Scouting

WildRank supports 3 scouting modes. Pit, Match, and Note scouting. The current mode can be selected on the app's home page and effects how the scouting mode works and what data is available in team rankings, side-by-side, results, and pivot table pages.

Scouting Selection

When entering scouting mode a selection page is first presented. The data on this page varies based on current mode. In general the selection menu on the left displays teams or matches to choose from and the right panel displays information about the selection and options to scout. If results already exist for the selection the selection will appear gray and options to edit or view the results will appear. The default selected option will be the first option after the last existing result.

Pit Selection

In pit mode a list of teams is displayed along the left. When one of these teams is selected, it's avatar, team name and number, and picture are displayed on the right. There are also options to scout the team's pit and take a picture of the robot.

Match Selection

In match and notes modes a list of matches and its teams are displayed along the left. In match mode, the match number is displayed along with the team's avatar, number, name, picture (if it exists), and a button to scout the match.

Scouting

When scouting is started from the appropriate selection screen the scouting page is launched and the page is build using the scouting config file, except for note scouting where the page uses a template.

Pit Scouting

The intended use case of the pit scouting mode is collecting data on teams' robots by visting their pits before compitition begins.

Match Scouting

Match scouting is designed to collect data on the performance of each robot in each qualification match of the event. There are 6 positions for match scouting, 3 for each red and blue alliances. Using these positions 6 scouters can be assigned a robot for every match of the event automatically.

Note Scouting

Note scouting is both more and less rigid than the other 2 modes. Note scouting like match scouting is match based and allows notes to be taken on each robot of each match, however, the inputs for notes taking are not configurable. Instead only a single text box is available for each team in the match. Where note scouting is flexible is in scouter configuration. One person can scout all 6 teams on the field, 1 could be assigned to each alliance, or 6 could each keep an eye on 1 robot. But be careful when syncing, currently WildRank only allows 1 set of notes per match-team.
