Cut the docs to the rules that matter - #94
Conversation
AGENTS.md now holds every repository rule: structure, performance, UI, code, tests, and review. ARCHITECTURE, DESIGN, PERFORMANCE, REVIEW, and CONTRIBUTING are folded into it or left to the code comments that already state them. API.md, README, CONTEXT, and the solver notes keep only their contracts, and API.md's processing order now matches the renderer. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

- Line 7: Update the browser-test guidance to document that Playwright reuses an
existing Vite server locally and starts one in CI; remove the unconditional
instruction to stop other Vite servers, consistent with the reuseExistingServer
setting in playwright.config.ts.

| `bun install`, then `bun dev`. On every code change run `bun run check` (writes fixes), `bun run build`, and `bun run test` (Bun; GPU tests use `vgpu/mock`). `bun run test:browser [file]` runs `*.e2e.ts` in Chromium with real pixels; install its browser once per Playwright version with `bunx --no-install playwright install chromium`. It starts its own Vite: stop any other Vite server first, since concurrent servers reload each other's pages mid-test. 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Document Playwright's local server reuse behavior.
Outside CI, playwright.config.ts sets reuseExistingServer: true. Therefore, bun run test:browser can reuse an existing Vite server and does not always start its own. The current instruction can cause contributors to stop a server unnecessarily, or leave them testing against an already-running server instead of the server they expect Playwright to start. Document local reuse and CI startup behavior instead of requiring an unconditional stop.

Change
The Markdown drops from 12,246 to 3,129 words. AGENTS.md now holds every repository rule: structure, performance (fps and memory), UI, code, tests, and review. Before, an agent read AGENTS.md and then had to read the 3,007-word ARCHITECTURE.md. ARCHITECTURE, DESIGN, PERFORMANCE, REVIEW, and CONTRIBUTING are deleted: their rules moved into AGENTS.md, and their descriptions of behavior already live in code comments. API.md stays a public reference with every method and range but loses shader math and internals; README, CONTEXT, the solver notes, and the fixture README keep only what code can't say.
Fixes along the way: API.md said the image's adjustments tone the composite (the renderer applies them first); AGENTS.md claimed browser tests always run on SwiftShader. New guardrails: stop other Vite servers before browser tests, await
onSubmittedWorkDonebefore 2D-canvas readback, and update API.md with the controls and commands. Two code comments take over facts the docs held (layout.tsx,crop.e2e.ts).Verification
bun run check, bun run build, andbun run testpass. Two independent reviews checked every remaining claim in API.md and AGENTS.md against the code; their corrections are applied.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
