Fixes #48.

word_count now splits on any run of whitespace. Adds a regression test.

proofcheck: ✅ The PR's claims are backed by evidence

2/2 claims verified · 1 fail→pass, 0 pass→pass, 0 failing on head · 1/1 changed hunk is required by the evidence · 2 files (+5/−1)

Claims

Claim Evidence
✅ verified fixes #‍48
“Fixes #‍48.”
1 test fails on base and passes on head; issue reproducer fails on base (exit 1) and succeeds on head
✅ verified Adds a regression test
“Adds a regression test.”
1 test added/changed in 1 file

Tests: do the changed tests fail before the change and pass after it?

✅ At least one changed test fails on the base commit and passes on the PR head: it exercises the change.

Projects: rust (cargo): no tests changed · python (pytest in adapters/python): no tests changed · e2e-toy (pytest in e2e_toy): evidence, 1 fail→pass

Result Test Base Head
✅ fail → pass e2e-toy:tests.test_textops.WordCountTest::test_repeated_spaces failed passed
  • [e2e-toy] 7 pre-existing test(s) in the changed files were not touched by the diff and are not counted as evidence.

Issue reproduction

  • #‍48, snippet 1: 🔁 behaviour changed — base exit 1 AssertionError: expected 2 words, got 3 → head exit 0

Diff evidence map

Each changed hunk was reverted on its own and the fail→pass tests / changed reproducers were re-run. ✅ required: reverting it breaks the evidence. ⚠️ not exercised: nothing that was measured depends on it.

Hunk Status Evidence that broke
e2e_toy/textops.py:9 ✅ required e2e-toy:tests.test_textops.WordCountTest::test_repeated_spaces, #48 snippet 1

Scope

  • 2 files changed (+5 / −1 lines)

proofcheck judges evidence, not authorship: it runs the PR's tests on the base and head commits, replays issue reproducers and checks claims against what it measured. It does not guess whether a human or an AI wrote the code. ⚠️ means no evidence, not wrong. Base 037dab2 → head 237a3df · proofcheck 1.0.0
