Summary

One focused UX-polish pass — presentation and interaction feedback only. No business logic, routing, persistence, email threading, or action semantics changed.

  • Micro-interactions: every button and button-like control now acknowledges a click/tap with a brief ~2% press scale (150ms), plus distinct disabled visuals. Implemented once in the shared primitives and reused — no bespoke per-component animation.
  • Trade email: the branded outbound shell is refined — larger centered hoppy-turtle mark, tightened top spacing, softer message-card border/padding, and a three-line footer hierarchy that credits the sending admin when a name is available.

Changes

  • lib/utils.ts: new pressableClasses shared primitive (transition-all duration-150 + motion-safe:active:scale-[0.98])
  • components/ui/button.tsx: press scale via compoundVariants for all button-style variants (text-only link excluded); disabled:saturate-50 so disabled reads clearly as off
  • Applied pressableClasses to clickable surfaces across site + admin: beer/venue cards, filter chips, carousel arrows, date-picker nav/days, tour option cards, mobile menu trigger, hero video + map load controls, dialog close, admin record/lead rows, disclosure <summary>s
  • lib/trade-leads-email-common.ts: mark 64×54 → 92×77 centered; container padding 24px→16px top; card border #e6e7e3→#ececea, padding tightened; centered 3-line footer (Name · Deep Dive Brewing Co / Saba, Dutch Caribbean / deepdivebrewing.com)
  • lib/trade-leads-email.ts: one line — passes actor.name through as senderName; when absent, footer falls back to the bare brand line
  • Docs: interaction-feedback standard in THEME_AND_BRANDING.md, docs/TECHNICAL.md, docs/operations/accessibility.md
  • Tests: tests/lib/interaction.test.ts pins the pressable/disabled/focus/reduced-motion class contract; trade-leads-email.test.ts covers mark size/centering, sender-name conditional + escaping, footer fallback

Verification

  • npx tsc --noEmit — clean
  • npm run lint — clean
  • npm test — 510/510 pass
  • npm run test:rules — 32/32 pass (Firestone/Storage emulator)
  • npm run build — clean
  • npx playwright test — 134/135; the one miss (admin list loading state is announced) is a pre-existing timing flake unrelated to this diff — passes 3/3 on --repeat-each=3 re-run
  • npm run check:md-links — clean
  • npm run check:react-versions — clean
  • Vercel preview reviewed (for UI changes)

Note: npm ci not run (existing node_modules used; package.json/package-lock.json untouched — no dependency changes).

Email pipeline safety

Explicitly unchanged: Resend send logic, webhook handling, inbound routing, replyToken, RFC Message-ID/In-Reply-To/References, idempotency keys, retry logic, delivery-state handling, sender/reply-address routing, communication persistence, activity-history semantics, subject/body/quoting, and the plain-text part. The git diff on lib/trade-leads-email.ts is a single presentational line (senderName: actor.name).

Risk / deployment notes

  • CSS-only interaction changes; the press transform is motion-safe: gated — prefers-reduced-motion sessions get instant color/border acknowledgement with zero movement
  • Email markup stays table + inline styles; mark is the existing absolute https://deepdivebrewing.com/brand/email-mark-black.png asset
  • No secrets, credentials, or private data were committed.

Summary by Sourcery

Improve tactile feedback throughout the interface and polish the branded trade email presentation without changing application or email delivery behavior.

New Features:

  • Add consistent press-state feedback across buttons and clickable controls, with reduced-motion support and clearer disabled styling.

Enhancements:

  • Refine the branded trade email layout with a larger centered mark, improved spacing and card styling, and a sender-aware footer.
  • Document the interaction-feedback and accessibility standards and centralize the shared styling primitives.

Documentation:

  • Document pressed states, shared interaction primitives, and reduced-motion behavior for interactive controls.

