OpenCode 2.0.31: goal tools unavailable although /goal and goal agent register #85

Closed

Description

@iCarlost

Environment

  • OS: Windows 11
  • OpenCode: 2.0.31
  • opencode-goal-plugin: 0.11.0
  • Config: global ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json
  • Agent tested: both default Build and plugin-provided goal

Minimal config:

{
  "plugins": ["opencode-goal-plugin@0.11.0"]
}

opencode debug config confirms that this is the active config:

[
  {
    "type": "document",
    "path": "C:\\Users\\JG PC\\.config\\opencode\\opencode.json",
    "info": {
      "plugins": [
        "opencode-goal-plugin@0.11.0"
      ]
    }
  },
  {
    "type": "directory",
    "path": "C:\\Users\\JG PC\\.config\\opencode"
  }
]

What works

The plugin is clearly loading at least partially:

  • /goal appears in the command list.
  • /agents shows the goal agent.
  • The hidden verifier agent is not expected to be user-selectable.

What fails

The agent-facing goal tools are unavailable.

Test from the default Build agent

The project had an AGENTS.md instruction requiring modifying tasks to call goal_set first and finish through goal_complete.

On a simple file-edit request, Build attempted the workflow but reported:

The instructions of AGENTS.md require finishing through goal_complete,
but that tool is not available in this environment.

Test from the plugin-provided goal agent

Prompt:

So the failure is not limited to the default Build agent; the plugin's own goal agent also cannot call the goal tools.

Expected behavior

With registerTools left at its default true, the canonical tools documented by the plugin should be available, including:

  • goal_set
  • goal_status
  • goal_pause
  • goal_resume
  • goal_block
  • goal_complete

The plugin command and agent registration succeed, but the tool surface does not appear to be usable on OpenCode 2.0.31.

Notes

This was reproduced after removing an unrelated oh-my-opencode-slim registration/cache so the active OpenCode config contains only opencode-goal-plugin@0.11.0.

I also noticed that the repository currently has active OpenCode 2 compatibility work around 2.0.26 (#83 / #84), so this may be another host-surface regression in newer OpenCode 2 builds.

Happy to run any additional diagnostic command or test build that would help isolate it.
