Tildr is a command-line tool (CLI) written in Rust (it is not merely a personal dotfiles repository) that manages files in the
$HOMEdirectory by moving them to a repository—which may or may not be Git-controlled—and projecting them back to their original locations via symbolic links (symlinks).Ideal for beginners and intermediate users
A small, explicit command set (
init,add,apply,status,doctor,restore,unlink), featuring dry-run support and adoctorcommand for health checks. One-line installation scripts for Linux/macOS, plus native RPM/DEB/AUR packages.Also ships Nautilus and Dolphin context-menu integrations, so basic Tildr
actions are available right from the file manager, no terminal required.
Maintenance
Actively maintained, with regular releases and an up-to-date CHANGELOG, alongside GitHub Actions CI for build, release, and packaging processes.
Documentation
Dedicated documentation site (https://orbitbits.com/tildr/documentation/), man pages for every command, and a CONTRIBUTING.md file in the repository.
Usage/Adoption
Early stage—released about a month ago, so it does not yet have a significant number of stars or forks. Already packaged for Arch (AUR), with active RPM/DEB repositories and work underway for official submission to Fedora/EPEL and Debian.
