Closes #337.

The extension API gains what a package needs for chats that nobody attends on the portal's pages. Office's document chat (prometheion/pithagoras-extensions#11) is the first user, and it can now drop its workarounds.

What's new

  1. ChildChatOptions.unattended, and the same for chats.start. Such a chat:

    • is offered no ask_question and no routine tools;
    • gets every extension dialog answered at once with its no-answer value;
    • has the guard refuse a held call instead of asking.

It is stored on the session (schema 16), so it holds after a restart. A child of an unattended chat is unattended too, and a child of an unlisted chat is unlisted, whoever makes it.

  2. chats.start({ folder, title, listed?, unattended? }) makes a task chat with no parent and the primary role, in an agent's home or a project folder (nothing else).

    • listed: false needs unattended: true, since a hidden chat could never show that it waits on someone.
    • prompt, abort, remove and lastAnswer take any chat the package made, and refuse other packages' chats.
    • Deleting the project or agent stops and deletes such hidden chats too.
  3. chats.list() order is stated: pinned first, then the most recently active.

  4. chats.lastAnswer(id) returns { status: "running" | "done" | "stopped" | "error", answer, marked?, error? }, read from stored events. It holds across a restart of the half. A marked answer marks the parent, as chats.prompt does.

  5. ChildChatOptions.tools: "parent" | "defaults": with "defaults", a child takes none of its parent's tool switches. Unattended children default to it.

  6. portal.http.person(req) returns { id, name, role } for the request's person.

    • Today the only login is the owner's.
    • A half in a process of its own gets it through a header the portal sets, after dropping any copy the request came with.
  7. The default agent named.

    • home: true on folders.list() is now documented as the first agent's home.
    • A new newChats: true marks the home of the agent the New button starts chats with, which the person can change.
  8. chats.owner(id) returns the chat's agent or project, in the shape of a folders.list() entry (path, name, kind, …). It uses the same rule the sandbox uses to pick the agent a chat runs as.

Two shapes differ from the issue:

  • http.person(req) is a function instead of req.person. An upgrade request is not an Express request, and Express's type would need a global augmentation.
  • chats.owner returns a folder entry instead of { kind, folder, name }, so a half can pass owner.path straight to chats.start.

Docs: packages/extension-api/server.d.ts, docs/guide/extension-ui.md, sessions.md, and upgrading.md with a schema 16 section. No package version is bumped.

Tests

  • New and extended: child-chats, child-chats-api, guard-asks, isolated-halves, extension-folders, agents-names, and schema-fingerprint (upgrade from schemas 15 and 14).
  • Each new test fails on the old code. The exceptions are tests that pin behaviour that already held, such as the chats.list order and the home mark.
  • npm test -w core/server: 1611 tests, 1597 pass, 0 fail, 14 skipped.
  • Proved in a real local portal, with a test extension that has an isolated server half and a scripted model:
    • an unattended started chat is offered no ask_question, and its dialog is answered false after 0 ms;
    • lastAnswer gives the answer of a run that ended while the extension was switched off;
    • unattended survives a portal restart;
    • tools: "defaults" works;
    • http.person works, and a forged header is dropped.
  • Review: one round (correctness, security, spec) for items 1–6, and one for items 7–8.
    • The high finding: a child of an unattended chat could still ask, so a subagent of it would have waited forever. It is fixed with a test.

ChildChatOptions.unattended keeps ask_question out of the chat, answers
every dialog an extension opens at once with its no-answer value, and has
the guard refuse a held call instead of asking. Schema 16 keeps it on the
session row, so it holds when the chat's pi starts again.

chats.start makes a task chat with no parent, in the primary role, that
only the package that made it prompts, stops and removes. An unlisted one
is in no list, and goes with its project or agent like the folder's other
chats.

Pinned first, then the most recently active, as the sidebar lists them,
with a test that holds the code to it.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
chats.lastAnswer reads the chat's last run from its stored events: running,
or how it ended, the last thing it said, and whether the guard holds the
chat as marked, also with no pi running for it. A marked child marks its
parent, as chats.prompt does.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
ChildChatOptions.tools takes "parent" (the default) or "defaults": the
tools a new chat of the folder has, with none of the parent's switches,
and no holding to them later. An unattended child starts from the
defaults unless it asks for its parent's. Schema 16 keeps the choice.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
portal.http.person(req) gives the person and role of the login a request
or an upgrade came with; every login is the owner's for now. A half in a
process of its own is told the same in a header the portal sets on each
request it hands on, dropping one the request came with.

…idden chats unattended

A chat a server half started and keeps out of the lists no longer keeps its
project or its agent from being deleted while it works: nobody could find it
to stop it. chats.start refuses listed: false without unattended: true.

…message really do

The guide said tools: "defaults" also drops the parent's mode's layer; it
does only where the child is put in another mode. The parent mark from
lastAnswer holds only while the parent's pi runs. A started chat's message
is the primary user's own words: outside words go through a flagged tool,
and a tool that starts a chat declares the delegate act. Keep the id.

