No updates and interactive permissions requests when sub-agents triggers tasks #158
Description
Activity
Just for test, I did not terminate the thinking process, but from time to time tried to press oPA to accept all permissions. The session is still thinking - it is more than 30 minutes of "active" thinking process.
I believe there are more issues with subagents than I noticed and mentioned, so the bugs block me from using subagents, because it is slowing down my work for a while
Thanks for the report, I will have a look at it soon
@romankovalov I created a PR that should fix the issue.
Let me know if it resolves the issue.
Don't hesitate to re-open the issue if it does not work for you
The issue seems to be present after the fix - the only temporary notification shown about permissions
I'm on f128f20
P.S. i don't have permissions to reopen the issue
@sudo-tee, please reopen the issue 🙏
@romankovalov Can I ask you a favor to help me debug
Can you enable the
debug.capture_streamed_eventsand reproduce the issue.Once you get the issue run
:lua require('opencode.ui.debug_helper').save_captured_events('~/permission_error.json')Then post it here.
This will help me understand and reproduce the error without guessing .
Thanks a lot
@sudo-tee it says "no captured events" before and after accepting permissions

stop, i added it in custom configs which is disabled for me now
Hopefully, the absolute path works
Reacted by Francis Belanger@romankovalov I have redesigned the permission system to support multiple concurent permission.
It's not ready to be merged yet as it was a pretty significant change.
but If you have time to see if it does work for you let me know.
@sudo-tee, I would love to test it, but today Anthropic just ruined everything by disabling their Max plan to be used in third-party clients. So I'm still trying to decide how to live with it: migrate to Claude code cli instead of opencode, or change the provider.
Reacted by Francis BelangerShould be fixed by #173
@sudo-tee today switched to the trial Gemini. Looks like permission requests look good after the merge. Thank you! But there is another issue. It firstly asks for the permission and only after accepting it says reasons - idk maybe it is another issue.
@romankovalov I'm not sure I understand your issue.
Can you post a screenshot or a video ?
currently I can't even reproduce the permission request. Claude's models were asking about permissions each time, but the Gemini somehow avoids it and do not ask usually.
It also looks like depends on selected model it works differently: with the gemini 3 pro preview it seems to work well, but when I use gemini-2.5-flash it sometimes just stops to think (screenshot)

@sudo-tee I fixed my subagents. now they seems to work better. I see something, but it says nothing - see the subagent progress and permission request

Glad to hear this :)
I will close this bug for now.
If you have any other issue don't hesitate to open a new one

When calling @some-sub-agent configured for opencode, there are no interactive permission requests, and the notification is not always visible or triggered. So the behavior looks like infinite thinking without any actions.
And, when some task is in progress, there are no updates from it, what it does, why, etc. It shows only the task name, asks for some permissions in the background, which is not good that the AI does something in the background, I think
