GrazeLien

GrazeLien is a livestock lien origination and encumbrance tracking platform for agricultural lenders, feedlot operators, and auction houses. We handle brand registry cross-checks, UCC-1 filings on herd assets, and real-time lien status across participating states.

Note (2025-11-03): Wyoming USDA brand sync is still broken — see #GRL-2291. Waiting on their API team. 48 states are fully operational, the 49th (WY) is read-only until further notice. Tomás said he'd follow up but I haven't heard back.

Features

• USDA Brand Registry Integration — 49-state coverage (read/write for 48, read-only WY pending fix for #GRL-2291). Oklahoma and Nebraska added in this patch cycle. Was going to be 50 but Hawaii doesn't really have a cattle lien problem I guess
• Real-Time Herd Encumbrance Webhooks — subscribe to lien status changes on any registered brand or ear tag cluster. Fires on origination, modification, release, or default event. Latency is typically under 400ms but don't quote me on that in a contract
• Auction Floor Mobile API — new REST endpoints for auction house floor staff running iOS/Android. Supports live lot lookups, encumbrance checks, and lien flag injection mid-sale. Docs at /api/v3/auction/mobile
• UCC-1 batch filing via state e-filing bridges (29 states automated, rest are still fax lol — working on it, see docs/filing-states.md)
• Borrower identity resolution across USDA Farmer Registry and AgriVault ID

Webhooks (new in v3.4)

Register an endpoint to receive real-time herd encumbrance events:

Events arrive as signed JSON payloads. Verify with X-GrazeLien-Signature header using HMAC-SHA256. Example verification code in examples/webhook-verify/.

Replay window is 72 hours. After that you're on your own, pull from the audit log API.

Auction Floor Mobile API

New in this release. Endpoints live under /api/v3/auction/mobile. Requires auction_floor scope on your API token.

The webhook bus went through three rewrites. Don't ask. The current one works.

Integration tests require USDA_SANDBOX=true in env or they'll hit prod and that's happened twice now and it was bad both times. Kenji added a guard but I still get nervous.