Walkthrough

The extension API adds package-started task chats, unattended and tool-selection options, chat ownership and last-run results, and authenticated request-person access. The server stores the new session state, updates chat lifecycle behavior, and exposes the APIs through in-process and isolated server halves.

Changes: Package chat lifecycle

Layer / File(s) Summary
Folder labels and chat ownership
core/server/src/agent-folders.ts, core/server/src/agents.ts, core/server/src/api/agents.ts, core/server/src/server.ts, core/server/src/extension-host.ts, core/server/test/extension-folders.test.mjs, core/server/test/child-chats.test.mjs, docs/guide/extension-ui.md, packages/extension-api/server.d.ts
Folder entries distinguish the default agent home from the home used for new chats. The API can resolve a chat’s agent or project folder.

Session storage adds unattended and tool-source fields. Listing excludes unlisted task chats by default, and project or agent deletion includes those chats. The schema version advances to 16.
Child and package chat creation
core/server/src/child-chats.ts, core/server/src/session-manager.ts, core/server/test/child-chats.test.mjs, core/server/test/guard-asks.test.mjs, docs/guide/extension-ui.md, docs/guide/sessions.md, packages/extension-api/server.d.ts
Child chats can inherit unattended status and use parent or folder-default tools. Packages can start task chats in agent or project folders, with validation for folders, titles, and listing options.
Chat ownership and last-run results
core/server/src/db.ts, core/server/src/extension-host.ts, core/server/src/half-runtime.ts, core/server/src/isolated-half.ts, core/server/src/session-manager.ts, core/server/test/child-chats.test.mjs, core/server/test/isolated-halves.test.mjs, docs/guide/extension-ui.md, packages/extension-api/server.d.ts
Package-owned chats support prompt, abort, removal, and last-answer lookup. Last-answer results include run status, answer text, errors, and marks.

Request person identity

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

The changes satisfy the coding requirements in #337. ChildChatOptions supports persisted unattended chats and tools: "parent" | "defaults"; unattended chats suppress questions and dialogs and refuse held guard calls. Child chats inherit unattended and unlisted state. newPackageChat creates removable top-level chats for valid agent or project folders. The API adds chats.start, chats.lastAnswer, and http.person, with ownership checks and restart-oriented stored-event handling. The declarations and guides document the new API. The added tests cover unattended behavior, package chats, ordering, last answers, tool selection, request identity, and schema 16 upgrades.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changes stay within the extension API work in #337. The home and newChats folder markers support selecting and identifying the folders used by package-started chats. chats.owner supports the same folder ownership model used by chats.start. Schema migration, runtime wiring, typings, documentation, and tests directly support the requested behavior. No unrelated change is demonstrated.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 100.00% which is sufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 16 functions across 21 files. Use the same cookie parsing as HTTP authentication.

For a valid quoted login cookie, requireAuth accepts the request, but isAuthedUpgrade retains the quotes and returns false. http.person(req) then returns undefined, so an extension can reject an authenticated owner. Use the same cookie parser for both paths. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

…obody attends

Comments and the editor's chat now start their chats with chats.start in the
agent's home or the project's folder, unlisted and unattended, instead of
children of one of the person's task chats: an agent with no chat of its own
answers too, and the question tool, the dialog abort and the parent choice
are gone. After a restart the half reads each run back with
chats.lastAnswer and posts an unmarked answer. The routes ask http.person,
a new document from the Office tab goes to the newChats home, and a chat's
folder comes from chats.owner. The API is typed by a temporary local file
until the extension API with thecodacus/pithagoras#339 is published; on an
older portal the agents do not answer comments and say why.

* Add the Office extension: Word and Excel documents in OnlyOffice

Ported from thecodacus/pithagoras#307 (extensions/office) into the collection as the
workspace @pithagoras/office. It imports the extension API from @pithagoras/extension-api
and Docker for extensions' types from shared/docker-api.ts. jszip, which the blank
document templates need, is bundled into server.js by the build instead of being installed
beside the package at boot, so the package needs nothing next to it.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Test and release Office like the other extensions

Add office-release.yml (a tag office-v<version> from a merge that changes the version, then the
GitHub release and npm) and turn on Office's docker-gated integration tests in the unit-test step.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Document the Office extension

Add Office's README and NOTICE, and name it in the collection's README: what it needs, how it is
installed, how it differs from Blender and Godot (OnlyOffice's own image, the portal's shared
network), its release tag and how its tests are run.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix what the review of the office port found

Build the api.js path the way the portal routes scoped extension names, take the
plan, wave and core references out of comments and messages, ship the licences of
the bundled packages, describe the proxy and the panel as they are, name the
extension @pithagoras/office in paths and log lines, and add the German texts.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Put Office's Document Server on a network of its own and tell it where the browser is

