perf(sarif): index rules once per descriptor - #1269
seonghobae wants to merge 5 commits into
Conversation
Replaced the $O(N^2)$ `list(rules).index(rule_id)` operation inside the loop with an $O(1)$ dictionary lookup using `rule_indices`. This resolves a major performance bottleneck for reports containing a large number of findings across distinct rules.

👋 Jules, reporting for duty! I'm here to lend a hand with this pull request. When you start a review, I'll add a 👀 emoji to each comment to let you know I've read it. I'll focus on feedback directed at me and will do my best to stay out of conversations between you and other bots or reviewers to keep the noise down. I'll push a commit with your requested changes shortly after. Please note there might be a delay between these steps, but rest assured I'm on the job! For more direct control, you can switch me to Reactive Mode. When this mode is on, I will only act on comments where you specifically mention me with New to Jules? Learn more at jules.google/docs. For security, I will only act on instructions from the user who triggered this task. |

In @.jules/bolt.md:
- Line 82: Update the SARIF generation documentation in bolt.md to describe the
original repeated rule lookup cost as O(M × R), where M is the number of
findings and R is the number of unique rule IDs, then describe the
rule_indices-based lookup as O(M + R). Retain the explanation that each
rule_indices lookup is average O(1).

Replaced the $O(M \times R)$ `list(rules).index(rule_id)` operation inside the loop with an $O(1)$ dictionary lookup using `rule_indices`. This resolves a major performance bottleneck for reports containing a large number of findings across distinct rules.
Restore the audited #1273 helpUri repair, rule-index regression, and scoped changelog fragments after the concurrent optimization rewrite removed them. Preserve the already-verified O(M × R) to O(M + R) rule-index implementation and measurement boundary.

#1273 advanced to repair malformed SARIF
helpUriadmission. This PR was therefore stale even though its previous tree preserved the earlier OWASP URI mapping. The new exact head is an ordinary two-parent commit with both previous #1269afa17f1c...and current #12734c45491d...in ancestry. The resulting tree preserves:
