- 🎯 Hands-on coding practice with katas like Bowling Game, Roman Numerals, or Gilded Rose
- 🔄 Introduction to TDD and mob/pair programming with timed rotations so everyone gets to drive and navigate
- 💬 We work as a small group and choose our language together (often TypeScript with Deno)
- 🤖 Learn to code alongside AI tools like Claude Code - experience modern development workflows
- 🚀 Come prepared with tools installed so we can dive straight into coding!
- 🌎 Connect with developers from around the world in a friendly, supportive environment
- 💻 A computer with a stable internet connection
- 🛠️ Visual Studio Code with Live Share for real-time collaboration — plus Claude Code AI assistant
- 📹 Zoom with webcam ON - we love high-bandwidth communication!
- 🧠 An open mind and willingness to collaborate!
- ✅ Free event!
- 🆕 No prior experience with TDD or mob/pair programming required
- 👥 Small, friendly group focused on learning together
- 🛠️ Curious how we host it? See HOWTO.md for the tech setup, online and in person

- 7 of us attended, online.
- We picked our kata by dot-voting on ideas from the group, and the winner was a live DJ tool. Claude wrote the kata on the spot: the Live DJ Segue Assistant.
- We built it in TypeScript/Deno with TDD: beatmatching two tracks (Level 1), harmonic mixing with the Camelot Wheel (Level 2), and part of Level 5, planning a whole set from the two song-matching functions.
- We had fun!
- 6 of us attended, online from all over the world.
- We built the Travel Assistant kata in TypeScript/Deno with TDD: a DST-aware time zone converter (Level 1) with input validation, and normalizing a day's itinerary to UTC (Level 2).
- Important: Code With Me stopped working entirely — JetBrains disabled it. We switched to Visual Studio Code with Live Share, and it worked well.
- One attendee mentioned they've been using this dojo style in their own university course, and their students love it.
- This may have been the most fun online session we've ever done!
- 5 of us attended, presencial en CDMX.
- We built the Cantar la Lotería kata in TypeScript/Deno with TDD, completing Levels 1–4: naming cards, building the full 54-card deck, shuffling with a seeded PRNG, and building a player's board with marking.
- Cool find in Level 3 (shuffling): Deno's standard library already ships a working seeded randomizer (
@std/random'srandomSeeded+shuffle), so we never had to write or test our own shuffle algorithm. - Lo hicimos en español.
- We had fun!
- 8 of us attended, presencial en CDMX.
- We built the "¿Dónde comemos?" (Where should we eat?) app full-stack, running live!
- We did it in Spanish.
- We had fun!
- 2 of us attended — an awesome pair programming session.
- We did the Tennis Scoring Kata, which was super fun.
- As a bonus, we built a simple UI for a tennis judge to use to score games.
- We had fun!
- 4 of us attended.
- We practiced the Mars Rover kata using TDD and Claude Code.
- We completed Levels 1–5, finishing with multi-rover missions where parked rovers act as obstacles.
- We added an animated ASCII visualization of a 6-rover mission.
- We had fun!
- 3 of us attended.
- We created and practiced the Emoji Encryption kata using TDD and Claude Code.
- We completed Levels 1 (simple substitution) and 2 (custom alphabet), including catching a sneaky multi-codepoint emoji bug.
- Important: Code With Me is being phased out — we need to identify a new real-time collaboration tool for next time.
- We had fun!
- 2 of us attended.
- We built a PDF Bank Statement Reorderer web app using Claude Code as our AI assistant.
- We deployed it to DigitalOcean App Platform.