The Document Server moves off the portal's shared network onto an isolated
network of Docker for extensions 1.3.0, with two relays of Office's own as
its way in and back to the extension's loopback listener. The /ds proxy now
sends X-Forwarded-Host, -Proto and -Prefix and passes redirects on, so the
addresses the Document Server hands the browser (Editor.bin) are the
browser's: that was the "Download failed" on every open. A save is
downloaded from the Document Server's own files whatever address the
callback names, and the listener keeps its port across restarts.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Mint document keys the Document Server takes

A key with "|" in it is refused when the editor connects (error -23), and a
docId can be longer than the 128 characters a key may have. The key is now
a hash of the docId and the revision hash, and the callback finds the
document by that hash.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Take the Document Server's callback token as it sends it

The Document Server sends X-Auth-Token: Bearer <jwt>, with the envelope under
payload, and every callback was refused with 401, so no edit was ever saved.
The prefix is taken off before the token is verified, and a token of
another Document Server operation is refused. The tests now send the
header the way the Document Server does.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Open documents in the editor, not in the embed viewer

type "embedded" loads OnlyOffice's read-only viewer for a web page, with no
toolbar and no typing, whatever the mode says.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Keep document macros and editor plugins off on the portal's origin

The editor runs under the portal's origin through the /ds proxy, where a
script has the person's session. Macros and plugins are switched off in
the signed editor config.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Pin the Document Server image by the full tag of the tested build

onlyoffice/documentserver:10.0 moves to every new 10.0.x build; 10.0.0.1 is
the build this version was tested with (DocService 10.0.0 build 169).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Keep the Document Server's own endpoints out of the /ds proxy, and refuse oversized bodies

info, internal, the command and conversion services and the AI proxy are
refused however the path is spelled. A body above the cap is answered 413
instead of being sent on cut short.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Keep the editing seat while the Document Server says somebody is in the document

The Document Server names the connected users by their id strings, which
the status-1 handler did not take, so it dropped everyone, the minted seat
too. It also sends status 1 only as somebody connects or leaves, so a
confirmed user no longer expires; a leave, status 2 or status 4 ends it.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Test Office end to end against the real Document Server

An opt-in test (OFFICE_E2E=1 with a Pithagoras checkout) starts Docker for
extensions and Office under the portal's own extension host on the
machine's Docker, opens a document in Chromium as the Office page does,
types into it, closes it and finds the text in the file.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Give an agent the documents of its own folder, read as the agent reads, and own by folder

office_read and office_edit read every scanned document from the library
folder, where it is not, so no workspace document could be read. They now
read its own file through portal.files.open, as the chat's agent may read
it. A scanned document belongs to the folder it is in instead of every
agent, and owners and grants are folders instead of whichever chat had the
lowest id; the panel asks the server half for the same scope. Owners of
the version before are moved at boot.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Save an agent's file as the agent had it, and never through a link or over another file

A save replaced the file with a new one of the portal's, with the umask's
mode, which an agent running as its own user then could not write. The
new file now gets the old one's owner, group and mode before it is
renamed into place. A link in the file's place or its folder's is
refused, and a rename never replaces a file of the new name.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Take a change made outside the extension as a new revision at once

The index learned of a file written by a script, a git pull or a copy only
at the next Rescan, so the editor opened it under the old key and its save
was refused, and office_edit went round in circles between two revisions.
Every path that hands out a revision now reads the file's first.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Keep an agent's edit and the editor's session from throwing each other's work away

office_edit wrote under an open editor, whose save on close then carried
the old revision and was refused, losing everything typed. office_edit now
refuses while the document is open (error:open_in_editor), by the seat the
Document Server confirmed or, after a restart, its own info command. A
save the revision check still refuses (the file changed on disk) is kept
as a conflict copy beside the document and recorded in the audit log, and
the editor's badge says that reloading keeps what was typed.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Let the end-to-end test leave its containers for a look at the logs

OFFICE_E2E_KEEP=1 keeps the Document Server and its relays after the run.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Close the end-to-end test's own server also when its containers are kept

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Tell comments apart by author and text, and read OnlyOffice's document comments

The Document Server numbers the comments anew from 0 at every save, so
comparing by id took a scanned file's old comments for new ones at its
first save (a planted mention woke an agent and granted it the document)
and missed new comments that got an old id. Comments are now told apart
by author and text, at index time too. Comments anchored to no text,
which OnlyOffice keeps in a part of their own, are read as well.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Read the comment keys of an imported file in the store tests

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Keep a document whose file is gone for a week, in case it comes back

The 30 s settle dropped an entry the moment its file was missing, so a git
checkout of another branch lost the document's owner, grants and history,
and an open session's save, and the file came back as a new document. The
entry is now marked and dropped only after a week; the library shows it
as missing, and the editor says so instead of opening nothing.

