221-221: 🚀 Performance & Scalability | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winInvalidate the finished-stroke cache conditionally in
gestureStarted().A normal
SignaturePadpointer sequence ends the previous gesture before the next one starts, sogestureStarted()usually seesstrokeCurveCount == 0. However,SignaturePadState.gestureStarted()is public and does not enforce that lifecycle. If it runs with active curves,resetStroke()reclassifies those curves as finished. Skipping invalidation then leaves the recorded layer stale.Pass a condition to
resetStroke(). Keep invalidation enabled by default for stroke completion, clear, resize, and restore.Suggested fix

61-81: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAdd a widget-level assertion for the cached draw path.
FinishedStrokesCacheTestcallsdrawFinishedStrokes,drawStrokeInProgress, anddrawSignaturedirectly. TheSignaturePaddrawWithCachebranch is not exercised. Existing widget tests send gestures but assert state output, not rendered output. A regression that removesdrawStrokeInProgressfromonDrawBehindcan therefore pass these tests. Add a focused rendering test with one finished stroke and one active stroke.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Each move redrew the whole signature, which on a low-end Android tablet takes 19 ms of render thread time at 1,000 curves and 42 ms at 4,000. SignaturePad now records the finished strokes into an offscreen layer that's only redrawn when a stroke ends or the signature is cleared, resized or restored, and draws just the stroke in progress on top. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The cached finished strokes and the stroke in progress were two separate draws, so with a translucent pen their crossings were blended twice and looked darker until the stroke ended. Both are now drawn opaque inside one saveLayer that carries the pen's alpha. gestureStarted also invalidated the finished-strokes cache on every stroke, although the finished strokes only change there if a stroke was still in progress. Adds a test that renders the pad itself, covering both parts and the translucent crossing. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Every move redrew the whole signature. On a low-end Android tablet that takes 19 ms of render thread time per frame at 1,000 curves, and 42 ms at 4,000, so drawing stops keeping up with a 60 Hz screen at around 1,000 curves.
Only the stroke being drawn changes from one frame to the next. This PR keeps the finished strokes in a cached layer and redraws just the stroke in progress on top, so frame time no longer grows with the signature.
Changes
SignaturePadStateImplstrokeCurveCount) and bumpsfinishedStrokesVersioninresetStroke(). Every change to the finished strokes goes through there: a stroke ending, clearing, resizing and restoring.drawFinishedStrokesreads only the version, and reads the curves without snapshot observation, so moves don't invalidate it;drawStrokeInProgressdraws the rest.SignaturePaddraws throughdrawWithCache. It records the finished strokes into aGraphicsLayerwithCompositingStrategy.Offscreen, so Android rasterizes them once into a texture. The cache block reruns only when the version changes. Each frame draws that layer, then the stroke in progress.SignaturePadStatethat isn'tSignaturePadStateImplis still drawn withdrawSignatureevery frame, as before.drawSignatureanddrawOnBitmap, which still draw everything.Results
Median frame time while drawing a stroke on top of a signature, on a Lenovo Tab M9 (Android 13, 60 Hz, 16.7 ms budget), using the macrobenchmark from #25:
P99: it still grows with the signature, to 19 ms at 1,000 curves and 29 ms at 4,000. That's the one frame per stroke where the layer is redrawn.
How it was measured: medians of 5 iterations, with the before and after runs back to back. Measured before #19 was merged into master. #19 only changes what happens when a stroke crosses the pad's edge, which the benchmark doesn't do.
