Alitken Media Converter is an interactive, fast, and feature-rich PowerShell-based media conversion and video splitting utility. It detects hardware acceleration capabilities automatically, handles missing dependencies dynamically with an inline transfer speed progress bar, and integrates with the Windows shell for right-click media processing.
It is designed to run either as a modular PowerShell script or compiled into a single, standalone executable (AlitConverter.exe) using ps2exe.
- ⚡ Automated Hardware Acceleration:
- Queries your system's GPU (supports NVIDIA NVENC, AMD AMF, Intel QuickSync).
- Configures optimal encoding arguments and falls back to CPU (software) encoding if no compatible GPU is detected.
- Supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video codecs.
- ✂️ Video Splitting & Chunk Cutting:
- Cut by Time Duration: Split long videos into custom segment durations (e.g., 60-second chunks).
- Cut by Equal Parts: Split any video into a fixed number of equal parts (e.g., cut a 10-minute video into 4 equal parts).
- Fast Stream Copy (
-c copy): 0% quality loss, 100x rendering speed with zero CPU/GPU encoding overhead. - Custom Codec Re-encode: Change resolution, bitrate, or target codec during segment splitting.
- Part
X/NProgress Telemetry: Displays active segment rendering progress in real time (Splitting Part 1/4 (File 1/1)).
- 🎥 VideoLAN
libdav1dAV1 Decoding:- Integrates VideoLAN's
libdav1dAV1 software decoder, resolving crashes and error rate aborts on AV1 Level 7.3 (Main@L7.3) game clips and screen recordings (Quick Share, Xbox Game Bar, OBS) at up to 770+ FPS. - Codec-Aware Input Stream Probing: Automatically probes input stream codecs via
ffprobe—applyinglibdav1dfor AV1 files and hardware NVDEC (-hwaccel auto) for H.264, HEVC, and WebM files.
- Integrates VideoLAN's
- 📈 Microsecond Duration Progress Bar:
- Uses real-time microsecond timestamp tracking (
out_time_ms) against total video duration for smooth 0.0% to 100.0% progress rendering across all video formats, Variable Frame Rate (VFR) clips, and files without frame headers. - Includes animated indeterminate spinner feedback (
|,/,-,\) during video probing and analysis phases.
- Uses real-time microsecond timestamp tracking (
- 📦 Smart Dependency Installer:
- Detects if
ffmpeg, ffprobe, ormagick(ImageMagick) are present in your localbin/folder or the system PATH. - Automatically resolves the latest BtbN GPL FFmpeg release via GitHub API (
https://api.github.com/repos/BtbN/FFmpeg-Builds/releases/latest). - Displays a real-time inline console progress bar with current download speed (MB/s), downloaded size, and percentage.
- Detects if
- 🖱️ Windows Context Menu (SendTo Integration):
- Includes a built-in installer option to create a "SendTo" shortcut.
- Right-click any file or folder -> Send to -> Alitken Converter for instant conversion or splitting.
- 🛠️ Interactive CLI Config Menus:
- Clean step-by-step menu system to specify video operations (Convert vs Split), target height (480p–4K), bitrate settings, and target codecs.
- Optionally resize images or convert files individually or in batches.
- 🔒 High Performance & Preservation:
- Performs lossless audio copy (
-c:a copy) during video transcode to preserve audio quality. - Auto-resolves filename conflicts (appending suffixes like
_1,_2if output files exist).
- Performs lossless audio copy (
