Summary

• Improve Source Intelligence declaration identification, honest coverage and relation evidence, compact project digest and outline navigation, and authenticated bounded search cursors.
• Reduce retained selection memory and avoid speculative dependency/caller claims.
• Prepare the documented v4.0.1 release, with clear post-release ChatGPT client usability/choice evaluation.

Compatibility

The default source_symbols outline response changes to tree (outlineFiles). Clients consuming historical top-level files and symbols must request presentation: detailed. This intentional response change is documented despite the patch release version.

Verification

• Prior source commit e1c4ad3: GitHub full manual Test Suite #40376382158 PASS, 24/24 jobs covering Linux, macOS, Windows, full race, security, fuzz, smoke and builds.
• Current documentation-only commit: local Markdown links, v4.0.1 release-version validator, 42 Node checks, three Go packages, git diff check PASS.
• PR checks and exact merged main push-event full-tier CI and Scorecard must independently pass before publishing the v4.0.1 tag.

Not part of this release

Spontaneous ChatGPT tool-choice and end-to-end comparison against grep/read remain unmeasured and are scheduled after a controlled connector update.