* Sign document tickets with a secret the Document Server never has, for one revision

The Document Server's environment held the one secret that also signed
the tickets, so a converter exploit could read any document. Tickets now
have a secret of their own, name the document at one revision, and are
refused once it moved on. Documents are read at their own name only,
never through a link put in the file's place.

* Trash a document with where it was and what was kept for it, across mounts too

A deleted workspace document landed in the trash as a bare file named by
time and id, with nothing saying where it belonged, its state stayed
behind for ever, and a workspace on another file system than the data
folder could not be deleted at all (EXDEV). A trash entry is now a folder
with the file, document.json and the document's state, copied over where
a rename cannot cross. The changes archives, which nothing ever read, are
no longer fetched or kept, and the dialog and README say what is true.

* Read the text part office_edit edits within the zip caps

office_edit inflated word/document.xml with jszip, outside the 256 MiB
entry and 1 GiB archive caps the rest of the code keeps, so a planted
.docx could hold hundreds of MB in the portal's memory. It now reads the
part through ooxml's capped reader, which refuses it before inflating.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Type-check Office's tests in the build, as the other extensions do

tsconfig.json covered src/ alone, which hid 55 errors in the tests, among
them store tests that made spreadsheets where they meant Word documents
(createDoc without a type). The tests are included now and fixed.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Run Office's integration tests always, as they need no Docker

The three tests behind OFFICE_IT_DOCKER only probed docker info and then
ran in-process against a stand-in, so a plain npm test skipped them for
nothing. The gate goes from the tests, the workflows and both READMEs; the
real Document Server is the opt-in end-to-end test's, which the README now
names.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Hold Office's tools to the guard, keep comments out of the wake, translate the labels

The tools declared no guard, so the text of any .docx in an agent folder
and comments written by anybody reached the model unmarked, and a wake
quoted the comment straight into the chat. Every tool's result is now
outside content, with no guard rule decided as fitting any of them; a
wake names the document and the agent reads the comment through
office_comments. The labels shown while a call runs come from a table
with German, as Blender's do.

* Refuse an image with no tag, which Docker reads as :latest, with one rule for both halves

The server half and the Settings page each had their own :latest rule,
and both let onlyoffice/documentserver through, which is :latest. One
function now refuses :latest, :stable, @latest and a reference with no
tag, and both use it.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Drop the German of the image tag texts the page no longer shows

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Have other zip readers than Office's own read its fixtures and its writes

The fixtures were written and read by the extension's own zip code, which
cannot find a bug the two share. jszip and Python's zipfile now read the
fixtures and a rewriteZip output too, CRCs checked, entry by entry.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Bring Office in line with the collection: its stylesheet, build note, licences, and writes from the portal only

The stylesheet moves to src/client.css as the other extensions have it,
build.mjs says why it builds the server half itself, a stray parenthesis
goes from THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES, and the routes refuse a change asked from
another page than the portal's own (writesFromHere), as Blender's and
Godot's do.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Test Office under the portal's own extension host, as the other extensions are

A portal-tier test starts Docker for extensions and Office from their
sources under the portal's extension host, with the portal's fake Docker
daemon and a stand-in Document Server: the containers, network and
forwarder through Docker's own API, the /ds proxy through the portal's
routes, the tools in a project's chat reading its document through the
portal's files, and a change from another page refused. With every
extension having a portal tier now, a missing one is noticed again.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Take back saves the Document Server kept as forgotten while the portal was away

A save whose callback found the portal down until the Document Server's
retries ran out was kept by it as forgotten, and came back only if the
same revision was opened again. Once the Document Server answers after
the half starts, each forgotten save of a library document is persisted
as a callback's would be (or kept as a copy over a newer revision) and
let go.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Open the editor only once a new Document Server is set up

A new Document Server container answers its health check within seconds,
but its start script then makes its fonts for about two minutes and
restarts its own services. An editor opened meanwhile lost its connection
at that restart, and nothing typed in it was saved. The status now says
starting until that script is done, the editor config is refused with
ds_starting until then, and the editor page waits and asks again.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Have the editor wait for a start that is under way

Opened right after Start, before the start had written ds.json, the
editor said the Document Server was never started and gave up. While a
start is under way the editor config is now refused with ds_starting, so
the editor page waits for it as it waits for a new server's set-up.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix what the second review of Office found

The way back from the Document Server now runs over the way in: the server
half holds tunnels open to the relay through networks.reach, opened with a
key of its own (relay-secret), and the relay hands each of the Document
Server's connections to one of them. The portal-side relay, its socket
volume and sharedNetwork are gone, so nothing of Office's is on the
portal's network, and a restart of the portal's container no longer
leaves the way back dead.

