seamless integration with current environment

There is not a good way to install the dotfiles. Currently, the dotfiles folder is separate from the dotfiles at ~. So any new dotfiles need to be migrated into ~.
It would be great if a dotfiles folder could reside in ~ and then version control can be conducted right then and there.