Tests:

  • Add coverage for interaction class contracts and branded email rendering, sender attribution, fallback behavior, and escaping.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Interactive controls across the site now provide consistent pressed-state feedback alongside hover and focus states. Press effects respect reduced-motion settings, and disabled buttons appear less saturated.
    • Trade inquiry emails feature a centered brand mark and can identify the staff member who sent the message.
  • Documentation
    • Updated accessibility guidance for pressed states and reduced motion.
    • Clarified interactive feedback guidelines and trade-email branding details.

Presentation-only UX pass with two threads:

Micro-interactions: add shared pressableClasses and a
motion-safe:active:scale-[0.98] press on every Button variant (except
the text-only link variant) plus clickable cards, rows, chips,
disclosure summaries, and icon controls across the public site and
admin. Press transforms are motion-safe gated so reduced-motion keeps
the color/border acknowledgement without movement. Disabled buttons
add saturate-50 so "off" reads clearly. No action or navigation
semantics changed.

Trade email: enlarge the centered hoppy-turtle mark (64x54 -> 92x77),
tighten top spacing, soften the message-card border/padding, and give
the footer a three-line hierarchy that optionally credits the sending
admin ("Name - Deep Dive Brewing Co") from the existing actor snapshot.
Body, plain-text part, threading headers, idempotency, and send
pipeline are unchanged.

Reviewer's Guide

This UX-polish PR centralizes tactile press feedback for button-like controls, extends it broadly across public and admin surfaces with reduced-motion support and disabled styling, and refreshes the branded trade email shell with optional escaped sender attribution. Business behavior, email delivery/threading semantics, and plain-text content remain unchanged; review should focus on control coverage/accessibility and rendered email presentation.

Priority: ⬇️ Low

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to dd68a

The presentation and email changes show no identified merge-blocking regression; text-style links retain their opacity-only feedback.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to dd68a

The changes appear limited to interaction feedback and email presentation. Administrator authentication and sender-name escaping remain in place. No architecture-level security concern was established, but the exact baseline comparison remains incomplete.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The inspected attribution change affects the HTML delivered to the selected trade lead. It does not itself grant sending privileges or introduce a request-controlled recipient or sender identity.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Authentication and active-admin checks precede sending. Dynamic sender attribution is escaped at the HTML boundary, preventing that field from being inserted as raw markup.

20-21: 🚀 Performance & Scalability | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

transition-all in pressableClasses conflicts with the repository performance learning.

pressableClasses applies transition-all to many controls. These controls include large cards (BeerCard) and the carousel arrows. transition-all animates every animatable property, including layout-affecting ones. The doc comment says this is deliberate. Use an explicit property list instead. List the properties that the hovers use: color, background-color, border-color, opacity, box-shadow, and transform.

Tailwind v4 supports an arbitrary value. Use it like this:

♻️ Proposed change
 export const pressableClasses =
-  "transition-all duration-150 motion-safe:active:scale-[0.98]";
+  "transition-[color,background-color,border-color,opacity,box-shadow,transform] duration-150 motion-safe:active:scale-[0.98]";

Update the doc comment above the constant to match. buttonVariants and TabsTrigger also use transition-all. Change them at the same time if you accept this suggestion.

Based on learnings: avoid transition-all; explicitly transition only cheap properties such as transform and opacity.

CodeRabbit review on #160: transition-all would also animate
layout-affecting properties (e.g. the width change when a submit label
swaps to its loading text). List the cheap properties explicitly;
scale/translate/rotate are included because Tailwind v4 emits the
standalone CSS properties rather than transform.

Comment thread lib/utils.ts Resolved
CodeRabbit follow-up on #160: a 150 ms color/border fade still counts
as animated feedback for prefers-reduced-motion users. Drop the
duration to 0s under motion-reduce so the acknowledgement is instant —
motion-safe:duration-150 would not work since the utility falls back
to the default 150 ms var.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Set Button transition duration to zero for reduced-motion users.

The new motion-safe:active:scale-[0.98] suppresses the pressed scale when reduced motion is preferred. But Button’s transition-all still animates hover and focus color or border changes for Tailwind’s default 150 ms. That conflicts with the new instant-acknowledgement contract. Add motion-reduce:duration-0 to the Button base class; pressableClasses applies to other clickable surfaces, not Button.