The Document Server gets a named volume at each VOLUME its image
declares, so its cache with the forgotten saves survives a re-create and
no anonymous volume is left behind. Behind a reverse proxy that ends TLS
without forwarded headers, the /ds proxy takes scheme and host from the
browser's own Origin or Referer of a same-origin request, which ended in
"Download failed" before (now in the e2e test). Deleting a document whose
folder was swapped for a link touches nothing there, office_edit asks the
portal whether the agent may write the folder, whole-file reads keep the
512 MiB cap, settings store only what the person set, and an image digest
is refused.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Save an open editor before an agent edits its document, and edit on top of that save

office_edit on a document open in the editor no longer refuses (open_in_editor). It has the Document Server save each
open session now (the command service's forcesave, through Office's own way in), waits up to 30 s for that save's
callback, and makes the edit on the revision the save wrote. Where the editor does not save in time, the edit is
refused (editor_not_saved) and nothing is written. Edits of one document run one at a time, and the revision gate
still refuses anything that moved the file other than the session's own save.

A session's later saves land on top of its own forcesave, a save holding nothing the session had not saved already is
taken as done (no conflict copy when the old session closes after an agent's edit), and sessions are tracked per key,
so an old session's close keeps the users of the one that loaded a newer revision. GET /editor-state tells an editor
whether to load the agent's revision, editor-config joins a session already open on the revision, and the /ds proxy
keeps the command service closed to browsers.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Load the agent's revision in the open editor in place

The editor page asks GET /editor-state every second how its key stands. Where an agent's edit was made on top of what
the editor had saved, it mints a new config and hands it to the editor's own refreshFile, which reopens the document
in the same frame under the new key, and says that it loaded the agent's edit. The editor's own onRequestRefreshFile
does the same. A change made outside the editor shows the badge as before, whose button now loads the new revision
in place instead of reloading the page.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Describe and test end to end how the agent edits a document open in the editor

The README says what replaces the open_in_editor refusal, the command service among the endpoints the /ds proxy keeps
closed, and what is kept in memory. The end-to-end test types into the real editor, runs office_edit from a chat, and
checks that the edit lands on top of what was typed, that the editor follows to the new revision, and that typing
after that lands on top with no conflict copy from the old session's close.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix what the forcesave-and-reload reviews found

- The open editor loads the agent's revision only once it has sent what is
being typed: a reload drops what it has not sent.
- Every write of a document gets a revision later than the one it replaces,
and an agent's revision wins over the session's own save in keyStanding.
- A forcesave still under way (timed out, or its persist failed) is waited
for before the command's 4 is taken as "nothing new".
- A closing editor (command 3, or 0 without a callback) is waited for until
its close's save lands; a close the Document Server keeps as forgotten is
  taken back before the edit.
- Sessions that already follow an agent's revision are not saved again, and
one that is behind stays behind and is reported as a conflict copy.
- The write permission is checked before the editor is made to save.
- A save on the session's own revision is skipped only when it is the very
same file; contentDigest inflates one part at a time.
- The editor page is tested in Chromium with the portal's React, and the
end-to-end test opens that page and types through the agent's edit.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Ask an open editor to save again after the Document Server gave up its last save

A forcesave whose callback could not reach the portal is dropped by the
Document Server after a few tries; the session keeps what was typed. The
agent's retry waited for that save until it timed out, every time, so no
edit went through until the person closed the editor. Now the retry asks
for a new save first: an answer of 0 means none is under way, and that
save holds everything; 4 still waits for the one under way. A save that
lands also ends the wait for the ones of its session asked before it.

Found against the real Document Server with its callbacks cut for 30 s.

* Prove the agent's own editor inside Office's island: the spike gate

The agents' browser (Chromium's headless shell, pinned by its digest) runs on
the island, opens a seat page from the listener through the relay's way back,
and opens an OnlyOffice editor for each document an agent works in. Each
editor runs Office's own plugin, which takes the agent's edits as jobs and
makes them with fixed command functions. The end-to-end spike shows that a
person's unsaved typing is read, a replace, a heading and a table land live in
the person's editor, a command that fails after it changed something is taken
back, a spreadsheet formula lands and saves with its value, a view seat reads
live, and the way back holds under the long-polls.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Test the agents' browser container: hardened on the island, pinned, never pulled by a tool

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Test the seats: secret and token routes, long-polls, limits, idle, dead plugins and closes

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Keep agents' editors apart from people in a document's presence

An agent's editor is in the Document Server's session like anyone's, so a
person joins it and its saves go through the revision gate, but it neither
locks the document, nor shows as a person editing, nor counts on the badge.
office_list will name it from agentsOf. Tests pin that a person's editor
config never carries a plugin and that no route hands out an agent's config.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Check office_edit's ops before they reach the editor

