Parrot records microphone and system audio, so security reports get top priority here.
Please report vulnerabilities privately via GitHub Security Advisories rather than public issues. This is a solo-maintainer project, so "within a few days" is the honest response time — but audio-privacy issues jump every queue.
Especially interested in:
- anything that makes audio or transcript data leave the machine without an explicit opt-in
- key material escaping the Keychain (into logs, files, or crash reports)
- permission or entitlement escalations beyond the two the app asks for
Only the latest release is supported. Updates ship as notarized DMGs, signed with the project's EdDSA key. Once a day Parrot checks its update feed on GitHub Pages; Sparkle verifies the signature, downloads the update in the background and installs it when you quit, never during a recording.
To update by hand instead, turn off Keep Parrot up to date in Settings → General. The daily check stays on and still tells you when a new version is out. The check sends only the app's version, nothing about you or your calls.
