Summary

Unify VOCO's first-run journey, compact controls and installation experience while preserving the microphone branding, Alt+D default and local-only dictation. Prepare release cut 2026.0.47, including the unmerged Wayland readiness fixes from #40.

The installer reports measured download bytes, retains private failure diagnostics, preserves existing shortcuts and checks the packaged /usr/bin/voco. The README installer tag is checked against an explicit published-release record. Shared diagnostic types remove the recording interface's lint warnings without changing runtime behavior.

Evidence

• Before: text-heavy setup and settings, a settings detour for microphone selection, opaque download spinners and stale completion instructions.
  After: inline microphone selection, readiness-gated completion, focused actions, measured downloads and matching instructions. Local evidence contains 32 before/after pairs (64 screenshots), including actual nested GNOME Shell and terminal captures with controlled fixtures.
• Local TypeScript, ESLint, complete npm tests, installer helpers and DevOps checks pass. The model hash remains pinned. Renderer and panel fixtures cover reduced motion, focus, recovery, horizontal containment and no external onboarding output.
• Package qualification and exact-head CI must pass before release publication. Fixture evidence does not establish physical-microphone or universal Linux compatibility. The GNOME 46 extension remains opt-in.

Merge Danger

Door: two-way; no destructive configuration migration or automatic extension enablement.
Blast Radius: first-run UI, settings navigation, native tray/panel integration, installer prerequisite checks and release metadata. Capture consent, flush ordering, verified cursor requirements and recovery boundaries remain authoritative.
