| You can run the client without registering, but the network does not recognize your node until you do. Registration requires an active, bonded validator on your source chain and includes an assertion step that ties your generator's operator key to your validator identity. If you are not a validator, check the [registration requirements](#registration-requirements) before you start. | ||
| You can run a Generator client _without_ registering, but that client will not be able to interact with any public Shinzo networks until it is registered. |

This is not strictly correct.
A host can connect to generators without being registered but a generator that is not registered will not be included for a host to connect too.
