Welcome to the official repository of the ATOM Project, a scientific research initiative focused on the development of a computer vision–driven mechatronic system for robotic manipulation.
The ATOM Project investigates the integration of computer vision, robotics, and digital manufacturing through the construction of a functional robotic arm. The system is manufactured using 3D printing and controlled via vision-based algorithms, serving both educational and experimental purposes.
The project is inspired by the open-source InMoov Project, created by Gaël Langevin. While leveraging its modular mechanical concepts, ATOM adapts and redesigns components to meet academic research goals and to explore alternative control strategies based on artificial intelligence.
Designed and led by Enzo Rocha Leite Diniz Ribas, a Computer Science student, the project emphasizes interdisciplinary development across mechanics, electronics, and software engineering. Beyond building a functional prototype, ATOM aims to establish a research platform for experimentation in automation, human–machine interaction, and assistive technologies.
The ATOM Project aims to:
- Apply computer vision techniques to real-world robotic systems
- Explore open-source mechanical designs within an academic research context
- Develop practical skills in robotics, automation, and embedded systems
- Encourage iterative prototyping and experimental validation
- Serve as a foundation for future research in assistive and intelligent systems
