Building free, open-source AI tools for investment research.

I am an equity investor. I have been investing in public markets since 2018, and for a few years I managed about $60M of equity on a broking desk. For the last two years I have been working out how AI can take on the heavy part of research, so that one person can do the work a whole desk used to do.

• Reading filings at scale: annual reports, 10-Ks, prospectuses and debt schedules, with every figure traced back to the page it came from.
• Tracking the smart money: insider Form 4s, fund 13F filings, the options tape, short interest and Congress trades.
• Building it on my own machine: research tools that run locally, work with any AI (Claude, ChatGPT or your own API key) and cost nothing to use.

Most of the record an investor needs is public and free, but the tools that make sense of it are either expensive or do not exist yet, so I build my own for my own research, and when something works I open-source it.

GreekSoup: the one-person equity research desk

It runs on your own computer and keeps your book, filings, the options tape, macro, commodities and your research notes in one place, with your own AI plugged in. It is free, open source and updated regularly. More at greeksoup.ai.

Options tape for long-term investors

Takes a daily snapshot of the options on the stocks you own, from free end-of-day data, and surfaces contracts where activity or open interest looks unusual against their own history. It is a prompt for research, never a trade call, and it comes with a written plan for how its flags get judged over time.

Most of the code is written with Claude Code, Codex and Grok Build, but the investing frameworks behind it are mine, and I use these tools on my own research first. Feedback and ideas are always welcome.