The four Word ops and the spreadsheet op, their shapes, formats and caps, A1
ranges, and the command's own in-order check of every quote, run here for the
tests from the same source the editor runs.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Read and edit documents through the agent's own editor

office_read gives the document as it stands in the agent's editor, with what
people typed and have not saved, in numbered blocks or addressed cells.
office_edit hands its checked ops to that editor as one job, so people see the
change at once, then has the Document Server save the session and answers the
new revision; a save kept as a conflict copy, or not made in time, is said so.
While the person has Office stopped, office_read reads the saved file and
office_edit is refused. A scanned file is opened only where the agent could
read it, and in edit mode only where it could change it (read_only otherwise).
baseRevision and revision_mismatch are gone; office_list names the agents in a
document apart from the people.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Read the saved file while the agent's editor is not downloaded

office_read says it is the saved copy and how to get the editor; office_edit
is refused with the same advice, and a tool never downloads the image.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Remove the file-rewrite path of office_edit and the editor's follow

The agent edits through its own editor, so nothing is written beside the
editor any more: editDocx and its span helpers go from ooxml.ts, editing.ts
keeps only the save after an edit, callback.ts loses the follow standing and
the bookkeeping of the save-first waits, and the editor page no longer
reloads for an agent's edit (the behind badge and onRequestRefreshFile stay).
The tests of the old path are removed or re-aimed.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Offer the agents' editor on the Office page, and describe how the agent edits

The Office page gets a row for the agents' editor: whether its image is
there, its download with progress, and what it means while it is not.
/state carries it, POST /agent/pull downloads it by its tag and checks the
pinned digest. The README says how the agent edits beside people, what its
browser can reach, what it costs, and its limits; NOTICE names the image.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Say what the signed editor customization holds and what it does not

Measured on the Document Server 10.0: a page that changes the config before
it opens the editor gets plugins, as the server does not hold the page to the
signed customization. A document still cannot switch macros or plugins on,
and a script that could change the config has the person's session already.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Let the end-to-end test shorten the seats' idle limits as they run

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix what a self-review of the agent's editor found

A stopped browser's held page poll is let go with it; office_read's sheet
also picks the sheet of a saved copy; the argument cap is counted in bytes; a
single cell is written as a value, not a one-cell array; the edit's audit
record names the document.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Save an agent's edit only once its editor has sent it

The end-to-end test showed a spreadsheet edit missing from the save that
followed it: a forcesave saves what the Document Server has, and answers at
once when anything is unsaved, the person's typing among it, before the
agent's editor has sent its change. The seat page now passes on the editor's
onDocumentStateChange, and an edit's call answers once the editor has said
its changes are sent (or, an edit that changed nothing, after a quiet
moment); one not sent in time is editor_not_saved. A view-mode editor is
refused an edit before its plugin is asked.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Start the agents' browser again after an idle stop, not a page of before

After the browser stopped for idleness a poll of its old page could still be
held, and the next call took it for a page that listens: it sent the editor
to a browser that was gone. A call now starts the browser again whenever it
was stopped, after the stop has finished, and counts only a poll that came
after the new start.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Save a session as its last person leaves it to the agents' editors

The end-to-end test showed what a person typed last reaching the file only
when the agent's editor closed, up to five minutes later: the session stays
open while an agent's editor is in it. When a status 1 says the last person
left and only agents' editors are in the session, the Document Server is
asked to save it now.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Prove the agent's own editor end to end, beside a person

The end-to-end test now has the agent edit a closed document, one a person
types in without saving, and a spreadsheet beside a person, checks a read-only
seat, a file changed outside, a failed op, that people's editors run no plugin
(a page that adds the agents' plugin to its config reaches nothing), that the
agents' browser reaches the Document Server and nothing else, and that with
Office stopped the agent reads the saved file and edits nothing. test:e2e runs
the spike after it, one at a time.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix what the first review of the agent's editor found in the seats, the tools and the callback

- The sweep no longer stops a browser that a call is starting.
- An editor that does not send an edit, or reports an error after it opened, is closed;
an edit handed while the editor still held changes unsent waits for its word that
they are sent; the page reports a reload the editor asks for as an error.
- The page numbers its state events, and never makes an editor closed while its
  script loaded.
- A result over the limit is error:too_large at once, the editor kept; the read
  commands stop at 200,000 characters.
- A job cut off by its editor's close after the plugin took it is of unknown effect.
- An editor a call has found is not closed to make room for another document.
- A read reopens a document whose file changed outside; office_read falls back to
the saved file on office_stopped too.
- office_edit records an edit whose outcome is unclear, says when an edit changed
nothing, and reads its starting revision inside the queue.
- After a restart, a save that holds what the file holds is no conflict copy; an
  agent's forcesave locks nothing.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Put the agents' editor on a network of its own, and wire the seats' closing with tests

- The agents' browser runs on pithagoras-office-ds-agents, which only the relay
shares: it reaches the Document Server through the relay's way in (port 80) and
the listener through the way back, never the docservice's port 8000 nor a portal
  container on the island.
- A Document Server (re)started closes every agent editor and stops the browser.
- A download of the agents' editor image that cannot begin says why on the page.
- Server tests drive the seats through the listener with a scripted browser: a
trashed document, Office switched off or removed, a restarted Document Server, a
browser left from the run before, and where the editors reach the Document Server.
- The README and the Office page say what the agents' browser reaches and what it
does not keep apart; the seat module says the page trusts the Document Server.
- simulateWord moves into the tests; small stale comments fixed.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Make tables in the real editor rows first, and run every Word op end to end

