French translation of basic_usage.rst file.

I made some choices that can be discuss (and change in other versions if needed).
I translated:

  • "pattern" by "motif"
  • "debug" by "debogage" or "debug" (depending on the context)
  • "specifier" by "indicateur" ("spécificateur" or "prescripteur" sounded weird)
  • "hash" by "code de hachage" or "hash"

I didn't translate following words :

  • package
  • tarball
  • flags
  • spec

Salut Claire!
Great work! So brave of you to tackle this on your own.

I had a quick look at it after seeing your post on Slack.

I think you deserve the right to choose the translation you suggested ("pattern" into "motif", etc). I had a look at the document, and you took care of mentioning the english equivalent to make it clear, awesome!

I’ve never used this mechanism before, so I wonder (@tgamblin):

  • Why is the document referring to Spack 12.0? Since this is a new translation, following the workflow I would expect to see the latest spack version in the fr.po "header".
  • What if there is a typo in the initial documentation (found "thosands" instead of "thousands"), If it’s corrected in the doc, will it discard the translation of the string with typo?

I think I never set the repo up to continuously update from develop -- so it is stuck at 0.12. Let me see if I can help by updating the PR. There may be more work to do in the translation afterwards, as some things have changed since 0.12.

Sorry!

I think there is a fuzz factor here -- but we may have it disabled in the way the docs are currently generated. If we want, we could try to make it less strict. See --no-fuzzy-matching here:

@Bidibulke: I have some deadlines coming up next week and may not have time to work on this today. How soon do you need it to be merged?

I'm not in a hurry.
If you want to update the documentation, I'll be happy to correct the french translation.
Some of my collegues are waiting the french translation, and it's a good exercise for me (learn more thing about spack and improve my english).
