track to the next is harder to read than one that is either the words or absent. The rule is the exported detailSplit(previous, state): a sheet opens the column, none closes it, and a wait keeps the shape it had, so moving between two tracks that both have lyrics does not fold the column away and reopen it.
"Controls" in the left column: the transport stays in the player bar, which is always visible on this screen, and the view switcher and "Save this position" stay in the page header. Repeating Play/Pause in the column would put two controls with the same name on one screen; the immersive view carries its own transport only because it covers the bar.
2. Albums: the mixes set apart
The shelf is now headed "Mixes for you" with a line saying what they are ("Playlists drawn from your listening, new every day. Your albums are below."). Each card sits on a tinted panel of its own, a mix with four covers (the server sends up to four) is drawn as a 2×2 mosaic, and every card carries a "Mix" marker on its cover, which is text inside the link. When the shelf is shown, the album grid gets its own heading, "In your library"; without a shelf there is no extra heading.
3. Artist page: image actions behind one menu
The five buttons over the hero (change portrait, Search Deezer, automatic portrait, change banner, no banner) are now one "⋯ Edit" menu button in the same corner (aria-haspopup="menu", aria-expanded, named "Edit images"). It is rendered under exactly the same condition as before (mayCorrectTracks for the artist's library). The status and error messages and the Deezer picker stay in the hero, and the hidden file inputs stay mounted.
The menu reuses the track menu: its placement, outside-press, wheel/touch and ARIA-keyboard behaviour moved verbatim from track-menu.tsx into a new components/popup-menu.tsx, which both menus now use (the track menu's own behaviour is unchanged; its existing tests pass). Two additions to it: align: "end" to hang a menu under a button at the right edge, and anchor, so pressing the button that opened the menu toggles it instead of closing and reopening it. The menu is portalled to the body because the hero clips its overflow.
4. Inspector wording
In a track's "Real quality" section, "Bits used" now reads "Bits in use, measured", and a note under the figures says: "A measurement of the samples, not proof of genuine hi-res: a file that uses every bit it declares was not padded, which does not mean it was recorded at that depth." Nothing computed changes.
Every new string is in English and French, next to its page's keys. Styles are in commented "Editorial pages" blocks; the now-unused .artist-image-buttons, .artist-image-pair and .subtle rules are removed.
Tests
New webapp/e2e/editorial-pages.spec.ts (its own mock, shaped like studio-nocturne.spec.ts), 8 tests × desktop and mobile: two columns at 1440px and stacked at 390px with no horizontal overflow; the lyrics column is tall, follows the sung line, scrolls itself and not the page, and seeks on click; the no-lyrics fallback is one centred column; the mixes shelf is a labelled region, each card marked "Mix", the four-cover mix drawn as a mosaic, above an "In your library" heading and outside the album grid; no album heading without a shelf; the edit menu for an editor (menu button semantics, entries, focus, Escape, toggle) and absent for a reader; the inspector's label and note. expectNoWcagViolations runs on each changed page.
playing-view.test.ts: unit tests for detailSplit.
studio-nocturne.spec.ts, updated in place: the artist-image tests open the menu before choosing an entry (openImageMenu); the listener test also asserts there is no "Edit images" button; the hero contrast test (lowestContrast) now requires and measures the menu button over the picture, then opens the menu and requires and measures "Change portrait" and "Automatic portrait" with every other entry; the mixes test expects the new heading.
All run in webapp/ after merging main: bunx biome check . (no errors), bun run typecheck, bun run test (281 passed), bun run build, and the full Playwright suite rebuilt from the current dist with WAVEFLOW_E2E_PORT=4641. Before the merge of main the whole suite passed apart from the one mixes test this change had to update. After it, run per project, one test failed once in each run and passed three times out of three on its own: "lists what needs attention, splits a credit…" (desktop) and "forgets an episode heard to the end even when a write before it was slow" (mobile). Neither touches the pages changed here; both look like timing under a loaded machine, and they are worth watching rather than counting as passes.
Inversions
Each new test was run against a deliberately broken build (rebuilt each time), seen to fail for its own reason, and the code restored (git diff checked afterwards):

Summary by CodeRabbit
Now playing lays the track and its lyrics out in two columns on wide
screens and keeps one centred column for a track without lyrics; the
day's mixes get a labelled shelf with mosaic covers and a mix marker,
apart from the albums; the artist's image actions move behind one menu
button on the header, built on a popup menu shared with the track menu;
and the inspector presents the measured bit depth as a measurement.

…back everywhere, steadier tests (#350)
* refactor(webapp): build the card menu on the track menu's popup
ActionMenu (#348) carried its own copy of the panel, its keys and its outside-close listeners beside PopupMenu (#347). It is now a button over PopupMenu, which gains an optional icon, a danger entry, an id, a class, and a placement above its button when there is no room below. The placement is a pure function with its own tests. onClose now says whether focus goes back to the opener: yes for a key or an entry, no for a press elsewhere.
Signed-off-by: InstaZDLL <github.105mh@8shield.net>
* fix(webapp): follow media queries through onMediaChange everywhere
The reduced-motion hook and the podcasts two-panel hook called addEventListener on a MediaQueryList directly, which throws on a Safari older than 14. Both now go through the fallback #349 added for the theme.
Signed-off-by: InstaZDLL <github.105mh@8shield.net>
* test(webapp): wait for the writes and the confirmation the slow runs missed
The podcast test read the route's writes straight after a click, before the route had seen them, so they are now polled. The split test's accessibility scan can outlast the four seconds the confirmation stands on a loaded machine, so it is armed again if it lapsed.

Four refinements from the UI/UX review, all in the web client.
1. Now playing in two columns on wide screens
