[InstaZDLL]

Phase A′ of the webapp restructuring: webapp/e2e/studio-nocturne.spec.ts (9,611 lines, 199 tests per project) becomes 21 specs, one per subject, over eleven fixture files under webapp/e2e/fixtures/. Nothing under webapp/src/ is touched.

Three commits: the git mv alone (studio-nocturne.spec.ts → e2e/fixtures/api.ts, the mock server it leaves behind), then the split, then a comments-only commit that repoints the comments the split left pointing at other files (see the last section). The line-preservation proof below is for the split commit (e8b34c9); the third commit touches comment lines only.

What changed beyond moving

Each test keeps its title, body, comments and for-loop generation. Four mechanical rewrites, all made by a script working on the TypeScript AST (symbol resolution, not text matching):

1. The mutable mock state. It was 51 module-level lets, and the tests reassign them (libraries = [...], slowAlbum = new Promise(...), in the tests and in the helpers). A binding imported from another module cannot be reassigned, so they became the fields of one class in fixtures/state.ts, exported as a single instance mock; let name: T = v; became the field name: T = v; with its doc comment, and every reference (295 of them, in the mock, the hook, the helpers and the tests) now reads mock.name. No reference was a shorthand property.
2. The beforeEach. The top-level test.beforeEach(async ({ page }) => { … }) that reset the state and installed the mock is now export const resetAndMockApi = async ({ page }: { page: Page }) => { … } in fixtures/api.ts, its body unchanged apart from (1), and every spec installs it with test.beforeEach(resetAndMockApi);, so each test still starts from the same state. It resets all 51 fields; mock is one object per worker shared by every spec, as the module state was shared by every test of the old file, and nothing carries over from one test to the next.
3. export is added to a declaration only when another file now needs it.
4. References to the old file in two other specs' header comments (workspace-pages.spec.ts, editorial-pages.spec.ts) now name fixtures/api.ts.

Before: 1 file, 9,611 lines. After: 32 files, 9,960 lines (the difference is each file's imports, header, beforeEach line and the blank lines around them). Largest spec 719 lines, largest fixture 822. The for-loop tables (SETTINGS_SECTIONS, MAINTENANCE_SECTIONS) stay in the spec that loops over them.

Line preservation. Every non-blank line of the old file appears in exactly one new file, and in each file in the old order. Imports, the one-line headers, the 21 test.beforeEach(resetAndMockApi); lines, the MockState wrapper and the hook's doc comment are what the split adds; the rewrites are undone before comparing (mock.x → x, a leading export or let dropped, indentation ignored):

The one line short is the beforeEach's opening line, which the hook's declaration replaces. The check was inverted to show it can fail: deleting a line reports it missing, and swapping two lines reports the order broken.

Type checking. e2e/ is not covered by any tsconfig today (tsconfig.json includes src and vite.config.ts only), so bun run typecheck does not see it. Checked with a throwaway config extending tsconfig.json over e2e and playwright.config.ts: before and after give the same errors, 45 × TS2591 (Buffer / process, no @types/node) and one TS2322 on the Last.fm destination in the scrobbling test (studio-nocturne.spec.ts:4292, now scrobbling.spec.ts:144), and nothing else: every import resolves and every name is found.

Checks run (in webapp/)

• bunx biome check .: the same 10 warnings as main. Biome does not reach e2e/ either (files.includes is src/**, *.ts, *.json).
• bun run typecheck: clean.
• bun run test: 40 files, 323 tests passed (vitest includes src/**/*.test.ts only).
• bun run build: built.
• Playwright is left to CI: only --list was run locally.

All of the above, and the --list title diff (still 508 → 508, empty), were run again after the third commit, with the same results.

Comments repointed (third commit)

Comments written for one long file said "above", "below" or "this file" about things the split put in another file. Each now names the file or the test; the reasoning is untouched. Found by grepping the new files for positional words ("above", "below", "this file", "earlier", "previous", "following", "the two tests"…) and reading each hit; the many that point within their own test or their own file were left alone.

• fixtures/catalogue.ts:347: "asserted verbatim below" → "asserted verbatim in scrobbling.spec.ts".
• fixtures/accessibility.ts:39: "the home page has its own test above, and these follow…" → its test in shell.spec.ts ("keeps the light appearance readable"), "and the tests that call this follow…".
• radio.spec.ts:112-121: "every other mock in this file" → "every other mock under fixtures/"; "the two tests above it" → the two credential tests in settings.spec.ts, named (identified from 0732167, the commit that wrote the comment: they are the two earlier tests that hold a request with a gate against a second press); and the French "constat de revue, pris" is now "a review finding, taken".
• The canvas comment ("The loop over the cover, rendered as the desktop renders it…"), which the old file had ahead of the saved-positions test, followed by that test's own doc comment, moves from player.spec.ts to the test it describes, "plays a track's canvas over its cover" in canvas.spec.ts.

Left as they are, on purpose:

• shell.spec.ts:559, "the slowest test in this file": still true. shell.spec.ts holds a subset of the old file's tests, so the slowest of them all is still the slowest there.
• settings.spec.ts:427, "the only expect.soft in this file": already false in the old file (settings.spec.ts:306 uses one too, and both lines come from it). The split did not cause it, so it is reported here and not changed.

Noticed, not changed

• fixtures/api.ts is 822 lines, over the 600 the rules set for code and under the 1,000 for tests: mockAuthenticatedApi is one 720-line route handler, a single if chain, and splitting it would change it.
• The other four specs (themes, workspace-pages, editorial-pages, smart-playlists-and-podcasts) each declare their own session, library and expectNoWcagViolations; they could import the fixtures now. Left as they are.
• e2e/ is neither type-checked nor linted (see above). Adding it would also mean adding @types/node and fixing the TS2322.
