fix(lyrics): read sidecar lyrics and playlists that are not utf-8 - #917
Merged
Merged
Conversation
Sidecar lyrics, an imported LRC and an M3U playlist are decoded through a BOM check, then UTF-8, then an encoding guessed from the bytes, so GB18030, Big5, Shift_JIS and code-page files are read instead of skipped.

A complete miss is cached for good under the audio's hash, so a sidecar that was unreadable before the decoding fix, or added after the miss, stayed hidden. A cached miss is now checked against the sidecar before it is served.

…a miss Lyrics a lookup or an edit wrote between the read of the miss and the write of the sidecar are kept and served instead. Also gives try_local_lyrics its doc comment back.

Closes #910
What
Text files the user brings were read with
read_to_string, which fails on anything that is not valid UTF-8. A sidecar.lrcsaved as GB18030 (what most Chinese Windows tools write) was therefore skipped without a word, and the lyrics were simply not there. "Import a LRC file" failed with an error on the same files.A new
waveflow_core::text_encoding::decodereads such a file whatever its encoding:chardetng, then decoded withencoding_rs. That covers GB18030/GBK, Big5, Shift_JIS, EUC-KR and the Windows code pages.A fixed fallback (always GB18030, as the issue suggests) was not used: GB18030 accepts almost any byte sequence, so a Japanese or Korean file would come back as Chinese-looking nonsense instead of its text.
Used at three places:
.lrc/.txtnext to the track or inLyrics/);import_lrc_file;import_playlist_m3u, whose fallback mapped each byte to one char (Latin-1), so a legacy.m3uin GBK, Big5 or Shift_JIS gave paths that matched nothing.A miss cached before the fix
Fixing the reader alone would only have reached tracks nobody had opened yet. The cache is read first and keyed by the audio's hash, and a complete miss is kept for good, so a track whose GB18030 sidecar was unreadable when it was first looked up kept its "no lyrics" row forever. The same held for any sidecar added after a miss.
read_cached_or_new_sidecar(used byget_lyricsand the cache tier offetch_lyrics) now checks a cached miss against the sidecar before serving it, and caches the sidecar when it finds one. The sidecar is the one local source that can change without the hash changing (a tag edit changes the cache key), and it outranks a miss in every order the waterfall runs, an instrumental verdict included. The cost is one directory listing per lookup, only for tracks without lyrics. The sidecar tier is split out oftry_local_lyricsastry_sidecar_lyricsso both paths share it.