- DS 10.0's Api.CreateTable takes the rows first: a table that was not square came
out transposed and failed; made rows first, and the other way round where an
  older Document Server does not.
- e2e: each Word op in the real editor (a middle, the last and the only paragraph
removed, a quote in a table cell, a table at the end), a sheet whose cells start
away from A1, and the agents' browser reaching only the relay.
- A download of the agents' editor image asked again with the image there leaves
  nothing under way.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Say that a document keeps one paragraph when the agent removes its only one

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Prove Office in a real portal from a chat, and keep plugins a page adds out of the person's editor

real-portal.test.mts starts the portal's own server (on the machine, or in a
container with its own network namespace), installs Docker for extensions and
Office through POST /api/packages, opens the real Office page in Chromium and
has the agent read and edit through its office tools from a chat whose model
is a script (scripted-model.mjs).

Its tampered-config case found that a page which adds plugins to its editor
config runs a plugin from anywhere in the person's editor. The /ds proxy now
answers with a content security policy that lets the editor's frame fetch and
frame the portal's own origin only.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Run the real-portal test's portal in a container of its own as Compose without a password does

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Say how soon the agent's edit shows in the person's editor in the real-portal test

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Take the prose off the Office page in Settings

Labels, states, errors, confirmations and the hints a field needs stay;
the paragraphs about where documents keep, the proxy and the networks,
and the agents' browser go, with their German and the search words that
named them.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Let Start download the agents' editor and show how both stand

Start (and switching Office on) downloads the Document Server's images and
the agents' editor's image at once, and the page shows both downloads. An
image that cannot be downloaded leaves the Document Server running and is
said in its row; an install whose Document Server already runs gets the
image with the next Start, and the page says it is missing until then.
The separate Download and its route are gone. The page shows the health
of both: the Document Server stopped, downloading, starting, running or
failed (a failed start is kept until one succeeds), and the agents' editor
missing, downloading, ready, running with its open documents, or failed
with its error. The tools' advice for a missing editor now says to start
Office in Settings.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Open documents in the chat's Office panel, beside the chat

A row of the chat's Office panel opens its document in the editor right in
the panel instead of sending the page to the Office tab; ← All documents
goes back to the list and a small button opens it in the tab. The office
tools' cards open their document in the same panel through its params (a
list's card opens the panel's list). The panel and the Office tab use the
same editor component; each editor has a placeholder of its own, so two on
one page never take each other's, and leaving a document or closing the
panel destroys its editor. While a document is open the panel asks not to
be the one closed to make room for a third.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Prove the chat's Office panel in a real portal

The real-portal test opens the agent's tool card in a real chat, finds the
Document Server's editor in the chat's Office panel with the page still on
the chat, types there and in the Office tab's editor of the same document
and sees each in the other, goes back to the list and closes the panel,
and finds both views' typing saved with no conflict copy.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Make the panel's real-portal case open the agent's new document

With the card of an office_read, the case opened one more agent editor
than the run had before, and the next case's first open twice hit the
agents' editor's 30 s limit on a loaded machine. office_create opens no
editor of the agent's, and its card opens the document just the same.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix what the first review of the Office sidebar work found

Settings shows Office as one thing: one status, one progress area and one
memory line, with a failure naming the part that failed. An old download
error no longer shows under a running Document Server, the agents' editor
reads as starting while it starts again after a failure, and a document an
agent just made no longer reads as gone from the library when its card
opens it at once. The settings search words and the prose guard are
tightened.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Let Start switch Office on, so Start alone is all it takes

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Keep the panel editor's bar to one row, and prove Settings and the panel end to end

The real-portal test now starts Office from its Settings page (no prose there, Start pulls what is missing and the
one status ends running), and the chat's Office panel shows the agent's edit live, co-edits with the Office tab,
and works dragged narrow and wide and docked at the bottom. At 380 px the bar took a second row: the panel's chip
now shows only the number of people in it.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Make an editor anew whose app never starts

OnlyOffice's editor app now and then fails while its scripts load (TypeError: Common.Utils.applicationPixelRatio is
not a function, in its own frame, with nothing said to the page), most often right after another editor on the page
was torn down. In the agents' browser that is an LRU close followed by an open: the agent's call ended in
editor_not_ready after 30 s. In a person's page it is going back to the list and opening a document: an editor
that never opens in the chat's Office panel. Both now make an editor anew, once, where its app has not said it
started (onAppReady) within 10 s (agents) or 15 s (people).

