What does it mean to be Tamil? — an interactive, accessible, bilingual journey through more than 3,800 years of Tamil identity.
யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர் · Yāthum ūrē yāvarum kēḷir — “Every town is our home town; every human, our kin.”
A behavioural-change and philosophical tool for Tamils across the world — Tamil Nadu, Eelam, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, South Africa, and the wider diaspora — to understand the history of their people and build from there.
Drawn from a synthesis of Sangam poetics, the Tirukkuṟaḷ, and the Siddhar tradition, the experience is built around four pillars of what it has meant to be Tamil:
- Ecological consciousness — the five landscapes (Aintiṇai) of Sangam poetry, where emotion is woven into land.
- Universal kinship & Aram — Kaniyan Pūngundranār's borderless ethic and the secular morality of the Tirukkuṟaḷ.
- Radical social democracy — the Siddhars' revolt against caste, ritual gatekeeping and hierarchy.
- The body as temple — Thirumūlar's somatic mysticism: Uḷḷam perum kōyil — the heart is the great temple.
- Fully bilingual — every Tamil verse carries romanised transliteration and plain-English meaning, so readers and non-readers of Tamil meet these ideas together.
