Hi Anirban — great work on understory, I've been following it closely.
A question from an architectural perspective: have you considered using a MediaWiki instance as the library instead of a plain markdown bundle?
The reason I ask is that MediaWiki already provides several things understory builds by hand:
Native bidirectional page linking
A real search index (free narrowing before the librarian reads anything)
Full revision history on every edit, automatically
Proven scale — it's been running Wikipedia for two decades
The MCP layer already exists too — ProfessionalWiki's MediaWiki MCP Server gives an LLM hands to read, search and write wiki pages directly.
What I haven't found is anyone combining that with the deterministic librarian logic you've built — enrich before create, link both ways, orphan detection. That part would still need porting.
Curious whether you've looked at this, and whether there's a reason the markdown folder was preferred over something more structured.