The real-portal test opens the panel at the bottom only where the portal did not bring it back open by itself.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Shorten the Office package's description, which Settings shows above the page

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Recommend at least 1 GB of RAM, and show the memory of all of Office

The Settings hint and the README say at least 1 GB, more with each person
and agent in a document. The memory figure next to the status adds the
agents' browser's cgroup memory to the Document Server's while it runs.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix what the first review of the Office memory figure found

The browser's cgroup read now silences the shell's message as a group, so a
cgroup v1 host (no memory.current) still gives its number; the README no
longer gives a second, contradicting browser figure.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Show Office's memory the way docker stats counts it, and measure it in the e2e

The cgroup's memory counted the file cache: an idle Document Server read 1.8 GB on the page where docker stats
says 0.3 GB, which contradicted the "at least 1 GB" line. Both containers now run one shell command that takes
the droppable inactive file pages off. The e2e checks the page's figure against both containers and docker stats,
with the agents' browser up and after it stopped.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Let the agent make, rename, move, copy, hide, show and delete sheets

office_edit takes sheet ops beside the cell writes, checked up front (Excel's
name rules, names unique without case, positions inside the workbook, one
sheet left visible). The plugin runs a spreadsheet edit an op at a time: in
DS 10.0 adding, moving and deleting a sheet happen after the command returns
(the workbook lock), so each is waited for, and since the editor's Undo takes
back nothing of a spreadsheet command, a failed op takes back the ops before
it with inverses of its own; a deleted sheet goes only once every op is made.
office_read lists every sheet with its position and whether it is hidden.

* Say in Office's README what the agent can do with sheets

* Say plainly what SHEET_OPS holds

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix what the first review of the Office sheets found

A call the editor could not take back whole now says so (error:partial)
and is in the audit log. A run of cell writes is one command again, and
a write puts back the cells' formats and texts when it is undone. A
value the editor does not take fails the call. A hidden sheet is not
moved, since the editor shows it or loses the move. A call takes at most
20 sheet ops and two minutes, and the tool says what a copy and a delete
do not keep.

* Say in Office's README how sheet edits fail and what a delete leaves

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Copy a sheet without ApiRange.Copy, and test the sheet fixes in the real editor

In the editor a Copy or Paste into another sheet left the old sheet's
formulas computing no more. A copy is now written like a cell write is
put back: values, formulas, texts as text, number formats and column
widths. Putting cells back sets a number format only where it differs.
The end-to-end test gains hidden sheets kept hidden, a call taken back
in the real editor, and the timings of large edits.

* Time the large Office edits without the agent's editor starting

* Prove the agent's sheets from a chat in a real portal

Case g of the real-portal test: from a chat the agent makes a spreadsheet
of three sheets (one renamed, one with a formula across sheets, one
hidden) while a person has it open, reads it back with office_read, the
person sees the sheets and the computed formula live, and the file holds
what office_read showed. The test's container names can be changed
through OFFICE_E2E_CONTAINER, as in e2e.test.mts.

* Fix what the first review of comments and the editor's chat found

Post every answer that waits, in order; end a session whose end a restart
cut off; let a comment-only editor serve the agent's reads and never close
an editor under its job; read a cell reply back by its comment and follow
every new GUID; let refused threads get their chat once there is room; give
a comment's text as the person's words only where they made it here; refuse
GUIDs that are no thread's; post nothing a restarted half cannot check;
record every post; bound queues, the mention parse and the report rate; make
the chats in no mode; say a failed run in the editor's chat; make the
remaining limits settings with their bounds on the page; drop the wake's
leftovers.

* Say only that Office recommends 1 GB of RAM

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Keep every Office document in an agent's home or a project, owned by it

New document on the Office tab makes it in the default agent's home, a
chat panel's and office_create in the chat's agent home or project
folder. The library scans only agent homes and project folders, and a
document an earlier version found elsewhere leaves the index. The
unowned kind goes: no document every chat shares, no doc chat that
nobody answers, no docs folder of the extension's own. What an earlier
version made there moves once into its agent's folder, else the default
agent's home, with a number on a clash, and each move is logged.

* Let an agent read a document it was granted by a mention, also where the sandbox keeps it out of the folder

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Take a new document's file at its own name, never through a link put in its place

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix what the first review of owned documents found in the move, the scan and titles

An earlier version's scanned entry without an owner gets one also while its file is
away, or leaves the index; /state answers for one meanwhile. Titles are unique in a
folder, not across the library. A legacy owner inside a home or project moves there,
a moved document's old copy is removed at a later run, and Rescan and the settle retry
the move.

* Catch the old German RAM text too in the real portal's settings check

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Let Office's comment and chat agents run in chats of their own that nobody attends

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Give a chat its office tools and its panel's documents by one rule: whose the portal says it is

On a portal without chats.owner, a chat working in an agent's home or a project's folder itself
still has its panel and tools, as before.

* Do not post a chat's earlier answer after a restart, and stop an earlier version's chat that runs on

* Let a save asked for before a comment's delete not keep the deleted comment's chat

The save after an answer's post often comes back after the person deleted the comment, with the
comment still in it, and cancelled the removal for good.
