Hey 👋, I'm Matt Romanes

IT Support professional and aspiring cloud/cybersecurity engineer based in Melbourne, Australia. Currently working as a Customer Support Officer at Victoria University while building toward a long-term career in cybersecurity and cloud infrastructure.

  • 🔭 Pulse was my main project at Omega Networks: architected from blueprint to production, integrating NetBox and Zabbix APIs into a unified real-time monitoring system, plus a custom on-device RAG pipeline using Apple's MLX framework.
  • ☁️ Recently built up-to-actual — a serverless Azure Functions pipeline that syncs Up Bank transactions into Actual Budget automatically. Deployed to production, monitored via Application Insights, runs daily at 2am Melbourne time for ~$0/month.
  • 🌱 Building hands-on skills in cybersecurity and cloud infrastructure through a self-hosted homelab covering DNS filtering, intrusion detection, monitoring, and zero-trust remote access.
