[ADHD] v0.6.0 — calm, actionable workspace dashboard #56

Closed

Description

@uniskela

Parent: #51

Goal

Redesign the workspace dashboard to show what needs action without duplicating the sidebar or flooding the page with audit rows.

Focus

  • Summary: stacks, drafts, sync issues and last checked; show source freshness distinctly from deployment acceptance/health.
  • Needs attention: collapse duplicate stack entries (e.g. one outdated draft shown twice), group real failures and actionable draft work separately.
  • Remove shortcut buttons that duplicate persistent nav; replace full audit table with recent meaningful activity (up to five items) and link to Settings → Activity.
  • Provide contextual Fetch now and clear background sync state; accessible mobile layout.
  • Avoid pretending that ordinary drafts are system failures.

Next

  1. Snapshot existing desktop/mobile behavior.
  2. Add summary/attention aggregation as a pure tested mapper.
  3. Build and visually verify dashboard changes, including axe tests.

Resume

Follow the dashboard acceptance checklist in docs/internal/plans/2026-10-20-v0.6.0-automation-deployment-dashboard.md.

Done when

  • No duplicate attention entries.
  • Short useful overview and clear timestamps.
  • Mobile/desktop/keyboard/axe coverage.
  • Activity details remain available in Settings → Activity.

Implementation progress (2026-10-20)

  • Opened draft PR #63 on feat/dashboard-focus-issue-56, implementing focused summary tiles, sync freshness, deduplicated outdated-draft attention, separate work-in-progress drafts, short activity feed, and contextual fetch.
  • Added pure aggregation tests, desktop/mobile Playwright/axe smoke coverage, styling and getting-started docs.
  • Fresh CI run passed: 404 tests, 38 Playwright/axe passes with 12 intentional skips, production build/smoke, Docker, lint/types/format. CodeQL/Gitleaks/SonarCloud quality gate passed.
  • Kody code review requested on PR feat(dashboard): simplify source workspace overview #63 and still running; address any findings. SonarCloud quality gate passes but reports 3 new maintainability findings requiring disposition. Desktop and mobile Playwright/axe passed.
  • Obtain explicit merge approval; do not merge or deploy automatically.

Resume: Open PR #63 checks and review the first failing step (if any), then follow Kody review threads. Nothing has been deployed.

Kody findings remediation (2026-10-21)

  • High: batch draft-count failure — isolated per-stack/per-repository failures, redacted warnings, explicit partial-data notice.
  • High: activity feed starvation — SQLite filters routine successes before LIMIT while retaining failures and workspace scoping.
  • Replied individually and resolved both original review threads.
  • Fresh PR #63 CI: 409 unit/integration tests and 38 Playwright/axe tests passed (12 expected skips). Docker, CodeQL, Gitleaks and SonarCloud quality gate passed.
  • Investigate 5 SonarCloud new-code issues reported despite passing quality gate; await fresh Kody follow-up.
  • Obtain explicit approval before merging. No deployment performed.

Resume: PR #63, branch feat/dashboard-focus-issue-56, HEAD d8c6ed5. Check follow-up Kody and SonarCloud threads first.

N+1 remediation (2026-10-21)

  • High: per-stack draft-count N+1 — replaced per-stack/per-repository draft reads with one metadata-only SELECT repository_id, path across workspace repository IDs, then in-memory scoped counts. On batch failure, retry individual repositories to isolate errors.
  • Added unit tests for one-query behavior, path boundaries, overlapping roots, fallback and unfetched repositories; SQLite integration test confirms metadata-only projection and repository scoping.
  • Final CI run green: 413 unit/integration tests; 38 Playwright/axe passes (12 expected skips); Docker, lint, typecheck, CodeQL, Gitleaks and SonarCloud quality gate green.
  • Answered Kody's intermediate-commit mismatch observation; the final dashboard caller is updated and passes typecheck.
  • Kody re-review requested on final HEAD 5487bfc; await findings.
  • SonarCloud reports 5 new-code issues despite passing quality gate; read and disposition individually.
  • Explicit user merge approval. No merge, release or deployment performed.

Resume: PR #63, branch feat/dashboard-focus-issue-56, HEAD 5487bfc.

Verified on main (8333dd8), release audit #57

    "Done when" criteria:

    • No duplicate attention entries: a pure mapper groups each stack's draft and outdated files into one row and groups outdated paths outside stacks by repository (tests/unit/dashboard-overview.test.ts, 7 cases including stale stack ids from another repository).
    • Short overview and clear timestamps: summary of source sync states and the latest attempt, labelled "Git source states, not container health". Recent activity is capped at five, routine successes are filtered before the limit, failures are kept (unit and SQLite tests).
    • Mobile/desktop/keyboard/axe: dashboard.spec.ts passed with axe on desktop and Pixel 7 in the full audited run. fix: harden v0.6.0 release audit labels, tests and upgrade docs #67 adds a keyboard check (Tab to View all activity, Enter opens Settings → Activity), which passed on both.
    • Activity details remain in Settings → Activity: linked from the dashboard and asserted in e2e.

Found during the audit and fixed in #67: deployment and routing events added in v0.6.0 showed raw ids (for example deployment.unknown) in the dashboard feed and Activity. They now have labels.

    Closing as verified on main.
